Why is Battle shaping unpopular? in Geneforge 4: Rebellion | |

I tried battle creations in GF3 and found that thahds and later thahd shades worked well for the first few islands. I didn't try them in GF4 since fire creations were easier to obtain and there were more items to help make them earlier on in the game. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I ran a drakon, gazer, and war trall through the Titan Hall and found that drakons did the best overall damage versus what you find down there. Drakons have twice the effective damage versus ur-drakons. If you have only one or two creations then a drakon is the best way to go. Mac version had physical damage for drayk and drakon missle attacks for some reason. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Calculations on global warming/cooling are complex depending upon how you model the earth. Your energy source (coal, oil, nuclear, or solar) don't themselves produce much of a heating effect. It's the indirect effect of the pollution they produce. Back during the Industrial Revolution, coal and oil produced lots of smoke in the cities that increased absorbtion of light and produced more heat. With cleaner burning fuels and nuclear power plants, this pollution has decreased. Reducing the ozone layer changes both absorption of UV radiation that increases skin cancer because it is more energetic that visible light. It also reduces absorption of infrared light (heat) that radiates from the earth. Water molecules that form from the temporary breakdown of ozone are strong infrared absorbers. However the dispute occurs in how to calculate these effects. It's not only the affects of power production, but how it is used. For instance China is undergoing an industrial revolution now that it is capitalistic. More factories are created and more polluting transportation has been introduced. This is creating more pollution that is affecting the climate over the Pacific Ocean creating more intense storms. So a strong local effect is changing a larger area of the world. Urbanization is producing heat islands. So some areas are hotter from heat that is stored in roads and buildings during the day and reradiated during the night. These places are shifting the weather. Delicious Vlish has his reasons. Randomizer thinks that this topic will die on its own. The board is getting tempermental about telling you when it has received a new post so if you try again it treats it as a new submission and posts it twice. In the Tower Colony you get access to a spellbook in return for killing a demon trapped on the upper level. The book is upstairs in the room where you get the quest (need arcane lore total in the party of 5). There is another spellbook behind a barrier in Harston in the lower level. I heard that you need more than one piercing crystal to destroy the barrier. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

If you are staying, no double posting large chunks of text until the topic crashes. I supposed you would have kept posting more chapters until it happened. You missed that Aran has blocked posting number information in a mistaken effort to stop spam. No more 17th reports with the number of monthly posts by members. I guess he will have the other numbers because he can't break the habit. JV has started beta testing Nethergate: Resurrection. The character editor will give you the spell, but it is better to waste time in game to get the quest from the mayor, tell him you killed the alien slime, take the evidence to Berra, etc. This will give you the experience, money, reputation, and keep Empire soldiers elsewhere in the game from attacking. Also you won't be able to get into the other large cities until you finish the Filthy Factory quest on Bigail so you might as well do it right. That must be the Windows version. In the Mac one there is junk in the glaahk's nest. The gaahk's eye is needed to make a mental focus charm. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

quote:The speed spell is a hold over from the old combat system. When the AP needed for an attack was changed to allow for a minimum of 1AP from 5AP the speed spells became off-balanced. All of a sudden you could race across the zone and attack. Jeff first found out during beta testing when we raced across the Fens and could avoid a long fight with the new creations that kept streaming in to the zone. It will probably get weaken in the next game. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

There are three creations available for training at the start: fyora, thahd, and artila. You can also click on the + to make cryoa and if you used the thahd canister the unstabe thahd. See canisters from the useful links at the top of the forum for locations of canisters and trainers that can give you other creations. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Sure you can return to Annwn, when you die. You can't leave again because you don't have the crown or permission. The three artifact missions and for the Celts when they raid the Roman fort are the only cases where you can't go back if you miss something. I tried to transfer some loot to an area where you can access it after you complete your mission. It gives me a little extra spending money. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

You are supposed to wander around the room and try to avoid the power spirals that are about to discharge. After one goes off it is usally safe to stand near it. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Nice, since I avoided any clean up work. We really need a better system for cleaning up. Maybe Aran could make a bot to help out. I see why this isn't over. On to chapter 41. Of course the episode could never end with the work on Nethergate forum coming in a few months as chapter 42. Episode 3 - the Neverending Story. One reason a large Vahnatai scenario will never be popular - chitrachs. Chitrachs and hydras were the most common monsters down there. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

There have been games where I lucked out of dying, but I don't know whether it's been worth more than 1 point. I went high intelligence (20) so I had very few skill points left for strength and dexterity to carry loot and later the better armor. Also endurance was 5 so I wasn't a complete glass cannon. I didn't have anything left over for the combat skills. I know I'll miss it, but that's what divine warrior is for in the end. I think tool use of 10 resulted since I was really tired of being blown up opening boxes. Edit - assasination will probably be the best combat skill since at least in A3 is based on your level and at 40 you will be higher than most monsters. It should be way more effective earlier on in the game than for a regular party. The fomorian one and Castle Aethoc (?) both have large sections that can't be revisited after you complete parts of your quests. They have lots of treasure that you can't carry out in one trip Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Chemical weapons go back to World War I when mustard gas was used to kill soldiers in trench warfare. This led to the first treaties to outlaw chemical weapons. Iraq is probably one of the few countries to use chemical weapons in defiance of the bans. The threat of using them has always been there as the US and Soviet Union both created stockpiles during the Cold War. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Burkes in Chickweed Bridge can teach you two levels of artila if your leadership is 6 or more. Otherwise you can only learn shaping without canisters from the Shapers. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

A trained low level creation will never have the same strenght, endurance, and near dexterity for the same essence cost. At least that was what I saw during beta testing. I ran with two artilas that I kept adding strength essence in order to keep them competitive on damage. Eventually I replaced them. High level creations tend to be more resistant to terror and charm. Although that probably depends upon the ones you have. I always liked my gazer over the wingbolt since it has higher health even though it costs more in essence. I guess it comes down to how quickly you can kill the opposition. I still like drakons at the end since the have a higher effective damage versus ur-drakons. Cryodrayks also when they have been around for a chapter are useful even though they run out of spell energy. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I didn't think there were that many and I replayed that area last month working on my A4 singleton. The Slith penisula just has sliths, rats, and bats. After the Eastern Gallery you don't see chitrachs until the Great Cave. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |
