At the time of Sodom's destruction the only Jews were Abraham and Sarah, so I doubt Jews started homosexuality. They did put proscriptions against it in the Bible that the Christian church uses against all but their own priests. Back to some earlier things. Slavery was what allowed the rise of Greek civilization. With the slaves doing the work, it was possible to free up time to develop the arts and sciences. It wasn't great for the slaves, but that gets glossed over in all but college level history classes. Colonialism is a polite term for conquered areas. The winner of the conflict now runs the territory with the conquered people either enslaved or beneath the new lords that run the country. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

If Jeff takes some elements from the revised AP system in Geneforge 4, then you will see melee fighting be more useful. Avernum 4 eliminated the player wait command in combat that allowed you to let the monster close so you could melee at the risk of damage. With the new system as long as you have 1 AP you can still attack. This eliminates the I moved too far and don't have 5 AP to attack with anymore. Geneforge 1 is more about the plot than game mechanics. The next two games were developing the game and the story became less important. Avernum always has been about the mood of being in a strange world. Avernum 2 is considered to have the best plot and a decent game engine. Nethergate is currently being revamped. The plot is interesting because you see it unfold from two different sides. Same world, but with interacting missions. You can try the demo to see what that will be like. Daze doesn't work on turrets, that's why you need enough health to withstand their attacks and not get stunned. But you don't want to fight them and the others, so daze the ones you can. If you are careful you can only face one turret at a time and use a crystal on it. You are trying to ascribe human motives to God with the idea that learning is better than being born with the knowledge. The idea of an afterlife is a pagan concept that was adapted by Christianity. It medival times it allowed the church to convince the lower classes that they should obey their betters in order to achieve a reward in the afterlife instead of torment. It was a great way to keep the masses in line and even the nobles since the Catholic church could excommunicate them. The whole Henry VIII becoming head of his own church to gain control of his afterlife and be able to do what he wanted in this life. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

On a related note today's Wall Street Journal has a front page story on trying to dig up Sodom. The reason God destroyed it is believed to be homosexuality according to Christians and Moslems. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

The first fortress west of Fort Remote is opened by a lever that is very hard to see. It's in the corridor west of the temple area and next to the westernmost corridor. I know sometimes it's hard to tell if a topic has been posted, but this is the first time I ever seen a triple. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Fixed the broken link. There's plenty of oil in Africa, especially off the western coast. I put this up because it shows how we got the way we did. Now some of our closer primate relatives (unless you believe in intelligent design) our following our path to mass destruction. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Chimpanzees making spears are on the road to making weapons of mass destruction. We now get to see evolution in action as lower primates gear up for the next level of weapon technology. They may be a few thousand years behind us, but they have figure out to insert pointy end into opponent. No reaction from President Bush on a new weapons race since they don't produce a significant amount of US oil. Bush probably thinks that's what he's supposed to see. See no evil. It's like Ronald Reagan trying to hear a question over the helicopter running next to him. It's just for show. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

URL linking depends upon the forum. For general it usually goes to a previous useless page to make a point. Over in games it usually means a reference to save retyping something that has already been done. The hard part will be a general program to detect spam. After all how would a bot consider a TM post that uses foreign languages to defeat the autocensor? In general TM as an example was usually spam, but in Blades he wasn't. Keywords will help, but spelling errors will confuse the bot. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

This is part of the trouble with Synergy's last major debate and several others. Definitions of terms was different enough that boths sides may have had valid points that the other was misunderstanding. Synergy doesn't have the many years of physics coursework that several members including myself have, while most of us don't have extensive medical backgrounds. Maybe spending a day defining terms will help, but I doubt it. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

quote:If you really want to stretch coincidence that you can have both of these be true. Moses hears voices and as a result of knowledge on how to perform "magic" that he learned as an Egyptian prince and random events like a volcanic eruption he convinces the Egyptians to let the Jews go. Everything that Moses "hears from God" are either ideas he has or learned. Enough of the events from Exodus have natural explanations that there maybe no supernatural interventation. Over that much time we can determine what really happened since there is no other record of events. It's possible to make a case either way that both axioms are true or mutually exclusive. The room has the recipe for the artifact Legs of the Tyrant. Luckily you can make things without knowing the recipe from actual finding it in the game. There is a glaahk canister in the Western Rise, one you can buy in Rebel Camp Aziraph, and you can learn it in Shaper Camp Gamma. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

The gizmo pacifies the Unbound so it doesn't attack for a few rounds. I think you start with the east one and then go to the west one. I tried it once as a servile and found it didn't last long enough for me to finish the job. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Unbound - I usually have to create a high health creation to attack and have my character stay back and heal. If you have enough health and that means over 600 you might be able to finish the job with spine shield. Essence shackles is a must. Quessa-Uss - After you leave you can't get back into the lab. Loot and transfer what you want to the western guest quarters. The two locked rooms at the north end of the lab open after you see the drakons after the first time that you can get to the lab. You also can't see all the consequences of a specific action. There maybe some long term result that only God can see, One result of the evils of Hitler was to finally guilt Europe into the creation of Israel as an actual independent country instead of part of a colonial protecterate. After the 40 years since the Balfour declaration planning to do something, they finally did it. While this has meant several wars in the Mideast, there would have been others between the Arab states without Israel. Maybe good people have to suffer to force change. If you have enough leadership you can avoid turning in the Safehouse. I don't remember exactly since I got my spells from the Safehouse after the first game. You might need the Repair Moseh quest to get the lower prices. Try after getting the Betray Safehouse quest to see Duncan's prices. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I doubt ending the monthly reports and access to the current numbers will do too much. Some people will post and spam no matter what and you know who you are. Pale Flamming Muffin didn't even know about the page and he reached 30 in his 1st day. He'll probably reach 500 before the year is out. Alorael will keep on posting barring another ban or loss of his internet connection. Nioca would probably be a few hundred posts lower with out the monthly reports. Maybe 400 posts lower without the spamfest. You aren't going to change the numbers too much. It just means we won't be able to measure them. Also no more month post topic.
