Help me plan my character in Geneforge 4: Rebellion

If you want to build up experience quickly in the beginning then mechanics of 8 will get you through the Boiling Mudpits before you do Crenshaw Dell for a level of experience.

The game is made so you can get through with mechanics of 5. Still there are plenty of places like the Warded Sea Caves and Monarch' s Realm where higher mechanics will pay off with easy experience.

It goes more to playing style. Drayks are great creations because they never run out of energy for their missle attack. If they get charmed you can always charm them back, so watch the messages at the bottom and replay them.

The canister is near the entrance and can be obtained with high leadership and a strong pro-shaper reputation.

The hidden lever room is to the blademaster charm.

Alorael is find out how many posts you can make in a single account before the UBB swallows it in digust

Edit - depending on whether the UBB uses a 16 or 32 bit word to hold post count we should reach the first place where something strange happens late next year when Alorael goes over 16,384.

I hate hot weather once it crosses 110 degrees. I broke a cheap thermometer in my car when it pegged at 140 degrees in the sun. After that my roommate wouldn't get in until the car was cooled down and ready to move.

I started a game where my character never actually used a damaging attack or spell, but let his sole creation do damage.

You have to attack some things even if you never kill them. Monarch is the best example.

The two main branches are Shaper and Rebel for the final battle at the game end. Then you can pick helping the Shapers, Rebels, or Trakovites in releasing the Unbound. There are variations in the text based on canister usage, reputation among the Shapers and Rebels, who survived the fight, and one other thing with the Unbound.

The game also plays with a different strategy depending upon the character class you start playing. There are several threads on what it's like to play them.

Do more damage. Missle or spell damage is best since he slows you in melee near the end. He also starts to do more damage just before he dies. Essence shackles will make him waste time hasting instead of attacking while you are on speed to do something else.

Otherwise he isn't that hard to take out even with a single servile and no help from creations or the Rebel Camp.

Nethergate has fewer spells that you need to learn in order to win the game. I ran an all druid Roman party and found that you just need war and healing circle spells plus piercing sight (mapping spell) and break barrier (spell or item).

Avernum and Geneforge made it necessary to have different damage type spells to get around monster resistances. Some magic resistant monsters like Rakshasha could only be killed by blessing and weapon damage (or priest wound spell in A2).

You could combine the summoning spells into call beast/summon aid as level 3 and summon shade/divine host for level 3 where the level 3 version isn't available until near the end. Then mage animate undead with arcane summoning for level 3. This would free up at least a slot for each spellcaster for a new spell.

Plenty of room to bring back the much abused divine warrior and a new arcane mage spell.

You would do the fewest encounters to reach them. So for Moseh you would only help Eliza and lure the thahd out so she kills it. For Monarch you would bypass killing the Creator and remove the least mines to get to him. Avoid the Shaper Infiltrators and fighting to reach Quessa-Uss. Daze and run.

I'm wondering if you would have enough points to survive making it across some areas. Mental magic would be needed to daze/charm. You could use pods/spores for blessing and healing magic. Most areas would never be visited like Circle of the Drayk, Turabi Gate, Western Morass, etc.

Check the link at the top of the Geneforge 4 Forum for reputation. There are several quests that you can do to improve your reputation to the Shaper side. Also based upon the rewards you can estimate your current reputation.

I'll give it a 7.

The setting was great, but the interface really made it hard to enjoy. Maybe if it had been the first one I played I wouldn't have minded so much the troubles with looking at the automap and moving.

I'll give it a 9.5.

While the interface had some problems and there were never enough inventory slots this game was the best of the Exile series. There was nothing better than challenging the Empire guards at a checkpoint and slaughtering them with repeated shockwaves. It had the best tests where you had to problem solve instead of reload until you got the right spoonfed choice.

The Dark Waters was a challenge after the first time to maximize treasure while having enough potions at the start to make it through intact.

I thought that I had rated it already, but I don't see a post.

I'll give it 8.5. It's not as good as Exile 2, but it was the first one I played and it made me get the rest. It was great to see the surface and the timer made you have a reason to get on with the game and not wait around.

Some spells like identify are no longer needed. I do miss a few Exile spells and want there return. I seems that in order to reduce the amount of graphics for the spell page most of them are gone. In order to get a new spell something has to be removed.

According to Infernal Flamming Muffin's profile at Ermarian he has been a member for 37 years, 8 weeks, and 2 hours since the last update. This makes him far older than Spidweb's mere 5 years, 21 weeks, and 5 days.

This holds true for a few of the other people we thought were new members.

So congratulations on being here before everyone else. Nice occupation,

Dikiyoba - I'm shocked that you took so long to get to Fort Draco. I did it in less than a week and I started over several times to tweak my party as I got used to the changes. I can do it now in less than 8 hours with plenty of time spent hauling back loot and clearing areas for Fort Draco quests before I get them.

I never could hit with essence shackles my first time through as a lifecrafter after I got the spell in the Fens. I thought my mental magic and spellcraft were high enough, but I'd have to check.

It looks like level 35 maybe 36 for my first lifecrafter, but that was during beta testing. Jeff increased the experience before releasing the final version.

Doing almost everything gave level 42 lifecrafter and level 44 servile.

As long as you get the Repair Moseh quest from Alwan, you can get a pass from Alwan to get in Shaper Camp Gamma. There you can get creation training. The Shapers only train you in approved creations so drayk, drakon, and gazer are all canister learned.

I don't remember what I rated it last time so I'll give it a 7.

Great game engine, but the plot was a rerun of A3 and I really missed the elevations. Don't even want to think about all the Geneforge graphics.
