C'mon. We're doing them all.

I thought E2 was alright. For some reason in my version, SP maxed out to only 99. Strange.

Other than that, better than E1, but still not great. Lacks the features of E3 and BoE. The plot was good, and the demo was fun. Beyond the shareware barrier...meh. By far the most overrated SW game in my opinion.

6.5

Jeff Vogel's finest work. There were a few glitches and a few strethes which didn't really click, but the atmosphere was thick enough to choke on. The second act in particular was something I haven't seen since in Spidweb games or scenarios (his efforts to imitate it in ZKR aside).

This is one of the few examples I can think of of a sweeping epic plot being pulled off without being too broad. Excellent work. If only the sequel had come out the same way...

From the demo only, which is what I've played. My biggest complaint is that you couldn't use the arrow keys to move.

The interface was a bit hard to manage, but that's the Exile series for you. I seriously loved the part where I got to the Test of Mind in the Vahnatai caverns. I had expected something along the lines of magic tests or intelligence checks, so I sent my wizard.

My surprise was very great when I saw that it was not my character's but my own thinking that was being put to the test.

Here's to "I WANT OUT OF THIS HELLHOLE RIGHT NOW".
Which is eleven, incidentally.

Definitely the best game in the Exile trilogy. Its plot is far and away the strongest of the three games, and the Vahnatai are generally presented as a lifelike and complex species rather than a set of caricatures. Tactical combat and technical whizzbangs are unremarkable compared to many later-generation BoE scenarios, but you can't have everything.

9. Fun without being brilliant. I couldn't replay it with as much vigor as Exile III, and for that I'm going to give it the same score.

Exile 2 is a favorite I'll never forget.
I can still remember the first time I played it, the fresh air, the moist caves, it really brings back memories.
I can't give it lesser than a 10.
I'll always like it, and just because its old doesn't mean I'll forget about it.
Exile 2, you will always be in my heart.

It wasn't the first Exile I played, but it was the one I enjoyed most of all. Dark Waters was amazing, especially with Exile's food management system.

I can't add anything that other players haven't in terms of positives, but negatively, the interface sucked. And after playing Nethergate/Avernum, the combat engine is woeful.

Hence, my score is sorta retrospective. A year or two ago, I might have given it 9.4, but it hasn't aged well.

A classic game on a decent game engine (I prefer the E2 engine over the E3 engine). Good storyline, puzzles are just the right difficulty, and fun to play. I especially enjoy the format the save games are in.

I like this game and have replayed it countless times. I like the chests with random content, which there aren't in Exile 3. This one has more details than the first one, like treasure on the floors and more side quests with rewards (I think). I sometimes lose interest in a certain point in the game when there are so many side quests that I forget what I was doing. Still, it's a very good game.

I generally prefer Exile games over their Avernum counterparts. I like the graphics and the variety in the Exile series but the story and quests are usually the best parts.

Fun, equally challenging as it progresses, and a unique plot.

Agreed in all points, although the score seems inflated; I rank it a 7.5 and consider that generous.

Really great game, I remember the first time
I played it, some twelve years ago.
Didn't really understand the language,
so I never got very far, but some years later
I played it through. It really was something,
that game.

Exile II - Crystal Souls

My favorite spiderweb game. Huge world to explore, interesting vahnatai diplomacy situation with war backdrop, zillions of spells including firestorm etc, stackable spell effects, easily distinguishable monsters, no tedious item collection quests, need I say more.

Rating: 10.

Maybe it's because I went back and played this one after playing some of the newer games first, but I simply wasn't impressed. Avernum 2 is the best in the Avernum series, but I don't get what people see in this, Exile III is superior. 7.

I'll give it a 9.5.

While the interface had some problems and there were never enough inventory slots this game was the best of the Exile series. There was nothing better than challenging the Empire guards at a checkpoint and slaughtering them with repeated shockwaves. It had the best tests where you had to problem solve instead of reload until you got the right spoonfed choice.

The Dark Waters was a challenge after the first time to maximize treasure while having enough potions at the start to make it through intact.
