And we've come full circle now. It's a shame that Djur has a big button labeled "Don't push me!" and it's equally shameful that I can't resist pushing those buttons. Even when I used the :P emoticon.

You can push my buttons any day, hot stuff.

Avernum 3 - 7.00 (9.7/3.5) in General

3.5 - As with the other Avernum games, the score is derived from the score for Exile 3 (5.5) less 1 point for diminished play value (spells, etc.), half a point for the atrocious Avernum graphics (although not as bad as the Geneforge graphics!), and another half point for being an uninspired remake of a game which was still for sale and playable.

5.5 - *thwack* *thwack* *splat* *footsteps* *growl* *growl* *growl* *thwack* *swish* *splat* ... hours pass... and the blade goes down the wrist and I'm in a happy place where I'm playing Ultima IV and actually doing something with my time.

4.5 - A derivative game deserves a derivative score. 6.0 (Exile) - 1.0 for the lack of originality - 0.5 for the nerfed spell system, etc. + 0.5 due to the fact that Exile's interface really did suck - 0.5 for the lousy iso graphics.

6.0 - The only Exile which actually deserved a remake, and by that, I mean a bit of spit and polish, not the atrocity which is Avernum. Fun for a little diversion, but lacks the scope or vision of its sequel or the basic technical competence of the third.

Loads of fun, with an intelligent and devoted developer. This is what distinguishes it from the games Spiderweb develops, rather than just distributes. 8.5

It's like if you made a cheap knock-off of the Fallout engine and grafted a cheaper knock-off of Pokemon on it... and then added a tepid, go-nowhere plot with philosophy courtesy of Terror's Martyr. It's playable, though, and kills time. 5.0

5.5 - Exile 2's score with -1 for the diminished play value (neutering magic, etc.), -0.5 for the inferior graphics, and another -0.5 for the fact it's a cynical remake of a good game.

This is one of the few examples I can think of of a sweeping epic plot being pulled off without being too broad. Excellent work. If only the sequel had come out the same way...

Agreed in all points, although the score seems inflated; I rank it a 7.5 and consider that generous.

6.5 - Decent plot, awful graphics, passable play value. Hardly the breathtaking masterpiece that some seem to view it as.

7.0 - A passable attempt at extending the Exile line to the hands of the players, made in mostly ill-faith and poorly supported throughout its long life. Salvaged by the ingenuity and dedication of its die-hard fan community.

You know, I'm only 14. If you think that's old, you are way too young to be talking about the things you are talking about right now.

Edit: By the time I make this edit, one of you will no doubt make another insulting/sarcastic post. What an achievement.

Edit2: As I can see you really want to spam, I'm not going to stand in your way, only the mods can do that. I'm getting off the computer now.

Tough-talking and hard-to-get... oh my.

Kids, you may want to avert your eyes from this thread right about now.

...

All right, "HACKeR". We're going to roleplay. You're Nathan Ashby, and I'm Jeff Vogel, and we're about to have an eeeee-ROTIC adventure in Exile.

Rrrow.
