Anyone looking on could see him making the most terrible decision of his long life. As Mariann did, walking by and scoffing in discontented anger. Vogel, lost in emotion, let her have her scoffs. Mariann was not content. She was never content now, but she was a smart woman and she knew what she was doing, marrying a man more interested in the PR than her and having his child for comedic effect. There was no love. It was a sham. She got hers, though. She got her kid. She got her rutting once a week. Wasn't enough for her; it never was. But that's the price you pay to be married to a gaming superstar. She wasn't entitled to his daydreams. Jeff minimized his work on Geneforge 4 and slowly closed his eyes. In his mind's eye Nathan Ashby gazed at him, maddeningly coy and infinitely knowing. He wore a Stetson - he was always wearing a Stetson - and a button-down silk shirt, which, with a wry smile, he slowly unbuttoned, revealing the final curly hairs of manhood. With a direct urgency he pulled his shirt open, and there was a flood of rose petals. Tears welled up in Jeff Vogel's closed eyes. He missed the man in the fur bikini.
