Creating suspense, and then maintaining it and building, as Dikiyoba does particularly well, in my opinion, is far more difficult than writing the moment of climax.

Sorry. I spent the weekend in Oxford, and didn't have time to play yet. I most certainly will though. :)

So this is how it is, huh? 3 years of saying no, and then as soon as it comes down to a fight to the death, you want me on your side?

Anyway.

1) Alec vs Nemesis:

With a flurry of images depicting the world as seen from somebody's anus, Alec stomps into the ring, and calls forth Nemesis, who slowly strides forward. Alec begins by telling Nemesis, and the surrounding spectators, about the Evils of Capitalism, Israel and Israeli Capitalism (with heckling thoughtfully provided by ET), all of which flies over Nem's head - he never gets involved in such topics. Alec is a little nonplussed - he can continue arguing, but he has no idea if it's having any effect. He stops, and asks for a honourable battle, something Nem would enjoy, and even offers to allow Nem a free strike. As Nemesis raises his weapon, however, a poster of ****** ******* ****** smacks into his face. Alec slopes off into the night, smirking.

2) Saunders vs Jewels

3) Nicothodes vs Arancaytar

4) Thralni vs Dintiradan

5) Delicious Vlish vs Alorael:

Delicious Vlish floats into the arena, already knowing where Alorael is - Vlish are mildly telepathic, so no sniper bullet it going to be embedding itself into this squishy ballon's body any time soon. With a gleeful chuckle, Vlishy casts Daze. And again. And again. Unfortunately, high-level monsters are immune, and for the purposes of this deathmatch, posts mean levels. It seems both combatants favourite tactics won't work, so Alorael throws down his rifle and picks up several knitting needles. Vlishy prepares his tentacles. The two stroll forward, to meet each other, as thunder roars in the background. Stopping a few metres short of one another, the two draw weapons. Alorael raises his needles. Vlishy flexes his tentacles. And then... with a blast of mental noise, pictures begin filling Alorael's head. Disturbing pictures. Pictures of nipples and vlish breeding habits. As Alorael struggles to fight his disgust (and deep-seated curiousity), a fearsome strike to his face sends him flying. Vlish wins.

6) Tyranicus vs Stareye

7) Ephesos vs Goldenking

8) Alex vs Salmon

More later.

Two notes:

1) On Last.fm, there is an option to delete individual tracks from your charts, up to two weeks after it is played. So if you want to hide the fact you own Lindsey Lohan's single, you can. Also, I have set iTunes to collect songs I listen to, and WMP not to, so there are ways around it. And if you really want to, you can temporarily turn off the whole thing for a while.

2) Anybody in the Kingdom of Loathing, and of high enough level to join a clan (i.e. three), apply to the the clan "The Spiderwebbers", or else message a clannie and we'll white-list you.

From http://diet.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Vegetarian_Sushi :

quote:
Contrary to what many people think, sushi is not synonymous with raw fish. In fact, it is possible to have traditional, yet vegetarian sushi. Sushi refers to sticky rice that has been seasoned with rice wine vinegar and then cut or shaped into small, bite-sized pieces; it is commonly wrapped with seaweed. Additional ingredients, sometimes including fish, are used in sushi, either as a topping or as the center of the wrap. Vegetarian sushi uses other ingredients for the topping or wrap center, for example raw or cooked vegetables or tofu

I'm a little disappointed I was allowed to get away with that remark.

Drew: Sushi, which I assume that to be, is vile. I tried the vegetarian stuff once with a friend, and, after managing to get over the terrible taste, spent the next ten minutes holding her head as she vomited.

Nethergate is ony available on CD, so the extra $5 is for that. Nethergate: Resurrection doesn't (although you can still buy it on a CD), so it's a little cheaper.

Or, at least, that was how it was when I ordered the game.

Would that increase damage, like a berserk rage? Or, I know! It could turn monsters to stone with an evil look!

(I apologise unreservedly.)

I like playing as Shapers. Adrogyny for the win!
Other times, I really don't care. I can play as a female just as easily as I can a male. I even, on rare occasions, flit between the two (although I have done that less than 30 times in three months).

In brighter news, it appears that Drakefyre is off the hook for RiB. Unless Nikki makes the radical decision to release Discord. Then I suppose RiB will return to being the default in-joke for oldbies and educated newbies.

Of course, then Drakefyre might decide to release RiB. But that would also entail the Fluffy Turtles giving back sanity, UBB stabilizing, and Richard White being forced into a single point in time. And I just don't see that happening.

You're the only person still talking about Discord!! You and TGM.

Just remember, the contest. The contest.

It's unlikely that somebody who has the full game will pay $30 dollars to get the same thing again.

I think an important thing is pricing - even at the slightly higher $28/30 price tag, they're way cheaper than any "professional" game. I can pay £13 or so pounds for a SW game that I'll be playing for a long time, or £30 for a game from a big company that I might play for, if not an equal length of time given my BoA fanboi status, a similar one. Financially, SW games appeal to me, and it just so happens that I feel Jeff's games are good enough for him to be charging more - in effect, I'm getting a bargain.

Salmon: You shouldn't have censored that. Let's add a little spice to the thread!
