Being pro-Rebel really hurts with the Barrier Zone. If you have gotten the Repair Moseh quest and seen Shaper Duncan about the passage bracelet then it's not as bad. The passage bracelet means that the only creation that will attack you is the one you are fighting and its friends will ignore you.

The exception is in Thornton where there are two specials that are always hostile.

Try to stay behind the fort walls. You may lose a few rebels when they venture out on their own. Try to use speed and shelding spores with blessing to keep them all buffed. The wingbolts tend to retreat when damaged. Wait them out since there is a guardian that attacks at the end. Also if you go out too far there is a regular patrol with kyshakks waiting that you would rather do later when the rebels are rescued.

Icy crystals work great for a range attack on wingbolts.

You don't get the skill points as often under A3/BoA system. Early in the game this means waiting for them when they could be helpful for weapon skills. However BoA means that you can train in any town instead of waiting to get back to home base.

It depends on how much is changed in the game engine, how many new graphics are made, and how long Jeff spends thinking about the plot. He is currently working on the new game engine and doing the Celtic half of Nethergate:Resurrection.

Figure about 6 months for the game and 2 months for testing. He does need some time off for rest and recreation.

GF1 and GF2 both have fixed economies so the shop keepers will eventually run out of money. Drain them dry by selling what you don't need. Keep the pods and spores since you will probably find uses for them.

I Killed the Unbound in Geneforge 4: Rebellion

Back during beta testing if you killed any of the Unbound during testing with Greta (I killed 2 by accident - lightning aura from kyshakks), you were trapped in the testing room. You never got the option to leave and if you attacked an Unbound after it went passive then you would auto die.

After that slip about using skill points in combat, I thought of a way to do it. Unused skill points can be expended in combat to give an extra action. Now you would have to decide with saving them for a more powerful character or burn them to do more things in a major fight. This would keep some characters at a lower level.

I still don't think Jeff has the game balance quite right for a Nethergate version of BoA/A3 game engine. The first version was way too powerful for the players.

I like what I hear, especially that Rentar won't be back.

The Anama will make for an interesting challenge.

I had the problem that it will only allow you to open the game during your move in the fight. The program ignores your commands while it is doing the monster's actions.

Oh, so the Shapers are more ethical, are they now? in Geneforge 4: Rebellion

Shapers are just shifitng tactics. The creation of independent minded serviles that will willingly kill themselves upon command is just one example. They may be willing to negotiate will Rebels to win the war, but some like Shaper Grim are still old school about their thinking. It's more a case of situational ethics than becoming more ethical.

Where You At Now? in General

The thing to watch out for in graduate academic programs is that there will be a decent advisor in your area of interest that will be around for years. Otherwise you can spend years having to grind out a dissertation on something you don't care about because that's what your advisor wants.

Also watch out for bigotry. Some departments like psychology are know for having narrow minded approaches on how their area is to be approached. You can find that a different interpretation is graded as wrong even if you can support your view.

Long since graduated and stuck in a rut.

At least I've got Nethergate: Resurection to keep me going. Jeff doesn't like Roman druids, but they like killing faeries.

I think its 14 or 15. Comeback later if you don't have enough. Everything is 15 or less except for one control panel in the final fortress.

There are various places where they refer to the power comsumption needed to transport large quantities of matter through the planet. For a small party of adventurers they don't need as much. Most of the time you are using the same teleporter so its designed for larger loads.

Of course the recent mini flammage will raise some accounts.

What now? (Stuck) in Avernum 4

You don't need more than tool use 16 for traps. Any door above that needs a mage using unlock. Your mage should be the one with tool use for maximum effect.

To get past the lower level barred gate, go south from the stairs and then go east to an altar room. Go north until you come to a window that looks out on the gate. The lever is hidden next to the window by being almost the same color as the floor. Turn up your monitor brightness to see it. You need your Vahnatai allies to be there next to the gate before you can confront R-I.

The Cotra test is best reached by entering the chitrach tunnels near Fort Dranlon. Go to the northwest corner of that map section and follow the tunnel north until you come to a 6 way junction. Follow the northwest passage to the test.

Nice finish Dikiyoba.

We weren't that bad at confusing people about GF4, we were worse. Wait until Nethergate: Resuurection and the lost ornk quest.

You might see some leveling stagnation in Nethergate: Resurrection since it uses A3 game engine. Experience depends upon relative level of monster and character.

The Warded Sea Caves and the Electrified Fields are both test of moving your character around without getting too close. There is also the Eye's Road and Poryphra South Road as later areas.
