Dahak - try Robert A. Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. It's was written back in the days before we got there, but it is fairly realistic.

Also the topics like Insidious Infiltrator and earlier ones mention leadership levels to get rewards in different places. There are other topics covering mechanics.

Jeff did make the game for fighting and not as he considers them the geek skills.

Supposedly if you get into the corner that Alwan retreats to, you can avoid the energy blasts. You should be able to kill them before that becomes a problem if you charm a few shaper guards to help.

I think that lever turns off the plates so you can find the gazerskin sandals.

It was the easiest way for Jeff to allow you to have control of the outcome. Otherwise you would have to figure out how to sabotage on your own if you wanted to.

For food and drugs they usually take it back, but large items they assume you will dispose of so they don't have to.

That's why there are the Darwin Awards to help clear out the gene pool. ET ought to approve of them.

Recalls keep people from seeing if it might really be safe.

I found out when a friend got a flat that he was still driving on recalled Firestone 500 tires (it's an 80s thing). He had gotten his money back from the recall and they didn't want the tire so he kept using it. At least he had it on the rear so the blow out on the highway didn't cause him to lose steering.

As long as a product is out there, someone will use it.

The Western Sea doesn't have to be impassable for a flat world. More likely it's large like the Pacific Ocean without enough islands or a continental region along the north that ships could follow. Given a long enough distance with nothing to see, most explorers will give up due to lack of supplies,

An infiltrator can take advantage of dexterity/missle weapons to increase damage with crystals to get one more attack while hasted. Why make only two attacks when you can have three?

Nethergate is liked by a small few. It has that great elevation in the landscape that make Avernum fun, It's got some great ideas that just weren't popular with most gamers and the interface has a few problems.

Jeff has fixed most of them for Nethergate: Resurrection. At least enough to please most Avernum fans.

We're celebrating the Jewish exodus from Egyptian slavery and the start of a 40 trek to their homeland. Proving God has a sense of humor, his Chosen people get one of the few areas in the Mid East without oil.

I'd settle for the FDA enforcing regulations. It lets too many drugs on the market under the provision that further clinical trials will be run for adverse effects and the companies never bother or withhold negative results.

Some stuff being kept off the market should be allowed after testing to determine why only a small percentage can benefit and how to find them. There is supposed to be DNA testing to see if those people that benefit have a common gene type. Its been shown that having a defective version of some genes increases adverse reactions for hundreds of drugs. The best case is no pain relief from non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin,Tylenol, etc.).

They are already testing in cancer patients for the most effective drug treatment using genetic matching.

The FDA allows drugs that are only marginally better or sometimes worse than placebos into the system. The worst part about exploding creations like pyroroamers, burning kyshakk, etc. is being in their collateral damage zone when they die. It's nice doing it to opponents, but I can't see risking having it happen to myself.

I always wound up stockpiling somewhere convenient where I could sell if I needed cash for training or spells. The money limit is a pain but you get used to it.

Thuryl - Some of us have slightly different views on what is evil.

Even when drug manufactuers disclose adverse side effects, they do so in a manner to minimize them. Saying that the effects are only temporary without mentioning that this applies to very short term use and not the long term use that they push for treatment. That the chance of occuring is subdivided into enough catergories to get below 1%.

Also you can get placed on a drug with adverse effects against your will and/or legal directive by court order or doctor's order in a hospital or nursing home. Try getting someone off when the drug is not working and there are very obvious adverse reactions occuring.

I took one relative out of a nursing home after having this happen. One of the drugs had an FDA warning to discontinue immediately because of health risks if it wasn't working. Since it was an anti-diarrheal medication it was very obvious that it was having no effect. The others were causing brain damage.

After he gives you the mission he retreats to the Inner Shaping hall that you can only access after you go to Northforge Warrens and investigate. When you get the news that you need and it's obvious you can gain access to the Inner Shaping hall.
