I have bugs in my computer, but those are darn impossible to squish.

Dikiyoba doesn't mind insects and such as long as they don't bug Dikiyoba.

No offense, Niemand, but if your scenario has the basic plotline I'm thinking of, it's been overused even before A4 came out. Don't panic though. If it's good (that is, not thrown together and really boring), I'll play it. It's tough trying to come up with reasonable plots for BoA scenarios.

Dikiyoba wants to see Giant Intelligent Friendly Talking Zombies. That would be weird.

They're going to end up uniting the two worlds, sad as that may be. Seriously, they keep on sharing graphics, and today I had a dialogue where a Vahnatai told me he was not a Shaper. Capitalized, and without mention of crystals. You'd think that JV would start to avoid stuff like that after these silly conspiracies start floating around unless they're true.
It's obvious. Most Shapers are going to end up using a few too many canisters, which will give them gray skin, bulbous eyes, a skeletel frame, an inability to survive in the sun, a love for crystals, and will flee underground, where they will call themselves Vahnatai. The only thing they will retain of their previous identity is the title "Shaper" for their wizards and dislike for common humans.

Shoali and the non-Shapers of the Shaper lands will meet up, evolve into one powerful society that takes over the entire surface of the planet and call their country the Empire.

Drakons will become dragons. Drayks will become drakes. Clawbugs will become chitratches. Battle alphas will become giants. Fyoras will become various annoying reptiles. Eyebeasts and gazers will become, well, eyebeasts and gazers. And giant rats will still be giant rats. Demon-summoning will become perfectly legal. Nephil and sliths will have been created by the Shapers/Vahnatai. Etc, etc.

Then the Empire will stumble upon the underground tunnels and say, "Hey, why don't we get rid of some annoying people?" You know the story from there.

Dikiyoba wonders where the other class of Vahnatai magicians, "Keepers," came from.

I was actually disappointed to see that Avernum 4 is more like Geneforge, since I liked the worlds being distinct. Oh well. As soon as the Windows version is out, I will try it anyway and will probably enjoy it.

Don't worry. Dikiyoba will live.

I don't sign most of them that way. And I already apologized to Alorael for signing a few of my posts that way. The wording just sounded awkward the way I prefer to sign this time around.

Dikiyoba usually prefers to sign off more like this, which is a little different, at least. And Dikiyoba is not Alorael and should not confuse people like that. But enough about me. Let's talk about Haakai some more...

Edit: Fix awkward sentence.

Probably a bit young and stupid for you, since you seem to like hardcore fantasy and science fiction, but the best example I can use to demonstrate that statement is Harry Potter. The first three were pretty good, the fourth was fabulous, but the fifth one? Ugg. The sixth one? Pretty much the same. At least we know there can only be seven and the seventh one has to be better because it has the climax of the whole series in it.

Edit: Forgot to credit quote.

Don't you just long for the days when you could send some hobbits out to throw a little ring into a volcano and then the world would be saved? *Sigh.* Life has gotten so complicated.

Maybe Alien zombies with laserguns will destroy the world when their asteroid-shaped spaceship crashes into the Pacific Ocean and the resulting tidal wave wipes out the entire western coastline of North America? Spiderweb Software will be completely wiped out, along with all the Giant Intelligent Friendly Talking Spiders. And we all know that the GIFTS are secretly in charge of the world.

If I Could Make My Own Fantasy Game... in General

I prefer to write stories to imaginary fantasy games. I don't have to learn programming and I'm less limited in terms of what I can do. If I had the ability to create a fantasy game, I probably would have been able to create a BoA scenario by now. Plus, it keeps my writing skills sharp. Of course, it's doesn't have that open-ended, create-and-discover-as-you-go-along feel that a game does. Oh well. Can't have everything in life.

Seriously, though, tt's good to see creativity and the possibility of more computer games that aren't gory first-shooters some day.

Dikiyoba, who didn't actually mind arghhhhhhhhh's creature topic and was disappointed that it was locked before Dikiyoba could post some bizarre fantastical creature.

Everyone knows water is more dangerous than fire. If your flying party lands in water, everyone drowns. If you get hit by fire, maybe one person (or nephil, or slith) dies. Maybe. And ice is less dangerous than water because it does the same thing as fire.

You know what a fun science class at my school is? Forensic science. There's nothing like working with cyanide or seeing your DNA on a stick. Woohoo!

Edit: Minor layout changes.

PS: I don't think I've been probably welcomed to the forums. Did I miss it, have you stopped doing that, or did you realize that I wasn't sane to begin with?

Off-topic, but I really, really want an "assassinate" program along with the standard virus-scan, firewall, spam-blocking protect-your-computer programs. Anytime there was an annoying pop-up or an unwanted program that was bugging me, I want to send an assassin to hunt it down and wipe it out. It really bugs me that the only thing exhibiting virus-like behavior are unwanted virus-protection programs and that my computer came with dozens of unwanted programs already installed, several of which refuse to die without serious time and effort on my part. I want to type in the program and hit the "assassinate" button and be done with it. Complete lord of my computer!

Lord Dikiyoba. My kingdom is my computer. Bow, program scum, or I will send my assassin after your data!

With the exception of God Items, which exist just because, über-equipment (and über-spell levels) is the result of increasingly high-level parties needing increasingly better options to make playing high scenarios interesting.

I think über-equipment is okay, provided that the enemies and challenges needed to get ahold of that equipment is more difficult. The only other option is to start over with a new party, which is no fun.

I personally want to see a series powerful one-handed weapons, thus giving the player a reason to go search out powerful shields. I sell all my shields the moment I get them, because I can't equip them with four blessed halberds or whatever I happen to have. I also think pants and shoes are neglected pieces of equipment. Well, some shoes are pretty powerful, but I've never been satisfied with them.

I will gladly try almost any scenario. I'd love to see some new ones. However, I will only keep and replay good scenarios (a semi-reasonable plot, no major bugs, reasonable enemies, no profanity, no racism, no sex, etc.)

I'm active in that I still mess around the the BoA editor. I'm not active in that I probably won't ever get a complete scenario done, or at least anytime soon. I'd rather write stories instead. Take it however you want.

I play a singleton guardian on normal in G1, use the best melee weapon available and only a few spells, and make only a vlish or two whenever I encounter something a little too tough for me. Mostly just those 800-hp Augmented Sholai in G1.

My eventual goal is to play G1 through as a Shaper with no creations, no items except for armor and swords, and no magic while on torment.

Dikiyoba apologizes for being off-topic but can't resist.

I prefer running in one direction. Either you move towards the baddies so that you can see them, or you run away from them and can end combat.

Dikiyoba, who hates entering combat for minor foes that you can beat with one wack, which sometimes happened in G1, though maybe not A4.

Actually, A2 and A3 have four slith and nephil graphics. BoA has five, but that fifth one looks distinctly different than the others.

Dikiyoba wonders why all NPC nephil are all brown or yellow, while three nephil graphics are gray.

My strategy in A2 was, once you got a Far Sight scroll (since you got one before you learned the spell) was to carry it around, find a likely spot, save the game, use the scroll, reload, and enter the secret passage. In BoA, all you needed was to examine the town with the scenario editor.

Dikiyoba knows that those strategies may be considered cheating, but are better than going leftrightleftrightupdownupdown all the time.

A2 was the first game I got my hands on, and the first of the epic-roleplaying-adventure game I'd ever played. As such, I enjoyed (and still enjoy) it immensely. I didn't try any Exile games. I didn't like Nethergate because it felt clunky (to me), I was disappointed that you could only be human in A1 and there was no "quest" button. I loved G1 and came to love G2. BoA is only worth it for the scenario editor, if I ever get around to finishing one. I didn't like A3 or G3 enough to buy them. I am also disappointed that the A4 environment is more like Geneforge than the other Avernum games.
