Somehow, the giant chiefs always know when to drink their invincibility potions. And Dikiyoba isn't complaining when the monster chugs a healing potion at full health. It's sad that Dikiyoba's party won't get it as a reward after killing the monster, but at least the monster won't be able to use it when two-thirds of its health is gone and won't be able to restore its health. Originally by dintiradan: quote:You could do a mini-series, but every scenario would have to stand alone and be able to be played in any order. So they could be related but they really couldn't be parts of the same plot. It seems like having installments of the same plot would be more limiting than freeing. Originally written by Hawk King: quote:There is something you could do if you wanted to take the time. Either create a special encounter around the cauldron or when the party looks at the cauldron (specobj script) that either gives food (Empire Archives in A2 has that and Holding Cells in Valley of the Dying Things has something similar), or use Thuryl's suggestion to create a cauldon container. Dikiyoba would like to see a special enounter where the party sneak a ladleful of stew and then is whacked over the head with a rolling pin by the watchful cook. Sometimes, the little things are better than the big things. No one expects the little things. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

The more an idea is floated around, the more acceptable it becomes. For example: Studies have shown that people who were somehow abused as children grow up to be abusers and that people who harm humans usually started by harming animals. The general child who plays violent video games isn't guaranteed to grow up to be a killer but may be more likely to be able to go out and actually kill someone. On a semi-related note, someone needs to point out to the pro-life groups who oppose the vaccination to eliminate the virus that causes cervical cancer because it might encourage premarital sex to wake up and think about all the women who die each year because they don't have the vaccination. It's more complicated then that, but still... Dikiyoba warns you never to trust an extremist. They will distort the values they represent. Dikiyoba is extreme about that. I've never seen any NPC use a light source. I've seen the guardian (or black shade) in A2 who always picks up that candle. Every time. Sometimes it darts around the table and picks up the other one. Stupid monster. A custom graphic with the monster outlined in a light color could give the effect that it was glowing. The slith avatar and Garzahd in A2 are examples. It might not be exactly what you are looking for but it can be effective. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I have a scenario I'm working on. It's a bit larger than recommended but it's a simple creation. I'm not planning on doing a huge scenario with new creatures, new graphics, fancy scripting, or anything like that. But it has an interesting story and there will be a lot of exploration and details that will hopefully keep it from being boring or repetitive. The only problem is I'm really busy right now so it won't be done anytime soon. Hopefully some day it will be. At least Dikiyoba is working on it whenever Dikiyoba can spare the time. I really don't want to hear or see any form of porn in any media form. And that counts for books too. Dikiyoba swears that in one book Dikiyoba read, at least a third of it was porn. Needless to say, the book was terrible. Let's take a perfectly good plot and do nothing with it but throw in a bunch of porn. And then everyone dies (I secretly blame STDs) and the book ends. That's not very realistic, even if it is true. Dikiyoba wishes Dikiyoba could sneak into Bargha (sp?) and cause all sorts of havoc, regardless of the danger. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I don't mind "static" as much as I mind minor characters not having anything to say. I don't need an in-depth conversation but when I click on a guard, townsperson, cow, etc., I like do have some description, even if it's only "This cow, like every other cow you've ever met, can't talk. It just moos once and resumes grazing." I don't like towns where only the important characters can be talked to and no one else can. Dikiyoba. Maybe a lava bat or a few mung rats can be on a ledge that separates them from the party so that the party has to use magic/missiles to kill them. But the party should eventually be able to get onto that ledge. Dikiyoba. Edit: Spelling. Just games that require one hand on a mouse and one on a keyboard. Which is quite a few of them, but fortunately not Spiderweb Software games. Dikiyoba can't think of anything else to say. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Scams are bad but at least they have a point. The scammer obviously wants to get rich. But what is the point of glurges? "True friends are blah, blah, blah..send this to five people and you'll get good luck. If you don't pass it on, you will have bad luck. If you don't send this back to the person who sent it to you, you aren't a true friend, etc., etc." Dikiyoba takes great pleasure in hitting the "delete" button before Dikiyoba even reads them. Dikiyoba realized that it wasn't the original because Dikiyoba just threw in a number to a statistic Dikiyoba heard a long time ago. Besides, the irony is obvious. It's like saying that every rule has an exception. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

In G1 and G2, you can self-Bob just by staying unaligned. Or joining a sect at the very end. Or joining a sect, leaving, killing them, and joining another sect. Dikiyoba thinks the playability lies not within the game but within yourself. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Are you saying I can get a registered copy of Avernum 2 for Windows after getting a copy for a Mac without paying another 25 bucks? That sounds too good to be true. With the money Dikiyoba can save, Dikiyoba can afford to buy another Spiderweb Software game. Edit: Sig change. Originally by Thuryl: quote:But its still funny and oddly satisfying to contemplate, given all the problems spywhere gives us... Dikiyoba has heard of sites that give out prolific spammers' email so that annoyed recipients of spam can sign the spammers up for every junk email available. You're on your own to find them, though. Never mind. I redownloaded Bahssikava again and now I can't get either of the errors. That makes me mad because of all the time and number of downloads I spent trying to get it to work before. But if it does happen again in any scenario, at least I know what to do. On the plus side, Dikiyoba can now complete Bahssikava without any workarounds. Yaaay! [SARCASTIC RANT] The thing that upsets me most about computers is the inability to control them. If I tell stupid icons to get out of the taskbar, why can't they go away and never come back? And if I hit the cancel button on a message box, it has no right to pop back up, change the Internet page, and resize the window. The human sitting at the computer should control it, not some idiot programmer who coded that in. The computer should obey me! And why are the only things that act like viruses, spyware, and pop-ups advertisements for protection against said issues? It's either evil, ingenious, or both. [/SARCASTIC RANT] Dikiyoba's shaping skills are clearly not high enough... Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I think old-timers, if I may use that word, I disappointed because A4 is very different than the Avernum series while newer players like it because they haven't played the original Avernums, or at least havn't played them as much. But that's just a general observation. Dikiyoba felt like Dikiyoba should post here in hopes of starting a new page. Edit: Darn!
