Anger and frustration are short-lived. Unless Kelandon has become completely unhappy with BoA, I'm sure we'll see another scenario from him. Posts: 1233 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

I tried D&D once and didn't like it all that much. This poll raises an interesting question. What do people mean when they say "get a life?" Do they mean do something more productive or interact with more people? I think the common definition of life is fraught with chip crumbs, frequent use of myspace/facebook, and the occasional party, due to the fact that I've seen plenty of productive people cut down by party-goers. Considering all the work that went into Exodus, I'd be pretty tired too. Making scenarios is hard work, specifically in the planning stages. If you can get past that first difficult stage, the rest becomes pure technical work. I'm sure when inspiration hits, Kelandon will be back with another well-crafted adventure. Start with the most simple form of scripting, for instance, displaying a dialog box when the player walks over a space. Work from there, reading other designer's scripts for examples. Eventually, the script structure will start making sense. It's hard work but worth it in the end. Posts: 1233 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

I suggest you learn to draw similar structures pixel by pixel. Essentially, it's the same thing as drawing on paper, just on a different scale. It's hard at first, but after a little practice it gets much easier and the results look cleaner than something scanned and resized. Shading is where it starts to get much harder. The easiest way to learn is by doing, and something I learned is that it's easier to copy something than to create. Go to google images and type in the subject of your graphic. Find a good image and try to copy it as best you can in BoA scale. Eventually, you'll learn how to create believable graphics from scratch. For instance, I used an image like this to help me craft... ...this. EDIT: Shameless plug: My first floor graphics, huzzah! Pyre's first form is more a battle of luck than skill. I remember barely surviving the two attacks every round and praying that Inner Fire wouldn't bring a third or fourth attack. My trick to beating Pyre (with a HLPM minimum level req. party no less :D ) was using the Rod of Arcane Summon. If it isn't already, set your difficulty to torment, you'll want the summons to have mountains of HP to survive Pyre's onslaught and high amounts of damage. The difficulty doesn't change the amount of damage Pyre does, so, even though he gains an HP boost in torment, the damage output from summons more than makes up for it. This seems like a very important piece of code to leave out in the final version. ;) I'm just glad I checked the Read Me rather than turn around. [ Saturday, March 31, 2007 18:53: Message edited by: Enraged Slith ] Posts: 1233 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

I didn't think Shapers could absorb other Shaper's creations. Isn't this why they have trouble with Drakons in the first place? Well, in the Geneforge 1 you begin the game by riding on a Drayk Boat thing. I'd like to point out a bug and I don't feel like PMing Lazarus again. There might be a spoiler here, so don't read ahead. *** Along with numerous small spelling errors, there's a reference made to a non-existant Sergeant Trey during the escape from the Hobgoblin Warg Riders. *** Good scenario. It's driving plot only made it more frustrating when I lost. :P Posts: 1233 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

Excellent start, though I'm having a bit of trouble getting by the wolves with this pre-fab singleton. I probably shouldn't be playing this scenario. I like to horde nondurable items until a time when I absolutely need them... which never happens. Posts: 1233 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |
