And by mouse movement you mean keyboard movement... right?

I don't really ever use the keyboard, unless I'm looking for secret doors. In any other scenario, I use the mouse for moving all the time.

Yes. Yes I do.

—Alorael, who also wishes that Avernums came with Jedi handwave instructions. Or, failing that, easy instructions for performing memory implantation with a DeWalt power drill.

I never use mouse movement for Avernum. Keypad is so much more intuitive.

Good, but compared to using the keyboard, bad.

No, E3 didn't have that - leastways not in Windows. I should know, I remember those long nights of "*click*click*click*click*click*click*click* click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*click*".

Sister: Are you playing that dumb game again?

Me: How did you know?

They keyboard of course allowed rapid movement just by holding the key. The mouse didn't, hence the noise.

The Avernum games had it though. It's a very convenient feature for walking long distances (and I hope this is what Drakey means by point and click).

On the other hand, the Geneforge way of imitating real-time strategy games was a bit nauseating. Select a group of characters by dragging a box around them? At least they didn't respond with some stupid "Aye Sir" whenever ordered to move. In the beginning, I nearly tried to send the serviles off to gather wood and stone a la Age of Empires. "Now where can I make a new Shaper?"

Early 2006 for Mac, although I suspect it could be released in time for the holidays.

I guess an holidays release could be more profitable, although tradition indicates around March 2006 for Mac release, and earlier summer for Windows release.

But I'm just speculating.

The Windows release is traditionally around three months after the Mac release.

Drakey, could you clarify the statement you made in the "A4 Almost Doomed!" thread?

quote:
Grid with the mouse.
Does this mean movement will be exclusively with the mouse, or just that mouse movement will be an option? I absolutely hate mouse movement.

I do hope A4 doesn't rely too heavily on Geneforge graphics. Overuse of Geneforge graphics would I'm sure take away from the experience.

Did use of Nethergate graphics in Avernum detract from the Avernum experience? I would expect about the same level of graphic retention.

—Alorael, who is perfectly happy to see good Geneforge graphics recycled. Maybe servant minds and serviles don't have as much of a place in Avernum and won't reappear.

I'm guessing that the monster plague is caused by Grah-Hoth since he can't really die and he probably had a chance to do some evil mojo during the Tower of Magi incident.

I mean the Geneforge graphics such as the shaper etc. I hope if your party contains humans they don't have to look like shapers or guardians. Other elements are fine in crossing over.

I'm sure the Geneforge Gazer/Eyebeast graphics will be used though. I like those.

I always use mouse movement. I especially like it in Avernum, where you can hold the button in and move about 30 mph. Even on BoE, I don't mind the rapid clicking to get somewhere.

I usually use the keyboard in Exile/Avernum and rarely use the mouse, but I like having the option. A combination of Exile/Avernum/GF movement would be interesting.

Unless that parade is for the gophers. In which case, the more the merrier right?

And I didn't like the Gazer graphics... sure, they're better than blobs with eyes, but they really didn't appeal. And now Drakey says (or implies) they're in...

Woe is me!
