I occasionally play female characters, but pretty much always on a later play through for the sake getting different dialog options or things like that. Though I am in favor, in a general way, of having the option of playing a female character, it's mainly for the sake females who will be playing the game.

Personally, I like to actually role play my characters, and it's harder to really connect with the character and get into the game when the character is the opposite gender. Not to mention that I prefer watching my character run around with big biceps and chiseled pecs and abs, not big icky boobs. :P

Which brings me to the point that now that games are getting pretty good at gender equality, how about letting us play as gay characters? For the 8,000th time, I don't want to flirt with the busty tavern wench!

I would disagree, but I'm not sure I've ever actually really hated anything in my life. I've disliked things with great intensity on occasion, but I'm just not a hater. And I can say that I find liking things to be more interesting than disliking them. Especially passionately liking things, reveling in their every detail, enjoyment helping keep you fascinated in it's every new twist and turn.

I fairly clearly recall being added to the list for mockery that apparently bruised poor fragile Tullegolar.

EDIT: In fact, now that I think of it, I believe it was the thread where we were talking about "Harrison Bergeron". Ego said it was one of favorite stories, and I commented something along the lines of "So, your favorite story is about an emperor who is a short-sighted, arrogant freak that ends up getting shot down by the administration?"

This reminds me of something I found amusing from a thread a while ago.

Alec: In early 2003, I believe it was, I was playing Fallout. I had just cleansed Antium by holy fire when something popped. Real loud, inside the monitor, and the screen flickered out. Then it came back -- upside down, at half the normal width, in grayscale. A split second later, I caught the most terrifying odor I've ever smelled in my life.

In a small room, illuminated by the hostile glare of a CRT that chose that moment to buy the farm loud, fast, and hard, I smelled roasting ham.

I was out as soon as it took to rip the surge protector out of the wall and run like hell. Days later, the monitor still smelled like ham. I imagine it still does, but have no way to check.

dareva: I am curious, yet horrified, about what caused the ham smell.

Saunders: Alec had been using the monitor to cook his morning bacon by irradiation for years. Unbeknown to him, a slice had fallen down one day into the dark recesses of the casing, and had mutated into a unique life form. As it began to explore its world, it accidentally shorted the power supply, causing havoc to the peripheral operation, and ending its brief existence in a blaze of ham smell.

Given that I still live with my parents, who are the only ones who still don't know, "difficult" is definitely one of the words that applies.

It is really nice to talk to people who consider it a call for congratulations though. Thanks.

Slarty and I have both previously mentioned that we're gay. I'm just wondering who the third is.

And since I've already made the drama of life public knowledge around here, the extremely summarized update is that I'm now openly, and happily, gay, and an (soon to be officially) ex-Mormon.

In my head I actually mentally pronounce them "omg" and something like "lowl", sort of like a supercrunched version of 'l'augh 'ou't 'l'oud. I worry that I'm going to get too used to doing that and respond to some one by saying omg.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, but video is even better.

Or, for those without a video camera, at least give a voice clip and a pic.

It's not supposed to be a satellite. It's supposed to just sit there, completely empty, awaiting the possible demise of these boards, when it will spring to life as a near-seamless replacement.

I propose the creation of back-up boards. Some one who has time, and the desire and knowledge do so, should make a set of boards set up exactly like these ones. Same sub-forums (Exile trilogy, General, etc.) same links, and so forth.

If UBB ever dies or Jeff decides to get rid of the forums, we could just have a bot or a few ambitious members transfer the active topics from the archives to the new boards and the community could continue almost uninterrupted. Should one of those situations arise, I'm pretty sure Jeff would be willing to take the time to change the Forums link on his page to say "Here's where our fans tend to hang out."
