It's not that bad. You eventually find your way back.

Sometimes I'd like a custom title, but if I can't have one, I could easily live without it. I'm just here more for the fun of it, not to have a flashy title.

G3-why do you dislike it in Geneforge Series

There's only one thing I don't like about G3; it's everyone's attitude of, "If you're not for us, you're against us." With all the major NPCs having absolute opinions, I can't ride the fence for most of the game anymore!

Randomizer's right, everyone's code is unique.

I recommend that you get the games on CD when you register, just so it's easier to re-register if necessary.

I prefer to use both the keyboard and the mouse. I use the keyboard mainly for casting spells, talking to people, and looking at objects. I use the mouse mostly for movement, and to click on the directions if there's something I want to look at, talk to, or target that's not quite in the window.

You can always cheat so it the game thinks you've never used any. This will then give you the best of both worlds--great training from loyalists, and canister addiction with no ill effects.

The message you got should've told you how high your total rune reading needs to be. Also, you can look it up in the scripts.

Got glasses when I was 12. Never wanted contacts; I could never stand anything going that close to my eyes, let alone touching them.

Edit: Pun forgiven.

That guy is using a Vista.

I have Vista Home, I think.

Yes, I do have a watch (I'm wearing it now, in fact), but when I'm on the computer, I prefer to just look at the clock in the system tray. Much quicker for me.

I know what you mean. I've come to the conclusion that the Geneforge series wasn't coded for windowed play.

I've played the Geneforge games on Win98, XP, and Vista. None of them has a windowed mode. I wish it did so I could keep an eye on the time; some of us have to stop for sleep. (I once played until 3A.M., local time, without realizing it.)

EDIT: Iffy - I've long since tried your suggestions. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they don't work.

1) Buy some dexterity and (when you reach the west end of the Great Cave) gymnastics. The number of hits you take should then go southwards.

2) Fire is an excellent way to take out eyebeasts. Bolt of Fire, Fireblast, and Divine Fire will take them down.

If memory serves, there should be an item or two that will protect you against paralysis, but I can't recall where they are at the moment.

Some older versions of A1 had a bug where the multi-targeting didn't work with Smite. I suggest going to Spiderweb's site and download a patch. It should work properly after the patch is installed.

Excuse me while I take a moment and laugh hysterically over that anecdote. (pauses so I can catch my breath)

No creation of mine ever lasts long enough to get named. I prefer to play as a singleton; therefore, I rarely if ever have a creation at my side for long.

No it isn't, but it can be nice to have if your playing style is as spell-heavy as mine. And just so you know, if memory serves, no artifact quest is truly mandatory. I can' tell you how to get any of them, though, since I haven't played E3 in a few years.

How true it is. I've been known to do everything(everything I know of, that is), by day 100 at the absolute latest.

That's pretty much how I do it. My preferred order is get a crystal or two, do a bunch of minor quests to boost my XP, get the remaining crystal(s), take out the portal, and kill Garzahd.

Then again, as others have pointed out, the order doesn't matter in the slightest.

How Did You Find Spiderweb? in General

When I bought my first computer (I think 1998, but I'm not sure anymore), I also bought a CD with a bunch of shareware games on it. Two of these were BoE and E3. I first installed BoE (the first one I found) and played the "Valley of Dying Things" scenario until I had it nearly memorized. Later that year, I went back to the CD and installed E3, then played it until I could do just about everything in the demo by around day 30.
