It's been a long time since I've played E3 all the way through, but I think there's a secret passage somewhere that will let you reach it.

Ah, school, I remember it well. College is now a distant memory too. As Mark Twain put it, "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education."

Nowadays, I'm currently teaching myself the ins & outs of the stock market, and how to do value-style investing.

It happens. But don't worry, the waves will subside in time.

Personally, I'd like the mark that I'll leave on this world to be more than just two dents in the seat of a chair.

How continuous is the trilogy's story in The Avernum Trilogy

If you're just playing the games to play them, you don't have to go in any order, since each game is totally independent of the others; and you can't use your save file from A3 (as an example) to play A1, A2, or A4.

However, for the best story continuity, you should play the games in order, since you'll have an easier time understanding how events unfold, and how some characters change from game to game.

I've played G1, G2, and G3 all the way through as a major canister fiend, and in G3, cheated to bring my canister usage total to different amounts to see a few different conversation options and game endings.

I can't repeat this experiment, since I've subsequently misplaced all such cheat codes for all three games. I haven't tried G4 yet.

In all my time on this forum, I've never so much as glanced at the CoC, and yet I'm still here. Maybe I should consider myself lucky.

Quicker? Under most circumstances, yes. But I just happened to be in a town and one gold short for a purchase when the coin's ability kicked in. I guess it was probably just luck (but not the character ability "luck").

True, but every little bit helps, especially if you're just one or two coins away from something you want to buy. This has happened to me on a few occasions.

Why do I have 6 mages? Because I can. And I can deal more damage, and do it more efficiently, by throwing spells in combat than hacking my way through.

By the way, all 6 of my mages are also trained as priests, so I can "cause epic chaos" (as Dikiyoba put it) that way as well. ;)

Actually, the invulnerability is to protect myself from all the Shockwave spells flying around. When you have 6 PCs who can cast it, and they're all on different spaces, that creates high potential for accidentally committing suicide each round of combat if you're not careful.

A pacifist adventurer? Why not? Though I agree, it does seem kind of silly.

I too believe that Avernum could use a few more spells. In Exile, the priest spell Wound was a great generic damage spell, as it worked against every kind of monster, even those that were immune to magic. Also, there was the mage spell Shockwave, which I particularly miss, as it was a great way to damage a large mass of enemies at once.

Most frustrating? Obviously, since you'd have a much harder time in combat.

Playable? Probably not; I only lasted about 5 minutes with 6 pacifists. Then again, I wasn't trying too hard...

Yes, you can still summon; however, walls and barriers are out of the question, as they are potentially damaging.

And I agree that it would be a nasty challenge indeed.

Of the trilogy, I found E3 first, E1 last. I also believe E1 to be the hardest, and E3 to be the easiest.

You need the Orb of Thralni from a cave in Waterfall Warren. You also need someone who can cast Dispel Barrier. And I highly recommend getting all six patches of purple mold for an old witch who lives nearby.
