I will forevermore picture you as George Costanza.

And what exactly does "Twix" have to do with that? I don't watch Seinfeld, so I may have missed something that every Seinfeld-watcher know about.

*grumbles* I should have said "Mars" after all.

with "once" I understand you killed him in that hall directly when entering the castle, no?

If so, then you should enter through the door at the left wall, proceed straight ahead, and you'll come into a small auditorium with a female vampire. Kill her, and proceed through the door to the south. Then, after killing the undead in that library, continue through the doors you encounter, killing all enemies you might come across. Finnaly you will get to a hall with water and enormous stairs. Go up the stairs and open the door.

Voila. There he is.

Be careful though, as he has some strange crystal which can hurt you badly.

Good, now you understand how people feel when you use the time of everyone reading a thread to ask a question that you could have answered yourself with a ten second web search.

As my teacher Dutch would have undoubtly said: Speak for yourself.

The mechanism began simply: taking standard text and corrupting it with a dynamic cipher, with only those privy to the cipher understanding what was being conveyed in the ciphertext. Through this, newcomers to a given community were excluded from communication with those who had defined (and continued to evolve) the cipher.[/b]

I don't know about that (the essay part, that is). However, something I would like to have is some guide to the 1337 speak, as I can't make any sense of it. I've tried time on time again, and I just don't get it. Why bother using digits that resamble letters, if you can use the letters!? It seems so beautifully stupid to me...

About the beer part: I just discovered 6 beer may be just a bit too much for my own good.

Tyran: that was not directed at you. Dintiradan should never have made that comment on "you should buy a Mac." That comment was meant as a joke, so lets leave it at that, and not start a war over it. that's all I wanted to say.

And thanks for the grammar. I never knew what to do with, and the dictionary didn't give a very clear description either.

I need to improve my plot... in Blades of Avernum

That's an interesting thought, though not one that I hadn't considered, although as yet I haven't thought of a reason for this. The demon is hardly going to use some backwater village as a base to raise an army of conquering undead is it?

Then there is the question of why the party is there in the first place; if there is seemingly no problem at the beginning, what are they there for? Is the 'just passing through' argument good enough?

Without giving away the entire plot, one question remains: Where does the essential demonic boss lair fit in to all of this?

The party could be there for several reasons:
1) passing through (probably most logical)
2) the mayor or some other high official raised alarm and asked for help => you were sent.

These are the "official" reasons which have been used time on time again. I'm for being creative. This is what I got out of a short brainstorming session:
1) you have family up there who got sick, and you had to get them some herbs to heal them
2) Maybe you wanted a short vacation and came across this small, nice village?

The the demonic boss question. You always get these sort of problems with mighty beings, alive or undead. It might be a better idea to consider a less powerful undead lord, like a spectre or a lich.

Dull? I think this is absolutely brilliant! If its dull for the more experienced players, then let them play bahsikava (I'll really never know how to spell that, would I) or some other scenario. However, I don't see this as an excuse not to make a scenario. I'm sure that for any experienced player the level 1 scenarios may be dull too. Does it stop them from playing them? No.

One more thing: Why should it be obvious that the mayor is the demon? This is entirely dependent on what you make of it. If you make it obvious, then it will be obvious. Place a pentagram in his quarters for example, and let the player think the mayor summoned the demon. Then send the party for some reason or an other to a cave, where the mayor sudenly appears and starts blaming you for all kinds of things, after which he turns into a demon.

You can make dozens and a dozen more scenarios, all with their own little twist, from this one idea. I personally think its a good one.

Beta call for "Where the rivers meet" in Blades of Avernum

Well, as its looking now, I don't dare to predict anything. Beta is going rather slow (I think, as I didn't get any report for some time now), and the next beta version of the scenario still misses a lot of grammar and spelling corrections.

I'm flattered by your interest in the scenario. I'm just curious why you said the following thing in that way:

quote:
I could help with testing if I had an ounce of free time. I don't, you know.
What I basically want to know, is if this has some deeper meaning which I should have noticed and didn't, or you are just saying you can't test. Its the "you know" part which interests me most.

forgive me this psycho-analyses sort of question, but I'm always curous about this kind of thing. Maybe I should become psychologist and not a biologist after all...

I dreamed I was at an orchestra rehersal in some hospital. Strangely enough though, the hospital building was only half hospital. The othert half was a church, and that was where our rehersal took place. We had some visitors from Hungary (a trombone and some violinists), and I got angry at the trombone player, as he was sitting and unpacking his trombone on my usual spot. I didn't say anything to him about it, as I wanted to remain polite.

When we finnaly could start the rehersal, the manager of the orchestra ran up to me and gave me a stack of music, saying she wanted me to give this to the one playing the drums, who was nowhere to be found. I started searching all over the hospital. On my way I came across a pregnant teacher of mine (who is also pregnant in real life), and eventually I ended up in one of the elevators, wher I found my friend Mark (Snafta). I gave him the music, and immediatly demanded it back, saying that I had forgot to give it to the drum player called Hendrik-Jaap.

The dream ended there. I have no idea why I gave that music to Mark, though. However, I do have a rough picture of what this dream was all about.
