I have already started making some scripts better anf more functional, and beta will hopefully continue in two or three weeks. By then I will be bored stiff and have enough time. Beta has progressed over probably a quarter. I don't want to predict any release date. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! I was trying to think of a script that had this, but couldn't remember one. Therefor I started from scratch. I will now certainly look at kelandon's script. Niemand: the party enters a number, and I assumed that with this specific call and this variable, I could store a number in that variable, returned by that specific call. I also checked the other lines repeatedly, but couldn't find anything. That's why I decided to ask about it here. EDIT: Okay, looked at kelandon's script, and I saw exactly that thing that I wanted to see if I can pass around it. Probably not *sighs* [ Friday, June 16, 2006 23:32: Message edited by: Mc 'mini' Thralni ] -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. However, I've run into a problem which I can't understand. The game gives the error: unmatched left parenthesis, at this line: amount_to_withdraw = get_text_response("") amount to withdraw being a vraiable which I defined as it should be.Could anybody help me please? -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. IC: Filbert followed the conversation with horror. His big blue eyes got bigger by the minutes, his brain, already dazed by anxiety, were filled with the ultimate horror he could think of: death. he thought, unwillingly, about his father, mother, family. the night that everything happened, so close, so close as if it all happened once again, albeit in another form. The walls: the warriors... The party: his father, nearing death... The rune: the burning house, not allowing him to go away. Fits of nausea slowly took hold of Filbert. The gallery became dark, cold, so cold. he started to lose his equilibrium, and eventually he fell. His swords made a clanging noise upon touching the ground. Everybody stared at him. "Fine! Stupid idiot, probably couldn't handle it. I bet he is possessed again by orloki, the weakling," Cain immediatly shouted. Lisha looked at Filbert, then at Cain. "Hmmm. I don't know, but something tells me its not Orloki. Anyway, any ideas one what to do with him now?" Now edith too joined into the conversation. "If the bastard haven't ruined my herbs, i could make a potion for him..." Meanwhile, Filbert lay still on the ground. Images appeared, disappeared, appeared once again, catching him in agrowing tension and anxiety. The form of his family slowly formed before his eyes. there it was. The item. In his slumber of chaos, Filbert tried to reach for it, but it was too far away. It was small, shining, like a hundred stars, the diamonds of Glathnor: the mighty warrior of the forgotten lands. His father had recieved it as a tribute. Filbert suddenly awoke, surprising everybody. he threw off his backpack, opened it (while everybody looked at it anxiously), but when he tried to grab something out of it, he felt the demonic breath of cain behind him, catching his arm in time, so Filbert couldn't take whatever it was in his backpack. "You fool! You miserable heap of demonic pulp that you are! You are of no use for us now, I think that is clear! Let me, who might offer some aid, be of help," Filbert cried. Cain looked at him, slightly bewildered. Pushed to do it by a growing rage, he threw Filbert away. Filbert smacked against the wall. What... is... the... fool... doing. i cna help... him! Filbert slowly stood up after a short black-out, but he saw he was too late. his backpack lay on the ground, the party looked at Cain, torn away from there previous fixation: how to get away from this place. Cain held a small artifact in his huge hands. it shined beautifully in the glow of his demonic eyes. It was a ring. Melora turned around, looking at Filbert. "How did you get the ring of Glathnor! The ring of well being!" Tuulentekija looked at the ring in a sudden confusion. "My father," Filbert answered, and slowly rectified his body. "It has the power to heal you, albeit it in a slow tempo, but it can heal you nonthless." OOC: I really hope I didn't draw too much attention to Filbert. If there are any problems, I'm prepared to rewrite. -------------------- My webpage in all its anti-glory. the only place where you could be able to download my scenario, if it weren't in beta yet. No, you don't know what you are getting in too. it took me half a year only to finish designing my own scenario (9 outdoor sections, 44 towns), and then it took me another few months to script and test. And I'm still not done! A year has past by now, and its not finished. Its getting there slowly, yes, but I can't imagine that you will continue with your project after you really realized what its magnitude is. it will end up dead, trust me. The only thing that kept me going, were the fact that almost no BoA scenarios were designed, and that I I didn't want to let the work that cost me already a few months of work, to die. Please, please, listen to what everybody is saying! It sounds asif your scenario will be almost three times as my scenario, and with your experience it will probably take you three years to complete, if not more. Think of it! is it worse the trouble? Besides, people of the BoA community will probably also not appreciate it that much. EDIT: I just realized that its not only these two things which kept me going. It was also th fact that I have a rather strong will with these things: If I start with something, I must finish it at all costs. Do realize that I had to work in my holidays every day on it, for a very long time every day. Don't let that happen to you. Dintiradan, you said you would stop with testing, no? I thought you would stop altogether, so I didn't include you in the mailing list. Anyway, it doens't have any use sending you that email now anyway. I sent all betatesters an email. if you are a betatester (I didn't include you, Tyranicus and Dintiradan) and didn't get the email, then please tell me so. telling me by email is best, as i don't look at the forums that often anymore. Looking at the Betatestingcenter forum is a must! I, for some reason, have the feeling almost nobody is looking at it.... Miya: read your report, by the way, just didn't have time to answer. TM: I am very curious to your report. OOC: You actually started it all up again!? Well, I helped start it, so I'd better help finish it. However, I'm extremely busy at the moment: its two weeks of exams from today on, so don't expect me to post that much. I also want to read at least paqe 22 a second time, just to remember what the hell happened. -------------------- My webpage in all its anti-glory. the only place where you could be able to download my scenario, if it weren't in beta yet. I know, I said I left, but I was curious as to see if somthing was said about any scenario, or perhaps asked about my own scenario. There was. My scenario is still in beta. Don't expect that beta will go very fast, as I can only work again on a newer beta version in three weeks. One can expect my scenario to be released in maybe one to 2 months. Hopwever, this is only a rough estimation, and, depending on what I still have to do (that's mainly school), may become an even longer period. I'm sorry to say it, but it will take a long time until my scenario will be really released. for the betatesters: I would appreciate it if you can complete the current version of the scenario and send me a report before the 6th of july. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Okay, I could have expected the "homo" and "fag" parts. And for some reason, I found it funny. Anyway, I'm stil leaving. I will probably be back if I have questions about designing or something like that. This out bursts of mine or due to a long series of small frustrations getting to a breaking point. This is the breaking point. I am quite sure though, that if we could meet (I don't say i wan to) person to person most people here would see who I really am. This is the internet, and what we see of eachother is only text. We see no face, now voice, just the procudt of several minutes typing. I can't really call that a basis for liking or disliking people, but in this surroundings, its the only way of telling. Now I'm going. Feel free to contact me if you please. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! quote:And as for my reaction to that, you can see this as one of the major reasons I'm leaving this community. I said that particualir thing as a kind of experiment, to see what the people's reactions would be. It was as always, which disappointed me: intelorant and touchy. Instead of asking "what's wrong, how can we help" and that sort of stuff, its immediatly "facepalm." I know the internet is a vicious place, but still. At least from you guys, who seem intelligent enough (at least the majority) to understand this, you would expect a least a bit support. I guess I was really terribly wrong. To clear up any wrong thoughts on that comment I just made, I don't specifically mean the comment made against me, but all these sort of comments directed at many people here. espacially the zer-tolerance scheme people seem to have here against newbs who don't really know how to behave here, is quite stunning, if you ask me. Its not only that, actually, its also the fact that when you ask people here what's wrong so you can change your attitude perhaps, all they tell you is "you are a bastard," and they expect you to learn from that. Now, I don't read minds, so teling me this is the must stupid, most irrelevant and idiotic thing to tell me. If you want to piss me off, than answer me this to a question which demands a totally different answer, like: "tell me exactly what is wrong, so I might change it." This community repeatedly failed to answer that question correctly. But for the rest, I'll just shut up. My opinion isn't really relevant for the thread, and nobody listens to it anyway, as multiple threads can confirm. Apart from that, I already know this post will also be greeted with a "facepalm," which I think Slartucker (obviously) introduced, although I might be mistaken. The occasional post denoting what is wrong about my grammar will probably also pop-up now and then. I also know people will now chat about this, calling me gay or somthing like that. It depends if Alec or Salmon participates, I guess. That depends. If the BoA engine is in every respect the same as the Avernum 1 engine, then flying over specials triggers the specials.
