OOC: Up and ready, FF.

IC:

Filbert looked at Tuulentekija with a slightly startled, maybe even surprised smile, when Tuulentekije handed him the book. He then shrugged the feelings off, and concentrated on the book. it wasn't anything really special, judging by the leather bounded around it. He turned to Tuulentekija, who was looking at him with a certain sparkle in his eyes. Reassured by that, Filbert looked at the book and opened it.

Nothing.

He kept staring at the page, and started reading. However, before who was finsished reading the name of the chapter, his mind was touched.

You are the teammate?

"Yeah, yes..."

Do not speak aloud, speak with your mind. Think what you want to say.

What, you... you mean like this?

Yes, that's perfect. now tell me about a pearl, a black object...

In the meantime Tuulentekija en Sequoia were witnessing him. Whispering, Tuulentekija commented: "I think its working!" Sequoia answered with a doubtfull look. They focused on Filbert again.

...so you say that the pearl is made of the ice? In his mind, Filbert frowned and stared at the book with a douvtfull, not understanding look.

Yes, that pearl, how unbelievable it may seem, is made of the ice. The black ice which swallowed this mountain centuries ago.

[ But how did it get into my fathers posession then? He didn't go to this damn mountain. Of course, he met people who did go there.

The voice suddenly stopped, and was silent for some time. When it returned it seemed a bit rushed, agitated maybe.

That ios a very worrying thing you just told me. it may prove that the ice isn't something related to orloki. I'm afarid that i then won't know where it does come from, which makes me feel threatened, as there is little I don't know.

Slightly disturbed, Filbert answered:

What? You mean you don't know what the ice is?

No, of course I know what it is, just not where it comes from. the pearl you have there posesses one of the better aspects of the ice. As its very powerfull, the original makers, whoever they are, made specific magical artifacts from it. Several were cursed, but some had beneficial effects, like this pearl. it heals people. It should heal a wounded body within five minutes.

Filbert frowned. That fast? With me it takes at least an hour.

The artifact is old. Its powers decay as it grows older.

Ah.

With that the conversation had ended. Filbert's attention was sudenly torn away from the book by a rumbling. Tuulentekija and Sequoia, who were looking at Filbert, now were standing in defensive positions. The rumbling stopped, however.

Filbert stood up and handed the book too Tuulentekija.

"well?"

"The ice... it may not be from here..."

OOC: Sorry for any typos, but I didn't have any time left anymore to check it. if I remember, I will do so tomorrow.

Time for another, most embarassing moments thread. in General

Okay, an embarassing moment I just had while playing a game.

I love flying. I have Flight Simulator 2004 for that, as I really can't afford a real plane (no, do you REALLY mean that!). So. A few friends came over. We started downloading all these new addon aircraft, and afterwards we tested them, to see if they worked. Now landing is something that vereybody likes to do, as its such a difficult thing to do correctly. I let my friends go first. Friend 1 tried to land, but crashed (and then I mean a really big, enormous crash). Friend two managed to get onto the ground, but as he stopped the plain, he couldn't take off anymore, as all systems had failed during touch-down.

Now it was my turn. I'm getting skilled in landing, as I have been doing it for some time now with some of the larger aircraft (Boeing, Airbus, you know). Now, what we were all trying to do, was land on a highway. To cut a long story short: damn lampposts. I, the one who was supposed to show how it should be done, made a smooth touch-down, and ran in to a lamppost, creating quite a big crash. I remember my friends laughing at me...

Oh well.

What is so difficult about the mirror puzzle anyway? i cracked it in ten minutes, and by fifteen minutes I was out again in the hallway, trying to kill those ghosts (now THAT was a more difficult part).

And no, I'm sorry, but I can't really remember what I did, except that I investigated all the rooms thoroughly before even thinking of pushing a mirror.

Well, in a certain sense it is possible, but people will probably abuse it in such a way, that you'd better leave it out.

I'll be on holiday from the 25th of Juli until around the 14th of August. I'll still participate in the testying, I'll just start abit later (that is, if you are done correcting the bugs until then).

You, more than most Thralni, should know that Ed was, and I say this in the greatest of respect, a "nutjob".

No, that's exactly the point. I couldn't know all that, for what i have seen of him was that he isn't more than a [censored] prat. I couldn't imagine him hijacking or something like that. Emails yes, unstable or dangerous!? Come on! He didn't come from a physciatric institution or something like that. Dangerous seems to me a rather unfair and idiotic exageration.

What makes him so dangerous then (Unstable he maybe is, but dangerous? meh)?

Power metal is fast-paced, upbeat metal. Heavy on the solos, oftentimes including two guitarists and/or a keyboardist to trade 'dueling' solos. Less focused on riffing than heavy metal, most power metal band's riffs are boring at best and cheesy at worst. Drums are an instrument that is payed great attention to, all the more necessary to bring the feeling of 'upbeatness'. Singing in power metal is where the most attention is spent, with fantasy-themed lyrics being most common.

I could keep going all day, but all one really needs to do to understand a genre of music is to listen to bands that play it. So here is a list of what i consider to be good power metal:
Avantasia, Blind Guardian, Dark Moor, DragonForce, Hammerfall, Kamelot, Luca Turilli, Nightwish, Nocturnal Rites, Rhapsody, Sonata Arctica, and Stratovarius.

I think you forgot probably the most important thing about power metal, and that is what makes it unique: it uses classical instruments (albeit most of the time playted by synthesizers and samplers). Now THAT is what makes power metal for me what it is: wonderful.

Now what i said earlier about the singing and the lyrics only applies to Rhapsody, as kamelot often does it better (certainly the singing).

magmadragoon: what i meant with the sound, is mostly how the instruments played. You know, the overall sound.

Infernal: what you said previously about finding an untrademarked name and forcing others too get rid of their names, is, well, fair. Its pathetic, maybe, that you want to reserve that name only for you (though that's more then understandable when you are a company that wants to make money), but you can turn it around, you see: Rhapsody was being quite stupid for not trademarking it themselves (which I really think they are. Stupid, that is).

Yeah, I agree with that. Its not the singing I like (I hate it, its horrible), its not the lyrics I like (half of it I can't understand proparlky anyway, and the half that I do understand just sounds rather stupid), but the sound is very good. I like it for being so melodical. If i want some music which isn't to heavy, like System of a down, Trivium or Chimaira, and I don't want something to nice and friendly, like general classical music, I listen to Rhapsody or Kamelot.

Avernum 1 or Avernum 3. I didn't really like Avernum, as I felt completely lost after coming back from the vahnatai lands (you'll find out what that is if you play the demo). Avernum 1 was a lot of running, but I enjoyed seeing how Avernum looked like, how the people are, that sort of thing. Avernum 3 I liked because I could beat up the vahnatai, which i now ultimately hate.

My reaction, in three words: What the hell.

I listen to Rhapsody, and I like the music very much. Rhapsody is a good name, Rhapsody of Fire is too long. That's the problem with the name.

For the rest i don't give a damn about the name, only about the music, which, generally, is good.

No, of course not. What I was trying to say is that the Israelis are no cold-blooded murders as everybody (or most of the people) seem to think.

Ugh. I'm getting sick of this thread, and I've only read one page of it. I'm very short tempered when it gets to discussions about Israel. That's mainly because the general opinion about the country is extremely bad, and trying to convince people of the opposite is so frutratingly hard.

Lets look at the real problem for once, shall we? I mean, until know, what I've read in this thread is this: "The Israeli people..." "... The Israeli people..." "....The Israeli people." Hey! Aren't we forgetting something here? WHO is the one saying that we should attack this or that village? the GOVERNMENT, not the civilian! Could we talk about the Israeli governemnt for once, and not the people (= government + civilians)? The civilians, as I know them, or one of the people which I like most. Even the Dutch are in my opinion worse, which is my bloody own nationality.

Its these things which irritate me to such an extent that I'm prepared to beat the one up who said it, and that's probably because me mother is from israel. In my opinion, these sort of comments are made purely and only because the Israelis seem to be so strong. Please people, and I ask this only favour of you, think of the history of the Jews. Once THEY were slaughtered and killed, that the total population of Jews got decreased dramatically. They know how it is to be wiped out! It doesn't seem to matter to people that dozens of people are being killed by suicide attacks in israel (but people do care about the same attacks in Iraq!), but a missile attack at which a house got burned is something outrages. in any case, that's the view I get from hearing what people say and watching the news. Tell me if I'm wrong (you will, I just know it).

Yeah, a LOT of cutting would have to be done. But just maybe I'd read the Avernums. I don't think they'd be great, but there'd be only one way to find out if they'd be good.

Well yes. I mean, nobody wants to read about people randomly wandering and killing. The story would have to be stripped down to the major plotlines and have some actual character development.

Who says they should be put in anyway. You could take all that away, but to keep up the tension put in some fights, just not that many. For example (following the example of Shard of Fire), take everything after the Aranea out, and concentrate on the main plotline. When exploring new terrutory however, let them encounter some monsters. Why is it that... leave it. I won't say that.

Oh well. i could have tried, couldn't I? It just seems that I have very different views on these things. So be it, then. I'm not really prepared to defend Ed any more than this, as I feel I will only hurt myself, actually.

And i disagree with Aran, by the way, also women can be particulary irritating, in the same way as Ed. I don't like to make any differences between genders when it comes to these things. It just depends on the individual, in my opinion.

Could you please stop the gossip on Ed? he is male, he is just using another msn account for some dark reason which I don't know or care about. fact is, that although he was acting stupidly in a environment (the boards) which is totally alien for him (and therefore I dont' really blaim him, for these boards require a certain amount of patience to fit in), nobody, also ed doesn't like it whn people gossip about him.

people, emagine this: YOU are Ed now, and you would see that people talk about YOU. How would you feel?

Now please stop it, okay? Just stop it.

By the way, i'm acting here because if moral beliefs. Not for any other reason. Gossip about people which you really hate, okay? Not aboout any random person which didn't fit intro the group. its pathetic.
