Hm... actually, now that I think of it, I do enjoy the soda produced by a local micro-brewery (Fitz's, for anyone interested). Still, it's more of a treat than an everyday thing... I remember in high school when I was drinking at least one bottle of Mountain Dew a day. Now, I'm just about completely decaffeinated. Oh, and I typically sub out Fresca or something similar for when I get drawn into drinking games. In that particular case, I find soda much healthier than the alternative. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. I only use the editors... that said, I don't think I ever used A4's codes, so I finished it without cheating. And honestly, the only reason I'll use the editors is if I'm hopelessly drained of HP and SP, and the nearest town is a significant haul away. I have also been known to load up parties in BoA with energy elixirs. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. Well, let's see here... it's not healthy, costs way too much, and actually doesn't make you any less thirsty than you were before drinking it. Rarely, almost never. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Alright, it's been a little while since I cracked open A4, but I can answer some of your questions. First, those incredibly difficult doors have really mediocre rewards behind them. Trust me, I opened them, and it wasn't worth it. For future reference though, the most powerful method for unlocking doors is to give your mage a lot of tool use skill, and just use Unlock Doors. As for skill points in general, there are several sages that sell or make knowledge brews (Craftmaster Shrine is one near the end, I believe). There are definitely a few merchants that sell herbs, but I can't remember any specific names. In the end, you find way more in dungeons and random corners of the 'outdoors'. And lastly, I can't remember exactly how first aid works. -------------------- Thuryl: "Runescape: for people who are too stupid to save their games." Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. To respond to the last two posts, I find the most effective technique is to spraycan some random terrain (like stalagmites into a surface town), with an easily-typed number. Then, just use the Change Terrain Randomly feature repeatedly. For example, when I've worked with custom trees (usually a block around the 430s), I'll spraypaint terrain 400 (a control panel) everywhere, then change it to the different trees bit by bit. (Like if there were 5 tree types, the first change would be 20%, then 25%, then 33%, then 50%, then 100%) The trick is getting the proportions right, and not accidentally typing the wrong terrain number... -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. If the insanity of the current spam-fest continues well past the release of G4, then the rankings should go away for a while. Otherwise, I don't think it's much to worry about. Honestly, though, I wouldn't mind seeing them disappear. What I would like to see, however, is the return of the all-time post rankings, which have only displayed an empty list for quite some time. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. As much as I dislike agreeing with Lego, well... I kind of do. There were enough seemingly-random monsters in A4 that I found myself wanting to know what their stories were... like the jewel-encrusted spiders and the ice demon near the Tower of Magi (not the one under Patrick's Tower). I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd like their stories. :P -------------------- Thuryl: "Runescape: for people who are too stupid to save their games." quote:Seconded. Honestly, every serious discussion that comes up devolves into a flame-fest so quickly that it almost isn't worth it to try anymore. Usually anyone who offers an opinion gets sniped (note: not meant to be an Alo reference, so don't try to pin that one on me) pretty damn quickly, and after a while that gets old. That, and as others have said, there are a ton of newbs around, which makes it hard to get much of anything done. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Nikki, you know very well what the EDF was. The only SW-er to erase every single one of his posts in a topic he'd created (except for Synergy, but he had more of a reason than EDF). I'm reading one of those annual sci-fi anthologies, at a snail's pace due to classes... Year's Best SF - 9. Niemand answered most of this, but: 1. Don't forget to check if the terrain is look-at-able, because if it happens to break for that one terrain, you need to put dummy terrain scripts on it to make it look-at-able. 3. Sadly, this problem persists in the newest beta. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion.
