It appears that Spamming Muffin has failed to understand something about Spidweb etiquette.
It appears that on some forums the topic starter "owns" that topic in some way, and believes that it is permissible to set rules for behaviour in that topic. The General forum does not act like that. Topics have their own lives, and the rules are those in the CoC.
As Imban says, a locked thread is one that that has already died, and has been decently interred.

Pretty much everything here seems to have a life of its own. Except for the spambots, I suppose.

Aran's locks always invested me with a sense of peace and serenity, as if their end was part of a natural cycle... Although, that's probably primarily a result of the sunset picture that accompanies it.

Edit: Changed "bans" to "locks". An odd typo (perhaps a Freudian Slip, but I can't think where it would come from), really.

I could ban all those noob-heads
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
If I were not an itty bitty small,
Yidle-diddle-didle-didle mod.

I'd make a big tall forum with threads by the dozen,
Right in the middle of the board.
A fine top banner with real wooden floors below.
There would be one long thread just for connections,
And one even longer for birthdays,
And one more for nothing at all, just for show...

Locks, not bans.

But that's exactly the reason I use the sunset picture. :)

I'm reasonably sure that's not a sunset picture, though.

'Disturbing' is probably a bit more accurate.

But anyway, I sort of see what Muffin is doing. In fact, I did almost exactly what he is doing, though maybe not quite as extreme (one locked topic to date, and it wasn't my fault). Basically, as a complete newbie, some feel the need to post many topics to feel like they have some sort of influence on the community. You get over it after a while, thankfully.

I tried to think of something witty to put here.

Needless to say, I failed.

Usually, anyway. Otherwise you get Canned, as has been said.

Speaking of spam, I tried SPAM recently. I fried it and made a sandwich. It was tasty for the first few bites, but it was so disgustingly fatty that I was sick by the time I finished the sandwich (Yes, I finished it, I'm stubborn about these things). Never eating it again, probably.

Although I do have to give credit where it's due: I like the way the can looks.
