Dahak: That's awesome. Photoshop's stained glass filter, I presume? Either way, thank you. I can mess with colors if I need to. So, anybody want to take a shot at organ pipes? Basically, the setup I'm going for is something like the chapel on my campus, with organ pipes on either side of the window. Ideally, the pipes should face east and west, since the window is going at the north end of the room. Here's a less-than-wonderful picture: -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Actually, it can be two wide. The space I'm putting it in is three wide, but I can split it up so it's just two wide and centered. Three high is right out, just due to how crowded this cathedral is getting. I guess sunset with clouds would be most awesome, but anything with clouds is good. Thanks! -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Actually, if it's possible, arched, 3-wide and 2-high, without the wall. As for shapes/themes/colors, I don't want to be picky, but anything even vaguely related to wind or skies is good. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. So, as the deadling for the 1/10 contest approaches, I'm finding that I need some graphics. Well, not so much need, but would appreciate incredibly, because I need to be able to distinguish my multi-level cathedral from the run-of-the-mill church/shrine. Specifically, I need graphics for organ pipes, and for a large stained-glass window along the lines of this: If anyone can suggest or make anything, I'd be eternally grateful. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Yeah, I can't believe I never posted in this. 10.0... for mostly the same reasons as Aran. BoA has basically infinite possibilities, and while some work has scraped the bottom of the barrel, a lot of what's out is excellent. Also, the next crop of scenarios looks to be excellent. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Yeah, the article makes a lot of sense, but like SoT said, the story makes the RPG. Thus, I've been fine with Avernum for the most part (and I still have no Geneforge experience to speak of). Granted, A4 pushed the boundaries of the very stuff that Jeff complained about, what with all the quests where you had to go and kill fifty chitrachs (*shudder*), some of which won't drop the chitrach claws you need. So now I can see a bit more of why he'd been getting so irritated while it was in production. Anyway, this is why people hated Nephilim Mystery. :P -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. I slightly object to my placement, as I feel I've earned at least pseudo-oldbie status, but meh. I don't really object enough to do anything about it. :P Personally, I feel like my BoA background inflates my opinions of the community history. I remember anxiously awaiting the release thereof, and I remember pretty much every scenario's release. And I honestly feel like at the very least, a new generation of designers is slowly emerging, thank god... (finally, we have a chance to shake off the BoE/BoA comparisons). But even outside of that, I can think of a few more old milestones, like MoS (aka: the only real memories I have of WM and Lt. Sullust) and the slow but steady rise of Geneforge. I mean, I wasn't around for the really classic stuff like the old RPs or the one v. all flamewars (I guess our current parallel would be Synergy), but meh. I guess what I'm getting at is that when I got here, General just looked frightening. I only started getting involved around the time that the fallout from the mod elections was starting to settle (back before mods were 'democratically' chosen), and when BoE was settling into its now-familiar dormant state. And after that, it felt like a lull, just a slew of annoying newbs and a web of oldbie in-jokes so thick that you actually couldn't tell when Alec (or anyone else for that matter) was kidding... but we helped rebuild the community, IMHO. Anyway, just my two cents on the issue. I've probably talked too much, and I'm not sure it made much sense, since I'm complaining a lot more than I'd thought I would. But then again, I honestly feel like a part of this community, so it kind of feels important-ish. (Still not sure if anyone would notice if I just disappeared, but that's teh internets for you) quote:This should be sigged. :D -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Well, I have a somewhat looser interpretation of oldbie, I guess. I wound up voting for most of the list, and I agree with Dintiradan about the circles idea (not about his inclusion in the innermost one, though :P ). So it appears I am not an oldbie, by popular decree. *sigh* -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. I see your point, but at the same time I'm willing to say that it's not so much magic and modern-day 'science'. I see it more as magic combined with herbal and mechanical lore. As for alchemy, in reality it's more of a pseudoscience, based on a set of flawed principles. In the game, it's really just botany and light chemistry, not necessarily knowing any of the 'why' behind it. Sages and alchemists just know what to do and how to do it, not specifically why it works. EDIT: I realized I wasn't being very clear about my point. I think that there is science of a sort, just not much technological advancement outside of magic. Cirion, that's an awesome picture. The landscape and bow really mix well. Most people here have seen my picture, but I haven't really taken any new ones lately. So, here's a woefully out of date picture, from back in August when I was leading freshmen through the wilderness: Since then, my hair has actually gotten longer, to the point where I'm just going all out so I can donate it. Yeah, I've got to go with Andraste's verdict here. Sometimes, in fact quite frequently, all you need to do is be there. Glad she's alright.
