Don't read too much into the analogy, people. This isn't a science. :P quote:You're just special and get a distinction of your own. :) We'll call it the Riibu Sub-generation [ Saturday, February 17, 2007 10:13: Message edited by: Archmage Alex ] -------------------- Take the Personality Test! Riibu, I'd put you in the very beginning of the third generation (whereas I'm at the very end). Obviously the distinction is somewhat arbitrary, but that's how I'd make it. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I'd like having my own subgeneration... Actually, it's just after all the times there've been topics like these and analyses and everything, I'm a little annoyed that none of the definitions never seem to apply quite directly to me. And I swear I was there when Misc. was still around. I just never actually, you know, went to see the topics. Or General either, for that matter. I was a scared little thing back then. :\ -------------------- "I'm not crazy!" "Well, whatever. Second generation. Tee hee. I need to stop reading these forums. I've been reading them much less frequently, and lately mostly just threads that really interest me, like this one. I like the community, but there's so much boring drek here and it can be addictive. Originally by Riibu: quote:Well, for many of us, that's probably accurate. There's a reason we don't have one concise definition of -bies and of "generations" and can easily put everyone where they belong: it's pretty much impossible, since everyone has different perceptions. Ephesos thinks he's an oldbie (or at least oldbish enough), but not everyone thinks so. I think I know who TM is, but Kelandon thinks I don't. As the definitions get more detailed, more people feel excluded. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

All right, fine. You're right and I'm wrong. My initial post on the subject was supposed to illustrate oddity (for that one particular example) of lumping me, having seen many (not most, mind you) of TM's posts, with even newer arrivals, who haven't seen many at all. But I suppose we all look equally ignorant from the other side of that generation gap. Now Dikiyoba is off to draw crayon artwork on the walls, throw tantrums in the store if Dikiyoba doesn't get candy, and have frequent nap times. Isn't it actually a Dutch word, Thralni? The German is Dreck, which is how the word is sometimes also spelled in English. Anyway, I believe it's just a loan word from either other language, originally used in English as a sort of genteel euphemism. -------------------- We're not doing cool. We're doing pretty. Online etymology sites all seem to flag it as coming to English from Yiddish, which makes sense. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |

Meh. Everyone here was a newbie at some point. Nothing wrong with being one now. I do wish I'd had the sense to join back when I started playing SW games, but I was just a stupid little high school freshman back then. I probably would have been a very annoying addition to the boards. [ Monday, February 19, 2007 00:19: Message edited by: Nemesis. ] -------------------- Do not provoke the turtles.
