Hey, there's no shame in that. I remember doing that for most of my first scenario, too.

Again, I look forward to the release of your scenario.

Do you mean in the scenario Undead Valley? If so, the only real way to do it is keep slogging through the fights until you end up cornering her. Or, just load up a god party and go to town.

Okay, so next... A hypothetical question that matches up with the theme of the topic. If you had unlimited resources and unlimited time, what careers/fields/hobbies would you pursue?

Upon, I kind of agree... but I think it's more worthwhile to have a sort of faith in both ourselves and others. One of the things about hardcore conservative Christianity and the like is that it seems to depend on faith in a being that we seemingly cannot relate to outside of the religion itself, and whose existence we cannot be sure of. Thus, I prefer to believe in people, since we can be fairly certain of their existence, and it seems a bit more productive.

(For the record, I acknowledge this sort of stuff, I just think it's not a very productive argument, though the brain in a vat concept is kind of funny.)

This is rather comforting, honestly. So yet again, it seems like religion as a concept falls into the category of "Seemed like a much better idea at the time."

You see, I see the point of that, but B) and C) just get me thinking "Why wouldn't an omniscient and omnipotent God just make people to fit those specifications from the get-go?"

If I'm wrong and there is a god or gods, I'm sure that their only real purpose for humanity is the entertainment value.

The majority of A4 is killing everything in sight, but the shades add a little bit of variety to this concept. You know they're there pretty early in the game, but if you even approach them before being fully prepared, you are struck down almost immediately.

In concept, they are cool. In execution, they are pretty good. But the first time you're smote by one... ouch.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was interacting with the medication, Other_Guy.

I see so many people who are hopelessly hooked on caffeine, and it really bothers me. It's just flat-out unhealthy, and it's unhealthy for them to set themselves up so they need it. Granted, it's the same thing with me and sleep deprivation, but meh.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up how I feel about it all. No self-respecting God would care about things like professional athletes' careers, or rappers getting awards... as SoT mentioned with the Job example, (s)he's got better things to do. In the end, I just hope that even if I end up being wrong about the whole God thing, (s)he isn't a complete tool... otherwise, I'm burning. :D

Shaper is a really good word, though. It beats everyone just being a run-of-the-mill mage or wizard. If the vahnatai had just been wizards and soldiers instead of Shapers, Keepers, and Blades, then I'm not sure I would've liked them as much.

Salmon, what was that addressing?

I agree with Zeviz here... and I think the problem is that you're not looking hard enough at the other side, Waylander. Heck, it's not even really a 'side'... you're looking at the constructs built around a core of what was for the most part a decent set of ideas (for exceptions, see Leviticus et. al.).

Actually, I'm kind of curious. Waylander, how do you define atheism?

Belief isn't a bad thing, and the ability to believe is a blessing. It's merely what people choose to believe in that matters.

And as for religion, I've always held that it's more about the ideas than the structure, and people forget that. I mean, I'm an atheist, but I see a lot of worthwhile ideas in most extant religions. It's when people start believing that it's more important to go to church than to actually believe in what you're worshipping that you get problems.

On that note, Happy Ash Wednesday, everyone! :D
