Does anybody know what was meant by the roving undead hordes' mention of a "word of safe passage"? I mean, what were you supposed to say? Granted, the undead weren't tough to someone with a few levels of Lightning Spray and Repel Spirit like myself, but I'm still curious... And also along the lines of that lich... was it a bad idea to pass on the quests for the priceless gem and the shroom talisman, like the unicorns advised? I mean, I only lost two days in the shrooms and Khoth accepted the scroll, so I never found out. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Wow, what are you guys talking about? I hardly ever saw a square of lava in that scenario... (except for the lairs of Khoth and that lich). -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Yes, that and Piercing Crystals are worth more than their weight in gold (considerably more, in fact). -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Posts: 4130 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

Well, if you're trying to make things interesting, here's some suggestions: 1. Try a singleton party. 2. Give your character(s) negative special traits. 3. Try doing it all without magic. 4. Try a group of four mages, or four priests, or four warriors, etc. 5. Go berserk and kill EVERYTHING in the valley (this is what my friends do). 6. Try to find every secret room, cave, tunnel, treasure, and person in the scenario. Beyond that, I've got nothing. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Perhaps you should try brewing up a new one. Or you might just be mistaking something else for a Balm of Life, like lemmy said. Wait, don't you need to use the Balm of Life before you cast Return Life? I can't remember, it's been a while since reviving a dead party member would have been easier than reloading. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Yeah, man... it's called Control Foes and Control Mind. And if you're having trouble with dumbfounding, bulk up on unshackling crystals and Unshackle Mind. Save Energy Elixirs for spellcasters hit with dumbfounding rays. I still hate those stupid Mung Demons from A2 & 3 for doing that, so I sympathize. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. No, it wasn't the labyrinths I found annoying (I like those). It was the running back and forth through the SAME mazes over and over again that I found annoying. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Wait... where's the second guardian? edit: Okay, I figured it out. Smash the crystals, THEN kill the key guardian. Okay, anyone else having problems with this bit? On the second floor, I can't get in through the central pair of doors (past the eye beast things). I've tried Unlock lvl 5, and it doesn't work. I killed the key guardian (cheap trick let him escape), and smashed all of the crystals, so now what? -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Yes, I found those shortcuts too, but still... it was a little annoying running around like my party was on skribbane. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Oay, I finished VoDT a day or two ago, and does anyone else share my opinion that the whole thing was a little too sprawling? I for one found it very annoying that after finally making it down that long tunnel to the control center building, and hitting the right buttons on the machinery, and killing packs of altered beasts, that you had to walk all the way back out... Wouldn't a portal back to the main cave under the school have been easier (and less annoying)? In my opinion, a lot of the quests in VoDT had this distinct feel: that they were too spread out, and that too much time was spent running between critical buildings. I felt that it really detracted from the plot, because running past the carcasses of the same Platebugs ten times is just annoying. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I believe you're supposed to go to the punishment cells, talk to a dying merchant (he dies... don't worry), then go through a secret passage to the sw. About the quickfire trap, if you have enough Arcane Lore, I think you'll get a reminder about how there's always a way to deactivate it nearby. (I played through this today, but my memory's sketchy) Sure enough, there's a secret door to a lever which neutralizes the quickfire. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice.
