Okay, I'm trying to use move_to_new_town at the end of a cutscene, and everything else in the particular state works. However, once it reaches... move_to_new_town(4,12,22); it stops working (i.e.: nothing happens). I'm using Mac OS X, with version 1.1.2 of BoA. Anybody know of a solution/workaround? -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. APEX Bioeducation I find their system disturbingly vague (just read it... it's creepy and it doesn't make much sense). Sounds like they designed it that way, because they never really say what they do or (most importantly) how they do it, aside from a reassuringly-vague generality. When the site talks about "contributing more substantially to the national agenda," I want to run from the room screaming... just get out of that school. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Whoa... that's unbelievable. And sickening. I wasn't trying to make fun of anyone's problems, just trying to start a humorous thread. I acknowledge that those bugs were unusual and frustrating, but they still seem kind of funny to me. (It'd be an interesting combat trick to turn the party's weapons into fruit, you've got to admit) There just seems to be some problem translating between Mac and Windows scenario writers... -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. After designing a scenario myself, I've noticed that some people have found incredibly bizarre bugs. Some are minor, some debilitating, and some are just plain funny. Examples of the last group: quote: quote: quote:The first two are from my scenario, the third's from A Large Rebellion. Anybody else seen any strange/funny/downright evil bugs? (I thought it'd be kind to remove names on the quotes) -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. quote:As funny as this bug is... what system are you running? That really shouldn't happen, because I didn't change anything that was already being used. What were the items that changed into fruit? Thank you everyone for giving me some feedback here. As you can probably guess, I was a bit rushed finishing this, and didn't get a very good chance to test the scenario. Still, it's good to see that it turned out fairly decent (again, sorry to Windows users), and I'll be certain to fix these little errors for future versions. Now I've got a slightly better idea of what to avoid with the next scenario that I'm making. Naturally, I'll avoid such a lousy ending (I really meant to avoid the "happily ever after" style ending, and I saw it forming as I wrote, and regretted it then), and I'll get a little more creative with the scripting. I'll keep the landscaping decent, keep interesting/humorous characters, keep writing cutscenes, and keep using the terrain's possibilities to the fullest. I'll try to avoid such an oddly-named villain as well. In defense of the dragon's name... I really didn't intend anything dirty. At least it gives the villain motivation... who wouldn't turn a little crazy after having people constantly giggle at the mere mention of your name? I think I'm really just glad that I beat the deadline for the contest... can't wait to see results in September. One last question: what'd everyone think of the writing? Except for the very end, of course, even I admit that was awful. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. OakLEAF... not that hard to remember. About the special items, though they don't show up, they should still work. I sent a fix into Spiderweb, so that should be up soon. If you want to fix it yourself, move the break in LOAD_SCEN_STATE (in the druidspt1.txt file) to after the special items. Again, thanks to Kelandon for catching that one. Good to see that people can still figure out what to do in the scenario, though... can't wait to make more of an effort (and a less-rushed one) on the sequel. EDIT: to spy.there, Oakleaf doesn't give you the artifacts, he just tells you to go get them. This sounds like an excellent idea... far too many ideas get thought up but never get scripted. I'd be happy to help, if there's any way I can. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Okay... so at least I know why the special items weren't quite working (thank you Kelandon on that one... not sure why I put a break there). I hope they accept the update, though I'm glad that it wasn't something bigger. About the dragon's name... you've got to be pretty dirty-minded to mix it up that much. Sorry about this scenario hating Windows... after all, I'm using a Mac. Just didn't anticipate the issues it would cause, and I just wanted it to get into the contest (AND it's my first scenario). EDIT: And about the general prettiness, I've got to thank the wonderful artists of the Louvre for that one. I only made the backwards & corner waterfall pieces, as well as the corner fence pieces. Hm... it can depend on which template you're using... it's cr_small_or_large_template (= 0 or 1). Try switching it from whatever you had it at. I had the same problem with some of my graphics. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Thank you for the help, everyone, but that wasn't quite what I had in mind... I just wanted a method for a party to go out via a set of stairs (like they would a portal) and end up in the outdoors automatically. In any case, I learned that it can't be done, and just modified my plot to fit that. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Okay, here's a problem. I can't get a party to leave a town using change_outdoor_location... the party's meant to leave a cave via a set of stairs which has the scripting: change_outdoor_location(1,1,37,23); All this does is move the town itself to that location, so the party has to head back out the entrance again. I want the party to get sent out of the town directly into the outdoors... and I can't find a way to do that. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead.
