MacAddict... a wonderful magazine, has a monthly shareware disc, and I found A2 on that. I was hooked instantly, and here I am designing for BoA after slashing through A2 & 3. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Hm... I just went through this kind of argument for at least a year, being an AP student regularly stuck in the same room with IBers. AP works just as well if you want a good education, as does IB. You just have to actually want it. I saw a lot of normally pleasant people become whining neurotics or fantastically annoying overachievers due to the IB program and its strange workload. Fortunately, some of the IB people in our school were still pleasantly human at the end of the year, but it looked like the whole thing took a heavy toll on their sanity. Funny little story... I actually beat out one of our school's IB diploma candidates in applying to Wash. U (the one in StL). I got accepted, she got waitlisted. So really, IB doesn't always give you an edge, it's just another approach to the same problem: finding an honors education system that works for the individual. Sure, some people find out too late that IB doesn't work for them, but that happens everywhere. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Well, as long as this topic has been revived (it seems completely appropriate to this forum anyway), I am also working on another scenario, which just happens to be a sequel to my first. Tentative title: Homecoming. JadeWolf, a word to the wise. It's very hard to write a sequel, particularly one that doesn't require you to have played through the prequel. I'm grappling with that little problem right now, and I'm having to rewrite multiple versions of cutscenes, just to make sure everyone can figure out what's going on, regardless of whether or not they played Druids of Krell. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Setting? Hm... this has definitely been debated (and is still far from settled), but I think that the best settings would be either deep in Vahnatai lands or deep in Empire territory (i.e.: the capital province). Basically, you need somewhere a little fresh (i.e.: not Valorim), unless you pay immense attention to the details of what's left in that area at the game's time (i.e.: Tower of Magi between A2 & 3). However, it can't be too far removed from the action, though the Vahnatai would likely make sure that everywhere on the surface is involved/attacked. Thus, for freshness and connection to the plot, it should either be the Empire's capital or the Vahnatai homelands. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I see that I've been left out of the lists as well... understandable, I suppose. I haven't said anything incredibly stupid or brilliant, haven't made any noteworthy contributions to much of anything (despite having finished a scenario of my own), and haven't insulted anyone. Yet somehow, I've got 5-star karma. On the other hand, sometimes it's good to be unknown. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Here's to finding a (semi)permanent name! I've always used this name, from my first game of A3 to registering here and the Lyceum. And it's the central character in my scenario. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. That 70's Show... mostly the older episodes. Family Guy is awesome, without a doubt. Of course, there are always slow episodes, but that happens with every show. American Dad won't last. It's a carbon-copy of Family Guy with (as previously mentioned) disturbingly-strong conservative undertones. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Hm... that's a good point. Might even have an impact on the deficit. And you'd get less strain on police everywhere, with fewer drug busts to carry out. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. ... has hit the Spidweb site! Now, Windows users can finish without hacking, the ending gets the treatment it deserved, and there's no stupid ruined town. If you'd all be so kind, please review it. (Lyceum and on Spidweb) At last, I can leave this behind and get working on the next one... -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Hm... let's see, it'll be interesting to see how the rest of the Empire responds to the treaty with Avernum. After all, you can't expect everyone to have abided by it, and Prazac probably put herself in a difficult political position by making the treaty. Other loose ends: -Rentar-Ihrno isn't actually gone, just sulking (and what about peaceful Vahnatai?). -The dragons spoke of a more intense revenge planned, and that was never really explained. -The skribbane problem must be spreading through Valorim. -There are still troglodytes and giants wandering around. -The ruins of the plagues still need to be cleaned up (i.e.: all of Footracer Province) -How did the rest of the Empire (outside of Valorim) react to this whole thing? -What about the exodus from Avernum? Who will stay behind, and how will they deal with the Vahnatai? I think Jeff has his work cut out for him story-wise, and I'd like to see any of those plot points cleaned up in A4. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Visiting the Sanctum too early shouldn't have been an issue... you can't get Kindaro's help before you talk with Oakleaf at the Sanctum. Actually, that might be it. Hm... wish I knew what the money bug was, but nothing in Fort Ouranil should do anything to your money (aside from shops). I don't think I can help you there. When you're distracting the dragon, that second line of fire isn't supposed to home in on you, just streak down the center of the platforms. Not a bug. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Okay, are you sure you completed every quest to the end? For instance, did you check back in with every person who gave you a quest? Also, how many cutscenes with him have you seen? For example, after you kill the lizards in the mines, you've got to go back and talk to the mayor of Relias. Also, once you kill the drake for the Orrin quest, you have to go back to the town. Otherwise, the SDF flags don't get incremented properly. If you've tried everything, go to the editor and use set SDF flag to change (100,2) to 5. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Note: Fixed the bug for Windows... can't believe I missed that, even when Smoked Salmon so kindly pointed out my error. Yep... tried it, and it didn't work unless I put it in the blue rectangle. In any case, the ending works better like that. Kharprev. Doesn't sound like much of anything. Just opened to K in the disctionary and modified something. Once I (try to) fix the bugs that keep appearing for Windows users, I should be able to release 2.0 of this scenario. And I've managed to avoid a few stupid things that I couldn't find alternatives to with the contest deadline on. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I picked it up almost as soon as it was released, so I probably just have the wrong version. The magic -> weaponry transition was great, but my singleton never got his spells back after he finished. Groan... good thing I wasn't ready to send it in yet. Note: Really didn't intend the similarity, it just leapt to mind as something close to the old name. Groan... I was afraid of that. The call was in a state reached from START_STATE in a town. This will mean another plot alteration... At least I'm finally fixing my scenario's ending. It'll be interesting to re-release it and see what people think of it... (and I finally fixed the dragon's name.
