My favorite... √(Onions) = shallots. I made it to 32 before my brain imploded. Oh, and it lies... the 7th letter of the alphabet is G, not H. Then again, it's my fault for taking the stupid thing. EDIT: Well. I'm stupid. "The alphabet"... :P [ Wednesday, March 07, 2007 13:35: Message edited by: Ephesos ] -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Excellent! Can't wait to see it! (That said, I probably won't have time to test, what with needing to finish writing Cathedral right now. But if you're in dire need of more testers, I'm in.) Okay... so, if you're playing A2, don't kill Rentar because it might screw up your game. If you're playing A3, just wait and odds are you'll get to her eventually. But basically, if you actually want to kill her, play A4. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Dear Readers (OoC): And with another grunt of dissatisfaction, this topic is dredged up from the depths of SW to be dealt with. So, given the fact that this RP is now over one and a half years old (yes, it is, check it yourself), we have to ask ourselves: Are we ever actually going to finish this thing? A few of us have seriously considered this question, and the consensus seems to be "probably not, at least not before one of us dies of old age". Thus, we have a proposal. If nobody else objects, we're just going to cap this whole thing off with a nice, long epilogue and call it finished. You've got a week to object (preferably in the form of an IC post). Otherwise, it's been fun, and hopefully we can get a new RP kicked off sometime in the near future. (And to those of you who've read this far and have no idea what's going on, read the whole RP. It's good stuff.) -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. That's always been something I don't quite get about the self-help industry... the people who are really far gone, who actually need the help, aren't going to sit down and read a four hundred page book about the power of positive thinking. They're the ones who are going to go to therapy for four years without having a breakthrough, or who will go to rehab and relapse ad nauseum, or who insist that they'll get out of credit card debt by applying for another card. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. ...wow. I feel nauseous after reading that. Another entry on the list of reasons I don't really like Oprah. Personally, I'm not averse to the whole idea of crafting, it just needs some refining. Preferably, no more swamp nodules and such ever again. -------------------- Thuryl: "Runescape: for people who are too stupid to save their games." Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. That actually sounds incredibly cool, and I look forward to seeing it. Would it involve a lot of set_strategy, set_aggression, and set_courage calls? Or, perhaps put more specifically, how complex do you intend this to get? -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. quote:Golem: No fun in it. Besides, you'd either be controlled by someone else or patently insane. Kobold, Goblin: Too weak and short-lived. Ogre, Trog: They're just hairy, stupid humans. That's the only real difference. And one likes stone spirals. Giants: Movement would be an issue... Giant PCs would be able to cross different terrain from the others. Oh, and they'd be pretty stupid as well. Gremlin: Too disorganized. Brigand: Not different enough. Empire Soldier: Too boring. I'm personally waiting for a good BoA scenario to work with this, though. Dragon: Overpowered, the issue of flight, lifespan length, the fact that there are only like six of them in the entire cave system... Efreet: Chaotic fire-beings from another plane? Seriously? I just can't see them being real team players. Gorgon: "Why won't anybody look at me?" ...besides, who ever uses Forcecage? EDIT: Forgot gorgons, which are just as ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that only about four of these could effectively communicate. Freewebs is indeed a menace. I do find the ads funny, though... "Squirrel Control Center", "Taco Bell Responds", "Knockout Transgenic Mice", and "Lab Animal Guillotines". Assumedly they all have something to do with the story... Anyway, I'm curious as to what's left to conclude. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. This article was definitely linked to before... this is the only one of those topics that wasn't locked, I believe. Anyway, I don't think Jeff really hates RPGs. If he did, he would've stopped making them... it's just the elements of the genre that he mentioned that he seems to hate. And he's not going to start making online games anytime soon... this has been discussed many, many times. If anything, they're worse than traditional RPGs in terms of "things that Jeff hates". That, of course, and they require servers, bandwidth, constant maintenance... -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. Let's not forget demons. They deal with a lot of demons. ...yeah, a vahnatai-focused series would definitely be fun. It'd just have to be completely different from any Avernum game yet made. Vahnatai magic seems to be very different from typical everybody-else-magic. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I don't think the U.S. will be doing anything else until Iraq/Iran is semi-resolved. Supporting democracy has to take a backseat to fighting terrorism. :P But yeah... the last thing Zimbabwe needs is a few more years of Mugabe. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I believe it's 6 Dexterity and 6 Defense, which does not include bonuses from equipment. Parry may be one of the most broken abilities in the game, given your PCs' ability to somehow parry arrows. -------------------- Thuryl: "Runescape: for people who are too stupid to save their games." No, A2 is pretty much the best of the three (even when you include A4, actually). If BoA had been included (as it should have been), I would've been hard-pressed to decide... but A2 would probably still win. EDIT: Oh, and about the vahnatai. They were still novel in A2 (for those of us who hadn't played Exile), and they actually added quite a bit of flavor to the game. Personally, they were a great deal of what hooked me on the series.
