I ran an agent type through the demo area without too much trouble. Then Jeff asked for more shaper types so I never got to see how powerful I could get.

Still a missle agent would be easy to run until you get near the end. Delicious Vlish's advice on how to run an agent works with a little shift in how you use spells and crystals.

I found a swarm of weak creations could be damaging if used properly.

The Hindenburg went up because the hydrogen was ignited in an oxygen rich environment.

Still I always thought that vlish used hot air to stay afloat. There's a tiny politician inside each one of them.

Avernums how many people do you prefer to use in each of the Avernum games? in The Avernum Trilogy

Avernum 1 limits your characters to level 40. So you can easily reach that point as a singleton before getting halfway through the game. Most parties with 4 never encounter that problem.

Some items are in containers with alarms. For those you need some tool use to remove the alarm.

Actually with Jeff still adjusting the characters up until release everything that we beta testers know is out of date every few days. Still all the 5 types have differing abilities to shape creations.

To clarify the new system once you attack you usually can't do anything else. The exception is when hasted where you can attack and still do something else like use a crystal or pod, and attack again. Crystals, pods, spores, and rods are much more useful in this game because they only use 3 APs, however if you have less then 3 APs you can't use them.

The new balance makes melee characters much better because they can usually attack each round instead of waiting a turn after moving up to the target.

melee in G4 in Geneforge 4: Rebellion

Melee is better in GF4 than the earlier games. That said it also applies to the monsters attacking you.

Which game to play? in General

In the early Avernum games you gain benefits from multiple blessings and protections.

Archery isn't that useful in the early part of the game. You should increase it before going on to chapter 2, but you can always wait. It's most useful for when you are in a corridor where only one character can melee attack or the opponents can't reach you for melee.

The nice part about Exile is near the middle of the game your mage gets shockwave. Two hasted mages can in 4 castings wipe out nearly everything on the map. In one round before you do any other attacks there are just neat piles of treasure to loot.

The GF4 version of agent is still overpowered, but some of the tricks need to be revised. You'll see when it comes out. I tested a variation of Delicious Vlsih's tactics with great success.

Figuring out movement and targeting in advanced still hasn't been fixed, but if Jeff starts now then the game will be delayed even more. The game is a little more forgiving of errors than it used to be. Still I lost a few turns with accidental clicks on my character or next to the monster instead of on the monster.

Clawbug on the shell. Definitely not kosher.

Magma Dragoon - the guardian type character looks interesting although I haven't tried it. Melee should be easier than in earlier games.

The net is chaotically stupid. Everything that can be posted eventually makes it on somewhere and its been dumbed down so any idiot can access it. Still by restricting access you restrict what content can be easily seen. Porn will flourish since they can afford to make sure there is easy access.

I just scan the new posts, reply, and leave. Maybe I'll watch TV if there is something that I don't particular care if I miss part of it. I record a lot of shows for later viewing when I can skip the commercials.

I got Firefly because it contained the unaired episodes from the original run. Mostly I have DVDs for shows that I liked and can't see elsewhere.

Actually a fun one is Himalayas with Michael Palin where he is talking with a famous poet in Nepal and the only song he had written was Im a Lumberjack that he could remember and then only part.

Still I bought some for the extras.

Surface bows were always better than cavewood bows. That's why the first thing you do when you encounter Empire archers is kill them for their weapon.

I think crossbows disappeared to simplify the weapon system.

Seeing the article about Jeff in About Jeff reminds me of playiing Eamon and having to map the world on paper. You kids have it easy with graphics and automapping. You don't even have to insert floppy disks and swap out game and data disks any more.

I can confirm that the change is not a confirm or undo command. While it gets rid of a common error that players make it can be a pain when you see what the monsters can now do with the change. It only takes a little while to figure out how to adapt and it does make playing much easier.

Still the new AP combat system works better than in the previous games. Also some spells and creations have been changed from the previous games, but that always happens in Spiderweb games.

Invisibility in General

It requires the same thing that is used to see "stealth" planes. It only works over a limit wavelength range so the object will still be visible to other wavelengths. Stealth planes are hard to detect for long range radar giving them time to close with a target before the close radar at a different wavelength sees them.

Lately the power of eminent domain has been used to remove established businesses and homes to replace them with some company that contributed big bucks to get the building site of its choice. There is nothing that stops governments from doing it for public good, but it shouldn't mean that the government gets to decide which business has a better right to the property. If a company wants the land it should have to pay for it and not force the owner to leave.

I liked Howard the Duck, but then I read the comic for years. As Lea Thompson said on Caroline in the City it is underrated.

If you want bad then try Sheena where the only good part was seeing Tanya Roberts without much on and a horrible plot.

There is also Red Sonja where even Arnold couldn't redeem it.

The Simpsons, Prison Break, Heroes, Studio 60, Veronica Mars, Lost, 30 Rock, 20 Good Years, My Name is Earl, The Office, Stargate 1, and Stargate Atlantis (unfortunately in syndicated reurns since I don't have cable).

On the cancelled list there was Happy Hour and Smith.

I won't say it's the best Spiderweb game, but it is the best of the Geneforge series. Unfortunately everytime Jeff tweaks the game it pushes back the release date.

Avernum 4 first aid works great in the Honecombs where you have a lot of short battles where you can even wind up with more spell points than when you started after using protection spells.

I usually had more first aid in the fighters since the spellcasters need every skill point for going up in spell abilities.

The only thing scary about the Dark Waters section of E2/A2 is all that treasure you have to leave behind because you run out of slots and exceed encumberance. Food is never a problem since you can find some further into the section. At worst there are always the mushrooms that make you sick.
