Net neutrality is a hot topic at the moment. What are the opions of this community on the subject? My personal view is that net neutrality must be upheld at all costs. Yep yep. I agree. It's only another way for the governments to control what we see. :Edit: I see the Net as more of a chaotic good. I think net neutrality will be maintained one way or another, and I approve of neutrality personally, but I can't say I completely see how having a tiered internet is horrible, evil (non-evil?), and disastrous. —Alorael, who does think it's an interesting case of government not understanding something and then choosing to regulate the wrong parts of it wrongly. Hah, what net neutrality. Web Fountain which is IBM's super search engine and data mining tool identifies 40% of the internet as pornography and a large percentage of it as business. It is about sex and money baby... This is not what the government wants you to see... They are trying to stop the gambling rings in the US, but they simply can't stop the spam and pornography. The massive size of that article makes me not want to read it. Does that make me a bad person? Evil maybe? Please? Does net neutrality have anything to do with the fact that UBB.Classic will not accept a reply that contains the following ? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

The net is chaotically stupid. Everything that can be posted eventually makes it on somewhere and its been dumbed down so any idiot can access it. Still by restricting access you restrict what content can be easily seen. Porn will flourish since they can afford to make sure there is easy access. The Net is True Neutral. It goes both ways (hence all the porn and consumerism). -------------------- Nobody appreciates me. It's all "Igor! Fetch some wine!" "Igor! Non-good and non-evil I can see, but anyone who can't see the internet as chaos incarnate is doesn't understand either chaos or the internet. —Alorael, who admits that the internet isn't anything incarnate because there's no carn in it. But it's chaos made manifeste! No, it's not manifest either. Okay, it's quintessentially chaotic. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

... I don't get it. Once you boil it down, the 'Net is just a network of networks. Saying the 'Net is evil (or good) is like saying speech is evil.
