I hope Aran 2.0 gets the monthly numbers out soon. Without them how can we tell how effective the posting games are. Geneforge philosophy threads are wearing out. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Delicious Vlsih's advice is still good that the best way to deal with your enemies is daze (or strong daze later on in the game). This is the single best spell for dealing with most problems. When it doesn't work then you need to use a stronger arguement to permanently remove them. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Another good choice is Nethergate. It's similar to the Avernum series with a different magic system and you can play the game from different viewpoints (Romans or Celts). If you can wait a few more weeks then Geneforge 4 will be out and that looks like it will be the best of that series. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

There should be a new one in a few weeks. The announcement of Geneforge 4 will be coming when it finishes beta testing. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

It might be something where the link that call for the text was deleted or altered but the text was left in during a script revision. Still I never saw it playing either game and I was pretty thorough about going and talking to people. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

From the restroom graffiti in the physics building: Drugs are for those people who can't handle reality. Physics is for those people who can't handle drugs. Still going back to first principles to use as a starting point for a problem is hard even at graduate level. There is a lot where you are taught to do things because someone else proved that this step has already been rigorously solve and not to waste time rederiving the result. I did have one professor give an example where one of these derivations did have a minor error that had been propagated through out several textbooks in electromagnetic scattering. In GF3 Dhonal's Island in the Lair of the Creator you have to chose between repairing or not the creator. This is the last chance where both Alwan and Greta stay with you. When you leave the island you will lose one. GF4 gives Jeff's view on which ending is the continuation of the Geneforge Trilogy. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

There was a similar problem in France a few years ago before the Danish cartoon incident. A town was putting on a Moliere comedy where Islam was being used to parody a similar idea in Christianity that couldn't be addressed directly. The Muslim population tried to block the play and failed. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Regarding #1 airplane lift from just Brownian motion. This isn't a complete explanation, but the shape of the wing causes random collisions to impart their motion into the wing. If you breakdown the momentum transfer into horizontal and vertical components then those collisions on the underside mostly transfer their momentum in the vertical direction providing lift. The collisions on the upper surface because of the shape only transfer part of their momentum in the vertical direction and the bulk is in the horizontal. The difference in curvature between the front and rear parts of the top surface can partailly account for drag. Note this explanation breaks down for supersonic plane wings which have a significantly different shape. The difference in air pressure between the upper and lower surfaces will effect the number of collisions. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

When you are short of essence it sometimes pays to use less intelligent creations. Usually you would rather control them since you can pick the targets they attack. However sometimes it doesn't matter. In GF2 I used a AI controlled creation early in the game and only added intelligence later to control it after the first 8 areas. The geneforge is set to do the same thing to each individual that uses it. Consider it to be multiple canisters all working at once. In GF1 you don't get to choose what will happen since it was preset by Danette. The Drakon geneforge is set to give them their desired results. Exile thrown weapons use less action points than bows so in haste you get an extra shot off each round. Still bows are easier to use with the greater variety of arrows. [ Friday, October 06, 2006 21:34: Message edited by: Randomizer ] Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Run while you can. I've just had too many friends find out too late that they missed something that would have changed their mind if they had known. Mountians of debt, wanting to move next to mom (hers), want to date other people after the marriage, she's just not interested in him, etc. Still congratulations if none of the above apply. There is also help that you can get from the gremlin about the secret passage and was it Asp or Scab in the arena audience on getting past the traps. I waited for the big fight when sent by the mayor of Almaria. It was tedious. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

There are two groups in the overgrown road. The shaper forces are at the south end connecting to Dhonal's west dock. In the center is a rebel force that will attack you. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

If you are Jewish, the according to Jewish law you are a Jew until you formally convert to another religion. Even if you are excommunicated (which rarely happens anymore) you are still Jewish. That's why Spinoza still could come for Yom Kippur services. You get bored during services and you start reading footnotes and other material. No. You can kill them in any order and not report them until you want to do so. The first time I played, I though that you had to get them all to collect the quest reward so I waited and got less experience. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Nioca - go ahead if you want, it's a slight parody of a Jewish prayer from the High Holiday services. The first line is part of a long list of possible fates for the coming year that God decides upon between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

If you wait a really long time dumbfounding goes away. The easiest ways to remove it are a healer or a restoration potion. I had that happen to me before I found out about the potions and had to fight my way out and rest for a few game days in different places. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |
