At a party after a dissertation defense, the professors were debating with word processors whether the writer ever read the junk he was writing. Random clumps of letters can be produced with no sembelance of order. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Before you take the boat over the first waterfall, be sure you did all the quests and killed everything that you can. There is no place to train for a long time. The hardest part is deciding what to keep since some of the items you will find are junk (cursed). Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I think there is a cheat code that also returns the party to start, but I don't remember since I never used them. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Stun resistance is based in part on endurance if I remember correctly. Most fighters have enough to reduce the problem and they also wear armor that reduces it. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Last season The Simpsons had an episode showing the absurb lengths that Ned Flanders went to in order to protect his children. Bubble wrapping the trees was funny to watch, but children shouldn't have to be that protected. It's a matter of properly instructing children and supervising them to insure that they don't suffer major damage. After all I've known kids that have broken a leg falling off a curb crossing a street. Should we cushion the roads to protect them? Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Haven't you ever see the corollary to Gresham's Law: Bad postings (spam) drive out good content. If we really had something to say then posting would drop to almost zero except for the game forums. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

I guess the only appropriate response is In before lock. Question - Will this be a full IP block ban or are we going to waste time with more of these? Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Humans are naturally lazy. Since it requires less energy to do "evil" than to do "good" most people tend to do what is generally considered evil. Case in point TM who could edit his thoughts, but prefers to use his energy to find ways around the autocensor. Maybe that's not a good example since he is expending unnecessary energy. 4) Get Arcane Lore first since it allows you to read spell books. Nature Lore lets you avoid some nuisance monster fights and unearth caches. Arcane Lore gives you the arcane lore needed to read spell books in the later part of this thread. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Jeff looked at the early beta reports about the expert area at the end (think GF1's Shapers Crypt) and a few other areas and decided we were having too easy a time. Just create a few vorpal bunnies and you'll do fine. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

A2 requires retreating to the Fort to rest in the beginning. The Nephil fort takes several trips. Also you might as well take advantage of those trips to haul items back to sell off since you will easily exceed carrying capacity. There are several places that require more fighting at the start than in A1. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

There is a difference between bullying and playing games where injuries can occur. Too much coddling results in people that are unprepared for the real world. There are complaints that the current generation leaving college want great rewards for little work. They've had it easy and are suprised that they can no longer get it. Bullying needs to be stopped, otherwise you get people like George Bush in office that thinks he can bully everyone into following his orders. He did it to Congress and he tried it in Iraq. The example about oil refineries is great. There is an need for more capacity to avert shortages. But the refiners don't need to build new facilities because during shortages they get to raise prices and new capcity would prevent that. They don't want competition so they are consolidating existing facilities and incrementally boosting capacity with what they have. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Avernum 4 is the first game that doesn't give you stacking benefits. I think you might get longer duration, but I doubt it's worth it. There are plenty of potions available if you are worried about APs being used to get all the buffing spells cast. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

For the Orb, you find its resting place that it was stolen from in the south part of the Castle. One of the mages in the entrance courtyard is looking through maps to figure out where it has been taken. I don't remember who in Fort Remote mentions the theives flying past them. I'm glad I grew up before this happened. Almost everything that got or is getting banned was fun back then. I managed to survive getting hit in the head by almost every type of ball and a few baseball bats. I seem to have a thick skull since I still graduated college with a PhD in physics in spite of all the damage. If children don't have physical activity then they grow up to be couch potatoes playing computer game versions of the real games and eventually spend all their time chatting on boards and playing games like we do. You and your character where you ask that rebel leader in Chapter 4 when you get that dialog option. Go ahead knock your self out. In the last chapter I started using them to save money and get all the ones in the expert area that's the equivalent of GF1's Shapers crypt. By that point I no longered cared about canister madness. The first time that I never got to finish I used everyone I could get. So I had to kill some worms. Big deal they were only worms. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Don't get your hopes up about Geneforge 4. I didn't like any of the endings that I saw. It sets up Geneforge 5 - The Quagmire I will say the Shapers are a little, very little, bit more reasonable than GF3. The Rebels are more reasonable since they've had some victories. Trickle down fails because there is no incentive to increase the salaries of the lower classes. The rich keep more and the poor struggle to get by since they don't have that much to tax in the first place. Companies are quite content to pay as little as possible. If there wasn't a minimum wage some jobs would pay even less. The University of Arizona lost a case where they paid student workers 3/4 of the minimum wage arguing that it allowed them to employ more students than they would be able to paying full salaries. Years later they were forced by the Arizona legistlature to pay the full cost of living adjustment (COLA) each year to student workers instead of keeping half to be given as increased salary to the rich administrators and professors that they deemed as worthy to receive it. Heck if companies could they would hardly pay anything during recessions where they can always find some one desparate enough to take a low salary and work multiple jobs. Trickle down only works in an idealized academic model and not the real world where greed still works as a motivating force. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Besides you don't want to anger Dikiyoba when she's going to use you in her writings. You definitely won't like the results. Go back and read the earlier episodes to see what happened to some people. Commander Eddie got off lightly. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

This thread is an excellent way to spam, especially since Dintiradan needs more spam for his plan to suceed. Although it would be funny if the plan fails due to a chorus of Vikings extolling spam as they eat it. Dikiyoba we need something to do between chapters and griping about non-appearances is so easy.
