Another idea would be a Nethergate style game where you could start as one of the three Shaper types (shaper, guardian, or agent) or as a Rebel (warrior, infiltrator, servile, lifecrafter, or shock trooper) and have differing but intersecting missions. I did start with the pacifist game where my character refused to kill anything himself or take the kill dialog option. I got through about 20 areas of the 81 before I had to test something else. You get a lot of money selling off almost every weapon and crystal. I will try it again sometime. I think I want something better than a fyora to assist me. Since Geneforge 4 is about to be released we might as well start with what we want in the next installment. Beta testers have an unfair advantage since we already know what has been changed since Geneforge 3. 1) Male and female versions of the characters, please. I know this has been a complaint since Geneforge 1. 2) More slots to carry items in the backpack. You'll understand when you see how many items you'll carry around now that items in the backpack don't count towards encumberance. 3) A tougher expert dungeon for the end of the game. This one is hard, but doable if you are prepared. I need to see if Jeff fixed the glitch that lets you repeat the fight with the boss monster to get its dropped loot more than once (return of the infinite Chesh bug from Geneforge 1 with better treasure). Rats. Too bad TM is with them to flame his way out of the trap. Actually that might be a way out of Shadowvale. Of course then there would be a flood and ruin all the carpeting. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

You need to watch some SCTV for good Canadian insults. Now that the thread's purpose is over and threats have been implied, where shall this topic wander? Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

When I started as a graduate student teaching assistant the instructions were basically - here's the book, here's the syllabus, you took the class once, so go teach. It got a little better a few years later when the professor in charge of the lecture part of the lab course I taught actually discussed what he wanted taught. I've had a range where I liked the subject inspite of the teacher to I like the subject because the teacher made it interesting. The worst I ever heard about was in the education department where the professor played a tape of him reading the text book and rewinding to replay the important parts. I worked hard to get out of 17th place and I'm not going to relinquish my spot in the top 10 without a posting fight. Keyboards at 20 paces. Besides I'm on track to move towards 8th place with my most prolific month. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Don't you know that fluffy turtles can attack. The bite is more of a gumming attack, but they clamp on and don't let go until they get all of your sanity. You still have about a week to get a Mac. There are probably some used old Mac minis out there that you could use with your Windows equipment for not too much. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

It's not how you die so much as the mess you leave behind for others. No neat little pile of treasure to be looted. Good luck getting the committee together since you will also have to agree upon the agenda. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Actually my observation about teaching was from a professor doing the interviewing for a new hire. I've had a few that can't teach or at least outside their area of interest. I was always glad when I missed having them. I heard of a Nobel prize laureate whose two best lectures for the year occurred on the days that the view graph machine was broken and he refused to touch a piece of chalk. He was actually understandable when he couldn't resort to pages of equations. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

quote:I haven't heard that since 80286 took over. I finally realized how slow the 8086 and 8088 were using a spell checker. I'm waiting to see how Aran's new posting bot works out. It takes previous posts and creates replies using a randomly chosen group of phrases taken from all our previous posts. This way he can keep up without having to do all the work. Wish for Geneforge 5 is that Jeff finally has time for male and female versions of each character class. Still the new character graphics are better than the older ones. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Nice new screen shots from the middle of the game. Jeff is still revising the last part of the game so he'll be rushing to add the new graphics and any other changes. It seems to be shaping up to be the best Geneforge. One nice change is that the options you get with both sides depends upon how much you actually help them and not having to choose between dialog options. You still need to make the right dialog choice to get to the option, but now you don't have to pick opinions that you don't believe in anymore. quote:Too bad that's seldom what happens. Most candidates are only capable of getting elected. That's why most resolutions are for honoring local groups and most laws are for special interests. In order to get reelected the politician tries to get the most money for his district and supporters. It's like when they hire a new college professor. In the interview process the question of whether you can teach is never asked. It's what is your area of interest and what kind of funding can you bring in to the department. Besides Jeff may add some of it before release just to make it true. I've found from seeing the same questions repeated in Avernum 4 that most gamers don't read old threads. I'll join the list of never played a MMORPG, so that makes 5. I did play the MUD game Avatar on the PLATO system back in the late 1980's. But it was free and somewhat addictive. I saw that there is a pay version on the internet, but I'm not paying a monthly fee to hack the same types of monsters over and over again to make maybe a level or two a night. I thought the D&D MMORPG would be better until I read from a reviewer how hard it was to find a group to run quests and that you could only run by yourself for the introduction dungeon. I have to agree with a reporter (who got banned from press conferences) that having J. D. Hayworth in Congress means I don't have to listen to him 5 nights a week as a sportscaster. Hopefully he will finally deflate and be silent. It'll be funny if the Democrats balance the budget by retroactively cutting most of the Republican pork that hasn't been spent in the last few years. So much for the Alaskan bridge to nowhere. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Bush has so over extended the US military that the only option left is to bomb a new enemy to rubble. The air force and navy are the only forces that are not tied up in the Iraqi quagmire. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Actually I think your posts in the hidden forums count and you can use it to hide the multiple consecutive posting from the rest of us. I'd do it but it seems too much like work and I'm sure I'd get banned. Next month I'll have a better chance to make the top 3. I started out too late to do better than the top 8.
