When I first started playing GF, I noticed the "splashing" death and thought "My guts just spilled on the ground. Cool." Then I realized that it was all my items falling to the ground, ownerless. Not quite as cool, but still my preferred way to die, compared to the "flashing grunt."

I guess it all depends on exactly when the shutter clicks.

We had something like this before, though admittedly it was a while ago.

Last time, this was directed primarily at real-life death and as an afterthought at PC death.

Since I didn't post in the other topic 3 1/2 years ago, and it's been some time since I played, here's what I think about RL death.

Also since I realized only after the fact that this was in the GF forum, not in General. :P

------
At the risk of sounding cheesy I'd have to say that my favorite kind of death would be in some act of heroism. Selfish reasons, really. It should ensure I a) feel tremendously good about myself just before it ends, b) I will be remembered as a kind of larger-than-life altruist super-hero, and c) if there does turn out to be an afterlife based on moral behavior, I could score a few last-minute points that make up for all the liberalism and the wanking.

Er.

Failing that, I'd like something that I can see some time away, giving me time to sort through my stuff and also the opportunity to enjoy every remaining second of my life more consciously than ever before.

Worst way I could imagine is a sudden, unexpected death that would leave all my cluttered affairs, unfinished projects, unfulfilled dreams behind.

And that's my portion of gruesome for today.

Death itself is not gruesome. It's the cause of death that can destroy appetites.

Why don't you start a topic on death in General so that we can have a lively debate?

There is no ownership amongst topics.

You start it. :P

The next thing you know, we'll be forming an exploratory committee to research the approaches towards selecting the most suitable venue for appointing the designated official, or at least authorized, topic starter with the limited privileges of opening up the discussion of the topic in question in the venue agreed upon in prior deliberations. :P

Be careful with a word, as you would with a sword,
For it too has the power to kill.
However well placed word, unlike a well placed sword,
Can also have the power to heal.

Could we at least arrange a time or a place of the exploratory committee (drawn up of representative duly elected members of both the community at large and district representatives, as well as community ex patria) meetings so that the damn notice can get approved by the memorandum committee for disbursement to our various printing outsourcers for proposals?

On that note, has anyone seen the RFP guidelines? I know they were/are/will be in the RW library at some point. I'm just not sure when.

Edit - It was a tense time.

I think my favorite way for Salmon to die would be dumping him in the middle of the Sahara Desert and watch as his eyes slowly dry out of their sockets, all the while treating myself to sushi and fresh water.

It's not how you die so much as the mess you leave behind for others. No neat little pile of treasure to be looted.

Good luck getting the committee together since you will also have to agree upon the agenda.

Unless you die attempting to save someone from a burning building, in which case you'll just feel as if you're on fire.

Dikiyoba's favorite way to die in the games is when you make your fyora attack your character right after they used the Geneforge, because it makes no sense whatsoever.

Is it just me or didn't Exile have far more violent sound effects? I seem to remember when your entire party died in Exile III, it makes a sound as if you were all being ripped apart by monsters. That was my favorite way to die.

In Geneforge? Misusing a geneforge is the best way to die, of course. What can I say, I like excessive violence. It's the American way.

Speaking of the grue, zork 1 and zork 2 can be found here with all the rest of the junk I upload to the cloud. Windows only, although a wiki hunt will land you in Macompatible lands.

As for the other question, my party is likely to die because I don't pay close attention to their health. Me? Senselessly and dramatically. Likely from falling or drowning, is isn't drowning just slow motion falling? Without screams?

Naturally, but why Canada? Why not some other country that's actually committed a major crime against us?
