Aran's list will always have a top ten. Who would you rather see on it? Me, or you? I'm not bothered, overly, that I have contributed to a revitalization of the forums, so I'm okay with being on that list. Hopefully the renewed interest in the forums will continue, as they are a great place to meet other folks that enjoy playing Jeff's games and the other games within that genre.

I'm not sure enough people could keep it up to make it happen. Last game release was acocmpanied by between 100 and 120 new members, of who about half became active. There were also over 200 older members that were active, including 180 of them being active before the Mac-release.
Somehow there are only half that number now. I'm not saying high postage won't happen, but dam, it will be difficult.

My informants have told me that Gov Pataki of New York and Mitt Romney (Gov Mass, SLC Olympics guy) are also in the hunt. Apparently some fools believe that all it takes to be President is those three things in the Constitution, plus a cover of Newsweek.

I'm kind of embarassed to admit this, but there is really no way to get around it. I really, really wanted to spur the boards to an all-time high in posting activity. I wanted to harken back to the old days with spirited debates and opinion tosses. I'm just not able to do it though. I tried to create an alter ego that would serve as riposte to my thrust, but it was too difficult to move beyond a single dimensioned character. I'll keep it up for a while, but wanted to admit that I am, in fact, Emperor Tullegolar.

Your scenario data file is the place to reference new creatures, floors, items, and terrains. It would be named somethingdata.txt, where 'something' is the name of the scenario (which you named when creating it).

Make sure to use unused numbers for the objects you put in the data file, or be sure of the consequences. Like Nioca said, reading the docs, especially those on Kelandon's Pink and Pretty Page, is a great way to start. After that, play around with an existing scenario to see how it is constructed. Good luck, and keep asking questions.

This is likely Jeff's latest method of combatting those idiots that decide it's easier to search the int3rn3t fer dose hackncrack outfits. I'd rather give him $25 or $30 than steal, knowing that if I got incredibly bored with the whole thing when I was 75% done I could just cheapskate it and get my money back.

Or this is just to encourage those borderline gamers to buy, since Jeff's Grand Cayman fund is a little low this year. Those MMPORG's must be costing him a fortune! :P

At least for a year. I've no idea what changed on the policy page in question, but this was the first time I noticed that Jeff had a one year satisfaction completely guaranteed refund policy. I'm not sure it's unprecedented in the software arena, but it's got to be close. Two huzzahs for software satisfaction guarantees.
