If you're coming home for Thanksgiving, service interruptions will be normal. Our next scheduled windstorm is Wednesday, with normal rain for the next 10 days. I'll consider the next chapter due by the first of the month. ;) Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

We need a special emoticon to signify blatantly false statements that could actually sound somewhat true. I'm thinking that :P would be a good one, but perhaps if it was coupled with the post signifier it would be a tell-tale. More simple of course would be to distrust anything I say. There are a few times that could be disasterous, but on the whole it is likely a safe bet. :P Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

Just finished both House, by Tracy Kidder, and Olympiad by Tom Holt. Both were arduous, but enjoyable, and ultimately satisfying reads. Next is Witch by Gregory MaGuire. I would not recommend it solely due to the R rating it assumes. Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

quote:Gee, thanks. I'll get to that as soon as there are enough funny captions to make it worth my while. Oh, and it frustrates me to no end when I think of a good caption well after the deadline has come and gone. So, without further ado, the caption for this picture. The sign is clear, Richard White was here. Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

quote::rolleyes: Don't be so hasty. PG is an excellent adaptation of Wizardry, and I'm sure Slack had a good time tricking out BoA to accomplish it. PG was not meant to be a great stand-alone scenario, which is how I think some people are perceiving it. Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

Legends of the Fall or Legends in our own minds? Thanks for the info Zeviz, it is somewhat humbling to think I've broken the spam barrier. It's difficult to imagine being able to post more than Alo, as he is a prolific poster. But never ever has he been a drity, drity spammer. He's got the delete button. :P Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

If Vogel had ever bothered to think that so many would waste so much time on something so small, he may have made it plausible. Instead he made a good quick story with few ingredients and a lot of room for user imagination. All the talk of VC and what have you is simply interpretation, and argument over viability thereof. Especially when the goo is the pregenitor of all life, and incubates all forms, releasing each type based on goo type, habitat, and temperature. Quite simple, really. Edit- Actually, Vogel likely made it just this way so that he could laugh all the way to the bank as generations of retro-gamers try to argue new theories on the origin of the species. I feel for Diki. What a sucky day of posting her topic has had to endure. I'll go read her latest chapter now, it sounds like a good one. Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

They should switch software, jettison all threads to the PPP, make members sign up anew rather than transfer them, and then not leave a sign on the door. Leaving the old system up and running/limping, would be a cruel, but characteristic, joke for the Vogel man to play on the unwitting. :P Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

You must go hungry for a day, or two, as a fairly energetic wind storm blows past me. Oregon has had a bit of a rough go the past week, and since the power is back on for a moment I thought I would mention it. I overheard an observation today that goes something like, "back east they name anything with winds over 30 mph. Out in Oregon we just lump it all together and call it November." It's true, too. Look here for details. Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

The ease with which 500 posts can happen certainly does lessen the value irrespective of the value of each individual post. I'm not entirely certain open post races lend value, but I'm positive that closed races don't. I'll go on record here and now and say that the act of posting 500 times was neither rewarding, informative, productive, or enjoyable. I'm solidly in the 75-125 class and will be happy to rejoin after this month of mayhem is over. Next stop, 600. :D Edit - When I'm talking about value, I mean value to the community. This posting effort was (ill) conceived to refresh and rejuvenate what was perceived as stagnant. Time will tell. How odd. I think the same thing happened to Dikiyoba today, likely right around the time she was posting random quizzes... Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

I made a really nasty bow through item editting. It's been a while, but it shot acid arrows of unusual potency. Like people said, make sure you back things up. Use the // symbol to comment the script so you can make and reverse changes easily. Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

Pythras - Be sure to get the High Level Party Maker from Kelandon's website. It will allow you to quickly set up for any of the available adventures without having to level up by trudging through more scenarios. You can also use it to customize a party to try out specific combat techniques, or character builds, and use them against some of the stranger creature types. Good luck! Bunch of ingrates is what you all are. Why, back in my day we didn't get choices. We were told what to think and when to think it. We didn't have time for funny, but that shouldn't be a stretch for most of you, as you couldn't see funny if it bit you on the nose. You're just lucky I can't reach through my int*ooff*ernet and grab*ouch* you and this is so much harder than it should be. Hrumph. Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

quote:I was just wondering who it would be, and how long it would take. I'll add a few other suggestions, so that maybe this gets pushed to BoA. Ezrah. Use BoA to create a Geneforge style system for adjusting genetic makeup. The mad scientist genre works well given the common perception of the furophile.
