Ben: Having programs and macros access mouse control and move the cursor to click on buttons is quaint, but the biggest WTF there is. quote:I actually wrote a program like that two years ago. It would take a post, split it up into sentences, quote each sentence separately and respond with randomly generated hard-right pro-Bush bile. Very amusing. :P -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Sweet! Once that post makes into the PPP, and you add the search function, the circle of botlife will be complete. The conspiracy is pleased. *nods* Posts: 143 | Registered: Sunday, October 29 2006 07:00 |

I bet Salmon, Alorael and Dikiyoba will definitley be the first three. I also bet I will be in the last three unless I somehow gain a few hundred posts - but i hope i'm not going to be eleventh. That is so maddening when you just didn't get in the top 10. :) -------------------- How many shapers are there? Why is Drypeak controlled by Zakary? Why is Barzahl a Guardian? What happened to sociopath.app? Who needs to fake feelings when you can fake fake feelings in order to mislead others into thinking you are misleading them into thinking that you have genuine sympathy and empathy? —Alorael, who is using none of the above programs because he is a real entity, using the terms "real" and "entity" quite loosely. The ease with which 500 posts can happen certainly does lessen the value irrespective of the value of each individual post. I'm not entirely certain open post races lend value, but I'm positive that closed races don't. I'll go on record here and now and say that the act of posting 500 times was neither rewarding, informative, productive, or enjoyable. I'm solidly in the 75-125 class and will be happy to rejoin after this month of mayhem is over. Next stop, 600. :D Edit - When I'm talking about value, I mean value to the community. This posting effort was (ill) conceived to refresh and rejuvenate what was perceived as stagnant. Time will tell. Aran can't complain about the low posting volume anymore. Now he will have to create a bot to evaluate posting quality so he can break out in the statistics the amount of spam to total posts. This month will create a surge in milestone threads as people get to reach new milestones earlier than usual. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

quote:Actually, I think he can. This looks like being a 5,000-6,000 post month, which is twice as much as last month but still way below the record of over 8,000 (July 2005). Even this average-level post volume has only been achieved by incessant spamming, and is unlikely to be maintained in future months. The underlying problem seems to be the low number of active members. There are currently only 170 active members; six months ago there were 300. -------------------- "I can't read this thread with that image. Sigh. It has been 11 months since Spiderweb released anything. Wait 10 days, and then look at the post volume. I'm sure it will be lower than at past releases, but it ought to be pretty decent, and without spam. Salmon, I'm going to have to invent a new gesture for you because the facepalm has exhausted its utility. -------------------- Slarty vs. Desk • Desk vs. Slarty • Timeline of Ermarian • G4 Strategy Central Posts: 3560 | Registered: Wednesday, November 7 2001 08:00 |
