Uh oh. Sounds like the Aranbot still needs a few upgrades and a patch.

—Alorael, who wonders if all these newfangled bots and suchlike have finally given Thuryl the push he needed to pass his Turing test.

That's okay, though--the Aranbot is only human-made, after all.

But Dikiyoba expects some unusually amazing, insightful, and entertaining commentary to go with the numbers tomorrow to make up for it. :P

Edit: Typo.

Bet on it. In fact, you appear to be first this month (the ranking itself doesn't change much over a week or two). This will be fun. :)

Agh! I feel the very fabric of space-time breaking from the strain of not knowing the stats!

All I know is that I've posted more this month than any other. Yay new records!

:Edit: And that half of my posts have to be edited to fix spelling.

Ephesos: Stay calm. The updater is running. It may take another 4 hours to complete (heavens, why do people keep registering accounts?), but it's running.

:P

It appears I won't be posting on Polaris any more.

Kind of a relief, really.

*grin* Aran disabled guest posting, because a spambot frustrated him. We haven't been stalked by spambots and it's unlikely that we'll be, so he may cool down.

Registering on Polaris is a level of commitment for which you are not ready and up with which you will not put?

I hope Aran 2.0 gets the monthly numbers out soon. Without them how can we tell how effective the posting games are. Geneforge philosophy threads are wearing out.

Nah, I gave in and looked... no surprise, really. Nioca has "frequented" the BoA and Editor boards enough to capture number 1. But I'm surprised to still be in the top ten with under 100...

Yes, I'll take it down in a few days or so. With some luck, the spammers scrub their lists if they can't get to a board for a while, so maybe this gets them off our back.

And the stats finished yesterday afternoon. A combination of lectures, homework, life and sleep conspired to keep me off posting it until now.

Now.

Edit: Yeah, those were in on it too.

Not bloody likely. When Desp blocked guest posting, the spambots started registering accounts. Now we just have fun with them.

Desp-style fun.

The Endeavor appears to be having some trouble. It hasn't updated in the past 24 hours, and you get an error message if you click on a member.

Well, we know you won't be surpised this month, Nioca. :P

But since we're on the subject, Dikiyoba has never been able to get the birthday list to work.

Aran, you're obviously missing the most lucrative part of your bots! You should be charging money for services rendered. Not little things like being listed, of course, but maybe a few dollars to add (or subtract) some posts, and maybe a few more dollars to do the same to someone else. It's a goldmine!

—Alorael, who wonders what the optimal amount of corruption is for profit. Too much corruption and people don't pay attention, and that means fewer people paying. Too little and you're not able to cackle while tossing wads of bills in the air.

I'm making use of a feature of Drupal that allows multiple sites to run on the same code (different modules, different databases). This saves space, and also a lot of hassle when updating.

In the process, both my blog and the Endeavor were upgraded to the current CVS Head (ie newest version, pre-5.0) of Drupal, from version 4.7.4 and 4.7.0 respectively.

Since the Endeavor was my first attempt at a Drupal site, a lot of things are badly hardcoded, and need to be changed. Much of this works again.

The updates were also fixed, ten minutes ago, as I posted in the Posting Statistics Reloaded topic. They should be up to date soon.

Alorael: I did have ads on the site. Nobody clicked them, but I did make the effort. :P

(The ads are currently down, pending a fix on the module that makes it compatible with the new Drupal engine.)

Sorry for the duplicate.

Yes, I know the site is down. It's a server-wide outage that started an hour and a half ago. The problem is on Dreamhost's side, and they are hopefully on it.

I realize the PPP is all automated now, but I've got my doubts. I believe that piperBot has a drinking problem. I cite two examples of egregious error in processing.

Is this endemic?

For the record, I was not looking for those topics, but they did, ahh, catch my eye.

Why is there no search option? That would be useful, especially if it worked more along the line of google search, and less along the line of ubb.search.

Sorry for the bump, can someone tell me why XxX is not ranked here?

EDIT: I should use emails sometimes. >_>

If I remember correctly, the Endeavor updates according to a person's recent posting habits. Someone who posts a lot, like Myself, Salmon, and Dikiyoba will get updated quite frequently. Someone who posts only rarely will get updated on a far slower rate. Besides, XxX is a very new newbie. His posting habits haven't quite been established yet.

Gosh, that Endeavour programme sounds dangerously close to intelligence. <shudders>

(Has anyone else read The Algebraist?)

In that case, as I post on average 30 per month, I suppose I should get updated once a day...
