That might be a good game, but it wouldn't be Avernum 4. In reality? I want a good storyline and a realistic world. And acceptable gameplay. Everything else is unimportant. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

I have about three scenarios in development, but so far none of them have gotten further than a few towns each. Every so often, I realise that something from one scenario would do better in another, so I recreate it. This slows development somewhat. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

TM's hall is a separate scenario - I don't think it's ever going to be a part of the HLPM. It's more of a semi-unofficial supplement. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

...and it's "cresent", not "crescent". And I found the amount of really hot female NPCs in that scenario to be somewhat disturbing. Heck, I think there must have been about four times as many female NPCs than male ones (those with dialog, anyway). -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

BoA, BoE, Avernum 2, Nethergate, Exile 2, Geneforge 1, Avernum 1, Exile 1, Exile 3, Avernum 3, Geneforge 2. Reasoning: Blades of Avernum is better than Blades of Exile for my purposes because of the fact that I own BoA and not BoE. Both blades games beat all Jeff's other games because they allow players to actually well... make their own scenarios. Yeah. After that, the games are rated first on plot, close second on gameplay, and far third on graphics. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

Not only does Jeff Vogel not exist, but in the moderator board they are secretly modifying people's brains, causing them to believe what Jeff has said incorrectly was never said (such as that idiotic myth than Geneforge was going to be sci-fi) and that if Jeff says something, it is automatically true, despite past evidence. All "memories" that contradict what is said by Jeff and Spiderweb Software now are obviously incorrect and should be dismissed. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

[rant] You do realise that a significant amount of this discussion (particularly the early parts) is totally superfluous (sp?) due to the fact that Phaedra is not nessecarially Kelanadon's opinion. He could, if he chose, put into his scenario a character who was absolutely nothing but a dumb slut - but that wouldn't mean that he saw women as being such. Even if Phaedra did "represent corporate whoredom for the purpose of linking meritocracy with larger breasts", that doesn't mean that Kelandon thought that was a good thing or even bloody well intended it to be like that. Just because he designed Phaedra as such a character *gasp* doesn't nessecarially mean that it's automatically an allusion to sexism. There's such a thing as "reading too much into the situation", and it has been happening a lot here. [/rant] OTOH, there still are other custom graphics, Kel. I'd just like to remind you that it's *utterly and completely unnessecary* to remove Mage Spells and Priest Spells (the attributes). All you have to do is remove the characters' knowledge of spells, and they will be unable to cast them. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

I greatly dislike football because it's definetely a strength sport - not totally, no, but it's far more strength than, say, fencing (which I greatly enjoy). As such, it's very hard for someone who weighs under 40 kilograms and has lost at arm-wrestling to ten-year-olds to do very well at it. However, I still think it's a perfectly acceptable sport, even though I've never bothered to learn how to play and am completely sure that I would be awful at it if I did. ...odds on Soverign being eventual winner are 1:5, San-Racku 7:1, The Master 190:1, and Rentar-Ihrno 1000:1...place your bets folks, place your bets... Anyway, I voted for Soverign and San-Racku. Because, not owning a copy of BoE, I have to vote on knowledge gleaned from reviews and mentions by other people. I voted Soverign because *anybody* can beat Rentar-Ihrno, and I voted San-Racku because he/she/it has a cooler-sounding name. I still think Soverign will win. ...place your bets folks, place your bets... -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

A level 40 character with all skill points in Dexterity, Bows, and Sharpshooter consistently does between 150 and 300 damage with Adlecheatrauge. Dammit, a level 1 character with the right skill points can pick up the thing and expect to consistently do 22d9 damage (which works out to 22-198) There is no way that can be considered fair. No goddamn way. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

I don't believe in Hell, Heaven, or any other afterlife, reincarnation, souls, or any other religious idea that must be based upon belief rather than observation of the world around us. Despite this, I still attempt to live by a moral and ethical code, not just because I will go to heaven if I do, and go to hell if I don't, but because it is my choice to do what I feel would be the right thing. However, if it turns out the Christians are right, I think it is doubtful I will go to hell when I die, as I will have lived my life to values that are very close if not almost identical to the generally accepted Christian ones, though of my own free will rather than because I follow the words of a holy book. I have a nasty suspicion this topic is about to degenerate into a religious flamewar. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

I came up with "Dallerdin" when I was eight, obsessed with Brian Jacques, and trying to write my own eight-book epic in the style of one of his and needed a name for a protagonist. The eight-book epic never got further than about three pages, but for some reason I really liked the name, and so I kept it and used it nown and then. As for the monikers, well... meh. Guess if you want. None of them are particularly obscure (yet).
