Has anybody tried changing it? Putting something like question = "Eugene"; when the creature's real name is William? Would it work? If it did, it could be useful for disguised creatures or some such.-------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

Just a minor point, but the Garbage Shredder puzzle/plot device would be rather easier if you were playing as a singleton or a party with Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

Kss-Urg's Valley, if I recall correctly. Having never actually played as a taker, I don't know. You should also check the walkthrough at the top of the board and attempt to capitalise and spell words properly. How hard can it be to spell Drayk? EDIT: Oh yes, my mistake. Clawbug canyon. The chances of Jeff porting it back are next to nil. He doesn't need Exile anymore. The chances of it being made as a BoE scenario are also next to nil. Nobody would want to waste time porting one of Jeff's rather... inferior products when they can just make their own. Anyway, we already *have* an E4. :) [ Saturday, February 26, 2005 19:34: Message edited by: Arbitrary BoA NPC Name ] -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

I would like to officially admit that I stayed up until 4 AM last night playing Bahssikava. Kelandon, you have done Blades of Avernum a great service. Just a small bug, probably way too hard to fix, but... In the fight against the Drake Lord who takes control of your party leader, it's possible to have your party leader teleport onto the same space as another monster. Anyway, great job... -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

And that makes it a banning What constitutes a major transgression for a member: + Any communication that is intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to a fellow member. + Hate speech against a certain group of people, due to their religion, sex, sexual orientation, nationality, etc. + Impersonation of another person or screen name (including "faking" a screen name by using similar-looking text characters). + Discussion of illegal activities. + Depictions of sexually explicit material. + Flooding the forums with lots of topics and posts about nothing legitimate. + Requests for "cracks", pirated software, ways to pirate software, etc. [ Saturday, February 19, 2005 17:37: Message edited by: Because we all need a good moniker. ] -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

I'm fairly sure I know much more about D&D worlds with large numbers of dragons than you do. I fail to see how my comments can be considered racist or segregating. Please give a proper explanation instead of meaningless insults. Remember, you lost the ability to meaninglessly insult people when you signed up. If you keep on doing it, those big, bad admin people come and take away your computer... -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

Perhaps you fail to understand. Double posting: n. The practice of posting two separate messages in a row when you could have easily posted a single message or pressed the "Edit Post" button. If you consider yourself to be a linguist, why do you have such ghastly spelling and grammar? Are you typing wearing a catcher's mitt? On the free speech comment: You never had a constitutional right to free speech. The U.S. Government just had the responsibility not to restrict you free speech. However, nobody else ever had that responsibility, and so should you choose to enter into an agreement with them, as you clearly did when you agreed to the terms of service, you accepted that you would not be able to speak freely. For example, the U.S. government cannot prevent you from spewing profanity. We can. Try posting a rude word. You will notice it gets censored. quote:Your ignorance is encyclopaediac. Part of the dictionary.com definition of community: a. A group of people having common interests: the scientific community; the international business community. b. A group viewed as forming a distinct segment of society: the gay community; the community of color. If you think I am lying, have a look at the URL for the dictionary.com entry: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=community quote:I can guarantee (sp?) that any of the admins will have no problem in banning you once they get around to reading this. And finally, on the "My party is all inepts but really powerful" comment, there is a thing. It's called the High Level Party Maker. It allows you to create a BoA party of any level between 1 and 100, with the option of also making a god party. Do your homework before you say that you know more than we do. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

Specifically: Why is Drakey an admin? As in, did he do anything? Is he just a well-respected member of the community? Did he send Jeff Vogel money? Not trying to suggest that he shouldn't be an admin, just wondering about the events that caused him to be one. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

Actually, there might be another wayto do this... When you use a candle or cast a Light spell, doesn't the party just get an invisible affect? Like poison or acid or haste, except you can't see that you have it. And so, if you could find the number for the light affect, by trail and error, say, then you could remove it when the player steps on a terrain script or special encounter rectangle. You could always also just make the entire dungeon dark, disable the light spell, remove all candles/lanterns from the game, and then have lighted terrain in all places other than the area you want to be dark. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |

I am fairly sure Jeff Vogel pulls that one on you during either Avernum I or Avernum II, in the Spiral Crypt. (a small part of the dungeon consists of a maze-like area where you can see only 1 space, light spells don't work and generic undead attack you.) So there should be a call in BoA. Then again, Jeff could just have been Jeff and decided to make it so BoA designers can't change that. -------------------- ~Note : The professional newbie's advice should not be taken seriously, or at all.~ LINKAGE Posts: 364 | Registered: Saturday, January 17 2004 08:00 |
