You can do the final 3 quests in any order. Running the final gauntlet is not required in order to kill Hawthorne.

As Tyranicus says, you need to talk to Erika, collect the brooches, and follow the appropriate dialogue options before you can use the teleporter.

Because your PC starts the game as a novice. If there hadn't been a disaster of some sort, then the skilled NPCs would be able to resolve the plot without your help. It's a plot device, which Jeff uses often.

To give him credit though, GF2 and Nethergate don't use the 'disaster' scenario. GF1 does, but it does so in a slightly different way (the disaster occurred long before your visit).

A friend at Uni introduced me to Exile 2, which I played on her iMac for a term. Then the vacation came round, and I was forced by my addiction to buy the Exile trilogy for my PC.

An oozing blade is not very useful against rotghroths, and anyway I never found one in GF2.

All you'll find in the dark slith temple is the
blade - on the altar.

The tip is in the Crypt of Drath.

The pommel is in the Nepharim underground fort by the lake.

how do i get into the vahantai lands or what ever they are called in The Avernum Trilogy

In A3, you can't go back to Olgai/Egli/Mancuso, etc. You can visit some Vahnatai lands in the endgame, but nowhere you've been before, and only for a specific purpose.

I went for steel spines (damage attacker), for my guardian who obviously fights in melee a lot.

If you wore the EC with a shaper/agent, then maybe a golden crystal (5% resistance to all hostile effects) would be better.

Judith is sometimes in Shayder, Bavner or Hectar.
Meena is sometimes in Shayder, Kuper or Hectar.

Doesn't slow make you forfeit alternate turns?

I can confirm it gives +2 strength to your creation(s) as well as your PC (in this case a guardian, as you correctly deduced). But I'm not sure how much difference +2 strength really makes to my gazer's attack; no more can I quantify how much the +2 strength boosts my PC's attack. It would simply be too boring to do a proper controlled trial.

Which one do people think is better? The puresteel blade does more damage, but the guardian claymore boosts strength and quick action.

The word you probably wanted was "busy" - but I prefer bussy because of the mental images, above.

If a page is under construction it would better not to link to it for the time being - replace the link with a COMING SOON! plain text string. Then when the page is ready, update the index page. That way people don't have to follow a link and wait for a new page to download, in order to find out there's nothing there.

Yup, it's a drakon called Lord Ghaldring. He doesn't appear in GF3, except in the text at the end. But he is the one who sets off the whole chain of events in GF3 - a war between shapers and their creations.

go west from the docks and crawl along the south side of the lake, searching every wall for secret passages. it's not far, but it is hidden (hence the secret passage). i think you do need to have the clue from the vahnatai council, before you can get anywhere with this.

It turns out to be a quicksilver ring: +1 to dexterity, +4 to luck, but cursed (healers can uncurse it, it’ll then be worth 2000 gold).

Duh. You missed the whole point. The new "non-shaper" game is likely to be exactly the same as before, but with a different starting point.

Don't give up yet.

I think it's possible you already have the key. Check your special items screen: do you have the Silver Key? The tunnel is an outdoors encounter and you can't ever enter it as such, you can only pick up the key once.

Reading your first post again more carefully, I note that you refer to "opening the doors to the chamber". You don't need to open any doors. There is a secret passage at the north end of the east wall of the circlet chamber. You can enter via Meena's bedroom. You can access Meena's bedroom itself via another secret passage, from the east. This leads to a long passage and a door to the brigand's lair.
