I suspect you won't get many disagreeing views, on this board. For me the Exile trilogy is one of comparatively few computer games I have ever got really into. You can't find the key until Scab tells you where it is. You need to activate the right conversation option with him. It is possible to add special items using the character editor - if you know the right number. This is one of those crimes, where in Exile the town would have forgotten after a while, but in Avernum the game never forgets. I guess this is more realistic, but rather annoying nonetheless. Yeah, they'll be united only in opposition to you, which negates your attempt at conflict resolution (if such it was). Getting back to the subject in hand (Alex's views on homosexuality) I would say that TM has the best of it. However much he dresses it up, Alex has confessedly made a value judgement: "I'm choosing the heterosexual lifestyle because I think it's better than the homosexual one." That's good advice. The only thing to add - giants aren't difficult to kill, the main problem with them is their attacks do a lot of damage to your PCs. I voted rotdhizon because (a) very hard to kill and (b) very deadly to anything except another rotdhizon. Proposition. Garzahd is a rubbish wizard. Proof. Suppose, in order to obtain a contradiction, that Garzahd is a really a great wizard. Then he wouldn't be scared of a bunch of adventurers. So he wouldn't need to hide away in the far corner of his fort. And he wouldn't need to create impassable runes to prevent moving around his own fortress. And he wouldn't need to create a massive barrier outside the fort to stop people from entering. And he wouldn't need to conceal the coordinates of his fort. Nonetheless, Garzahd does all these things. Furthermore, if he had any intelligence whatsoever, Garzahd would simply cast three kill spells on anyone wearing a ring of will - thus neutralising any potential threat. Yet he doesn't. To sum up then, Garzahd's behaviour is inconsistent with being a great wizard. He's actually a bit of a wimp, and relies on his summoned demons to defend him. I think the chasm drake one is a "spare" crystal - there are actually 6 very close to the cavern itself. You've probably just missed a secret passage. EDIT: If you're really stuck, buy the hint book.
