There IS a statue, at x20,y37. It's underneath some webs, so you might not have spotted it. Near the south of the map, the second building along from the left.

Rotghroth attack in Geneforge Series

What type of damage is a rotghroth attack? I always assumed it was melee damage, but I then encountered some creations (oozing crawlers, IIRC) that were immune to rotghroth attacks. In the end, I had to beat them to death with a vlish. So what attack do rotghroths have - it would be useful to know which resistance to try to pump up for my PC.

Time vs. Money in General

Speaking economically, the value of money depends upon its timing.

Therefore, if you value time more than money, then you are necessarily valuing money. If you value money more than time, then you are actually valuing time.

(Yes, I admit this is silly. I take no responsibility for anyone taking this seriously, and I shan't respond to replies.)

All of earth's continents used to be joined together, and only split apart very recently, around 180 million years ago. Those genera, family, and order levels were all developed before the continents split apart. Birds, ants, moths and flies all developed 225m years ago; mammals developed during the triassic period between 248m and 206m years ago. Our continents are hardly isolated (most of them have land contact with the others) and not enough time has passed for significant inconsistencies to develop.

Edit: not to mention, it is impossible to go right back to the drawing board once other species are already interfering with your development opportunities.

Edit 2: I still don't think I'm being clear enough. I'm saying that earth and a hypothetical planet X might start from similar conditions, but the minute the very first species evolves it will influence all the subsequent ones. The general forms of viable life on earth are not independent of each other, however the forms of life on earth are independent of those on planet X. It is fundamentally unsound to extrapolate from the variety of lifeforms on earth to predict the variety of lifeforms on planet X.

Well the shaper graphic is fairly androgynous.

I'd be more impressed if you could name a male agent. I can't remember any female guardians, either.

My suggestion is to run away, leading the golem out into the corridor, where it will be quickly slaughtered by the waiting rotghroths.

On the contrary, it is unreasonable. Life forms are in competition with each other, and may inhibit or influence one another's development. For instance, in New Zealand where there used to be no mammals, unique forms of birdlife were developed - as soon as they came into contact with mammals they became extinct (or at least endangered).

The existence of one species may prevent another from being viable, and vice versa: it is a matter of luck which one comes first. There are not enough continents on this planet to argue that every possible species has been given the chance to develop on its own without interference. If one accepts that mutations are random, then another planet with the same starting conditions could end up with entirely different forms of life.

You don't say which game in the trilogy you refer to, I assume you're talking about A1.

In the Tower of Magi, 'X' will teach anatomy skill, but only after you kill the adze-haakai.

[EDIT: it costs 3000 gold per level, gold in the game is capped at 9000 so it takes ages to train everybody up five times.]

I don't know how to get pathfinder skill in A1 (apart from a mind crystal in Bargha), but if you have safe travel spell and high resistances then you can get by.

I don't usually agree with correct people's spelling or grammar, but I've just got to point out that snot <> snout. Look it up.

Consequently, Contra's post initally struck me as rather bizarre...

Maybe the gigantic hooters occurred because serviles were always telling lies. Or maybe it's just a really bad drawing, and they're not intended to have a snout at all.

I'd add to your list Peter F Hamilton Night's Dawn trilogy.

I for one like the genre. It usually avoids the pseudoscience and gadgetary of star trek, while managing to ask difficult questions about humanity.

OK - so a 20 stat poison resistance would mean you had 0% chance of ever getting poisoned?

What effect does the poison resistance stat have? Does it reduce your chance of becoming poisoned in the first place, or your choice of taking damage from poison?

I don't think the purpose was to save the fox, but rather to train the hounds. So that the hound could still follow the fox, despite being confused by herring scent, that was the purpose of the training.

I'm not saying it's my ultimate favourite movie, because that depends on what mood I'm in. Other possibilities include LA Confidential, Arsenic and Old Lace, Jean de Florette, Groundhog Day, The Incredibles, etc.

London Bombings in General
Agent
Member # 2759

Why do they do it? To create terror and suffering, and to undermine our way of life. Because they're so pathetic the only way they can validate their lives is to try and ruin other people's.

But they will fail. Everyone is united in their sympathy for the victims of the bombings. But already today most of London is back to normal - trains and buses are running except for the directly affected stations, people are going to work as usual. In Scotland the G8 summit will resume and, I hope, we will be a step closer to a fairer world.

In London we previously experienced terrorist attacks in the 70s/80s/90s. Most people's lives continued as normal, and we persisted in an attempt to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in the North of Ireland. There is work to do there, but the ceasefire continues. The IRA did not succeed in terrorising us and nor will these new terrorists.

If you get butchered whenever you enter giant territory, then it's unlikely you're ready to visit Erika yet. Erika's tower has tests to prevent you from reaching her until your characters are quite strong.

Given that there are a lot of demons about, you should probably wait until you are strong enough to obtain the orb of thralnai, before you explore the waters west of the giant fort.

For normal training you have to expend skill points and/or coins to improve your PCs. Whereas L3 spells are typically found "lying around" in dungeons.

It really is very similar to GF2/3. You can obtain up to 2 levels in each spell/ability by paying a trainer. You don't need any more than that, but if you wish you can further boost the skill by seeking out and finding free magic books/canisters. It seems reasonable to suggest that there should be some consequences for making that choice.

On occasions A3 has already done something similar - in order to get dispel barrier L3, you must commit a crime.
