Leila Schahid, the palestinian ambassador, has been dementing the news and speaks of a reversible coma Arafat went into after the application of anaesthetics. I don't know, if that is true or not. The Palestinians seem to follow the official and legal course for the time being, that - in any such situation - authorises Secretary of State Ahmed Kureia to lead in Arafat's stead for 60 days. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

This news came from Israel's TV. But from what I can find out he's not yet dead, at least that's what the French say. Edit: I don't know the correct term. A literal translation would be: brain dead. He is not clinically dead, he's brain dead. Heart and lungs continue functioning, due to the equipment he is linked to. This can go on for weeks, if the machines are not stopped, so there should be time enough for his successors to organize themselves. I expect a harsh struggle for power. He planned a two to three-weeks trip, no more, and considered having another vacation in December. I'm worried. I also share your impression, Stug, that something happened to X. Don't know what type of mouse you have, but if it is a simple one with a ball underneath, it might need cleaning. Ask your Dad to do that for you. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

The Polaris project was not meant to be that ridiculously long post of names you currently find there. It was a searchable database. The database is still there and I can add to it, but noone can access it any more. So if you find you'd like to hunt Logo down and make him repair the database, I'll gladly join the chase. Oh yes! :) -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Win95 can't read long path names. I don't know, if there's a patch for this problem, but it does make me angry that spiderweb advertizes BoA for Win95 on their site without giving a hint how to solve this. If you found the control panel and the south west room, you've already seen both mirrors. What you need to find now is the supreme energy source. I suggest that you search north of the control panel. That damn orb can be hurt by the laser beams. As soon as you are able to move the mirrors you can catch it in a beam and hold it for a few rounds, while you figure out how to position the mirror. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

quote:Yes, that could be it. I coincidentally reproduced the bug while playing around with walls in my own test scenery. I got an identical error message when I had chosen and saved a wallset in the town details window and then forgot to draw it. That's somewhat similar to a crumbled wall that has ceased to exist. The mirrors: Place one of them in the southern room and direct the beam to the north. Catch that beam with the other mirror and direct it west, so that it hits the power source. Philosophical Implementation in Blades of Avernum | |

Does it always have to be philosophy? I liked playing Stareye's scenario just for its own sake. But in the end, the question it left me with was: who owns your mind. To me, this is a very real, very realistic question. I don't know what Stareye has in mind. My impression of The Perfect Forest was that of an introduction into a theme and I look forward to what he will be doing with it. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Two windows pop up. The first with the actual error code, the second gives the information that avernum.exe caused an error and has to be shut down. That could point to a bug somewhere in the interrelation between the game engine and the Windows OS, which Stareye inadvertently triggered in one specific area of his scenario. Maybe Jeff Vogel should be asked for his opinion. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

If you've found the controlling device, you should have got a message a little while later that tells you what to do. You cannot move the power beams, but what you can move are the mirrors. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |
