quote:It puzzles me that it occurs only at that one point and noplace else. I mean, how often do you leave a town/dungeon in the course of a game. Numerous times; but only Lost Mine /Lost City have that problem. That's why I also thought that something within the script may be responsible for this. I can see the new terrain beginning to appear before I get the error message. Also, the error did not happen, when I did not pick up Arivan's bracelet. Without the bracelet, switching towns was no problem. Hope that helps a bit. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Well, you are not burdened with a language that capitalizes half of its words; so perhaps you do not feel that same deep urge to simplify things once in a while. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

quote:Whatever went wrong in the past, now, in the presence, all this might simply be too much. I don't think that Mariann Vogel works full time, how could she. Jeff is programming, so the bulk of the office work is on Linda Strout's shoulders. And though she is universally disliked, it's only fair to say that it is a lot of work for just one person. Those who suggest withdrawing the BoE scenarios from Spiderweb probably point in the right direction. Let them be hosted some place else, and let Spidweb just give a link to that site. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

I do enjoy playing this story, Stareye, I really like it a lot. I encounter one minor bug, probably not important, but still annoying. When I wish not to make use of the teleporter in the Lost Mine, but want to go up to Lost City again and on to explore a bit, I can't. The message I get says: 'Unhandled exception: c0000005 at address:00449288'. A window pops up telling me that Avernum.exe produced an error and has to be shut down, and the game crashes. I tried with different parties and it's always the same. Yes I know. I fixed it now for the time being, but it may repeat itself anytime. Djur, your help will be welcome. There's more to this than the error displayed, as I noticed yesterday. It probably happened during the ISP-switch the board underwent. I'll hunt poor Logo down again and ask him to contact you. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Thank you, Djur. I'll copy this and mail/PM it to him. He has phpMyAdmin, the error is visible. [ Monday, August 23, 2004 10:10: Message edited by: ef ] -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

If compatibility mode doesn't work for you, there's also a compatibility kit downloadable from Microsoft that supports older games. As far as I know, there are quite a few people here on Win XP who do not experience problems. It should be possible to adapt the system. Nevertheless I agree with Xan. Win 2000 Pro is preferable. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

It's afternoon now. I'll decide in the evening which pages I'll do. The Avernums: Avernum 3 has very good walkthroughs, Avernum 1 has Silver Harloe's annotated map. So maybe we should concentrate more on Avernum 2? Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Seems it has been rereleased by Barracuda, Inc. and can be bought as a special offer for $19.95. Timelapse Google is always a good idea. :) -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

I find that very irritating. What you can't do for instance is place a bed next to a wall and have a wall hanging behind it. The hanging is a 'terrain tile', so it doesn't work. Or a chest and a light source above it. Doesn't work. Or a chair and a picture on the wall above it. Doesn't work. Of course there are ways around it, but it's limiting what you can do in a room. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

You will have to use the english code, but of course your dialogues and texts can be in german, or any other language you choose. Don't worry, the manual is not that hard to read, and if you don't understand something, just ask. There are people here from Germany and Switzerland, so you'll get help. As far as I know, terrorist training was to be had in the palestinian camps in Jordan. The german RAF trained there for almost two decades. Later on, Afghanistan provided facilities too. Iraq has no such tradition. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Noone in his right mind would consider living from shareware, unless doing this is a private dream and enables you to live your own individual life and do the things you really want to do. It was what made me curious about this guy years back, when I played Exile 1 and discovered that he actually planned to get a living out of it. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |
