quote:That was more or less my point; I've used that Kennedy example in this kind of discussion before. The Romans may have done the actual killing, but... well, would you say Hitler killed no one but himself after WWI? The Jewish leaders were behind it, even if they didn't actually carry it out. I hate to say "Jewish leaders" because I know some will see that as racism, but... oh well. That's what they were. As Tumble/Iron/Seaweed said, it didn't really matter who killed Jesus as long as they were human. The Jews and Romans were just there for the job, and I don't hate either race/culture for it. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass. I don't watch much of either, but from what I've seen, I can come up with a generalization: Old movies have stories and character, new movies have picture and music. In my opinion, new movies look and sound far better than old ones. Ben Hur is a great movie, I'm sure, but I found it incredibly boring. Call me shallow, but I just can't like a movie without aesthetics. Or a game, for that matter; Diablo II may be slash-and-hack, but I prefer it to most RPGs just because of the quality of its music and graphics (maybe I'm living in the past a bit, too). On the other hand, most movies today suck, quite frankly. They may be more aesthetically pleasing, but they have no spirit, no moral. LotR is a good combination of both the old story and the new aesthetics, and look how successful that was. I wish Hollywood would take a hint. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass. But we were, and are, influenced by him, which makes us all, including Satan, to blame. It seems to me that those who accuse the movie of being anti-Semitic are those who haven't seen it, while those who have seen it say that it's not. None of those I've talked to who have seen it have said that it's anti-Semitic. What everyone needs to understand is that Jews killed Jesus; the Jews did not. That little word I added in there, "the", is what's caused two thousand years of bloodshed and violence. From what I've heard, Mel Gibson either understands that or at least appears to understand that in his movie. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass. Dammit, TM is .4 higher than me! And I can't vote him lower! What am I to do? I've got a few people with votes of 3 or 4, I know that, but most are 5 or 1. Mostly 1's. You're right once again, Aran; people either vote because they're pissed, or very impressed. The 3's and 4's came from boredom, so there's a third, but... anyway... On a more useful note, what exactly is the karma vote weighting system? Someone told me that the earlier you vote, the more it counts (the first vote counts more than the twenty-first, in other words), and I've also heard that the post count of the voter decides the weight (a guru's opinion would count far more than that of an apprentice)... which is true, if either? EDIT: I remember that story! The sneetches with stars thought themselves better than those without, so those without found some wandering salesman guy to apply stars, then the old starred sneetches got theirs removed to look different, and the new starred ones got theirs removed while the others got theirs replaced, until it was one continuous line - get it removed, get it added, removed, added... until the machines broke down, or something, and the machine man was insanely rich, and the sneetches poor but disillusioned and friendly to all, regardless of stars. How touching. But most Spiderwebbers would agree that having five stars is better than having none, and anyway, we can't change the stars ourselves... Sorry, didn't read the whole topic. Eh. I feel stupid, more so than usual. UA seems less... methodical, I think. Less organized and mechanical. But maybe that was just in RPs. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass. Zephyr = Avacado? I was wondering where he had gone... He'll snap out of it, whoever he is. Alec's right - if he gets out of control in a Hitleresque sort of way, the government will take care of it. Manipulation is fun, I'll give him that. I've gotten quite good at manipulating the people I know in real life, and that skill usually allows me to avoid being manipulated myself. However, to be utterly obsessed with it... it's kind of screwed up. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass. I haven't seen it myself, but... if even he says that... Thanks for the spelling, ef. "We" being Germans, I assume? The ocean! Of course! Forgot that one. Chlorine, too. I don't know why, but I like the smell of pools. The taste is a different story, but... Wise Man's higher than me? And not just on marijuana? Oh horrors of horrors... I doubt that my karma will ever get above 3. I've got one of the highest post counts on Spiderweb (really, gurus aren't in the majority) and also one of the highest number of karma ratings (in the upper 75%, anyway), and no matter how many new ratings I get, it doesn't change much. I've probably got some karma ratings of 1 by the bigger Despers, the ones with plenty o' posts, and I can't shake that off. In other words, some people like me and some people don't. I don't need a karma rating to tell me that. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass. Bring on the peeps? You have no idea what you're getting into. Happy Easter and happy Passover, everyone. I get to celebrate a religious holiday by eating jelly beans and getting fat on pas... pasca... pasqua... um... Russian cheesecake? No idea how to spell it. Anyway. Not the best way to praise the Lord, but that's how it is. I haven't seen The Passion, but even the reviews of it that were meant to be negative made it sound good. I have a friend who was not only irreligious but also anti-religious at times who went to see it; that night was the first time he'd ever read any part of the Bible, and not a day has gone by since then without at least a bit of reading. He's not exactly a born-again Christian, but it certainly had an effect on him. To say that it's two and a half hours of senseless violence... that doesn't really fit with anything I've seen or heard. Motrax, if you don't want your matzah, send it to me. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass. I've never had that happen to me... the worst smell? Probably rotting flesh. Can't remember where I've smelled it, but when you live in/near the Adirondaks, it's not entirely uncommon. There was another smell once, but... well. It wasn't all my fault, I'll put it that way. On a more... appealing note, I like the smell of cymbals. The drums don't smell all that good, but the cymbals kind of balance that out. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass. "Hold on a minute," said Sir David, coming out of a corridor. "Let me see those glasses." The professor handed them over reluctantly. "What do you need them for?" "Nothing. They're scratched up, right? I won't be a second." A moment and several duct tape noises later, he turned around and returned the glasses. "Stupid Nazis." "What? What did you do?" They were completely scratch- and dust-free. Sir David smiled enigmatically and put the roll of duct tape back from where it had come. "If you need anything else fixed, just let me know. Now," he continued, walking towards a clear wall, "where are we? And WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" "What are you talking - WISE MAN, GET OVER HERE! LOOK AT THAT!" -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass. omg he's so kewl isnt he Many of the stores near me use Macs in plain view - probably because they look better, but hey. It's nice to see. Does anyone know if Apple has some kind of monopoly on Hollywood computers, or something like that? I see so many Macs in movies today, so many more than you would in real life... and comics, too. Anyone ever noticed that? Most comic characters have Macs, or Mac spin-offs. N-S-W (W) + E (E) causes the reverse of my former problem - both entrances lead to the west side of the tunnel. N-W (W) + S-E (E) causes the old problem, as does W (W) + N-S-E (E). For some reason, the normal setup, N (N) + E (E) etc. makes the party start in the south when coming from the east or west. S (E) + E (N) + N (W) + W (S) is the same old problem. I'm at a loss. Ideas, anyone? Would making the entrance 3x1 help, do you think? EDIT: Never mind, it doesn't. I tried. I specifically set the coordinates and all. I didn't see any white rectangles (the town entrance is one square), but I did set the coordinates, and it still doesn't work. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. First of all, I am a complete newbie. Remember that. Anyway. In my first test scenario thing I've got a dungeon surrounded by trees to the north and south, and open to the east and west. Exiting to the north and south is impossible, and exiting to the east and west brings me right where I want it to. The problem is that entering from either direction brings me to the east end of the dungeon. I've got my east and south entrance markers on the same square in the east of the dungeon and the north and west entrances in the west end. The problem is one-way; entering from the east brings me to the east, not the west, although entering from the west brings me to the east. I've set town exits manually in Town Details and all that, and it's still not working. Help, anyone? -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. The bump brought Sir David back to consciousness. He was a fraction of his former size, though he didn't know it. Getting up and opening the door, he looked around. "Hello?" "My life suffocates!" "Er?" "Planting seeds of hate?" "Who are you?" Sir David lifted the helmet from his head an peered at the man in the corridor. "You're... green? Any particular reason?" "I've loved, turned -" "Look, would you stop that?" Sir David interrupted, exasperated. "- to hate!" "Really, that's very -" "Trapped far -" Sir David drew his sword. "If you don't stop that right now -" "Sorry, sorry!" HoS held up his hands as if warding off a blow. "Come on, we're learning about the human body, not destroying it!" "Alright, alright." Sir David sheathed the blade and began walking down the corridor towards a distant light. HoS followed. "Are we inside the body now?" French horn? *grumblegrumble* Would you mind coming to my high school and teaching them how to play? You know, those "french horn players" who are in the band more because there's no one else available than for any other reason... I play drums, percussion (it's not just drumset, Motrax!) and piano, but I can't see myself majoring in any of those in college. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon TEH CONSPIRACY IZ ALL In case of emergency, break glass.
