I see your point. The trouble with porn in particular is that apart from being an industry that you can't really move out of, it's also an industry that you can't count on staying in until the usual retirement age; once you're no longer pretty enough or no longer able to perform when you're expected to, you're going to find yourself out of a job. And once that happens, woe betide you if you've picked up expensive habits instead of saving during your career. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I've heard of this bug before. I think it only happens in one or two areas. (By the way, investing experience in your creations to level them up isn't an optimal strategy anyway. In Geneforge 1, it's usually better to reabsorb your creations and make new ones every time you learn to make a new type of creation, or even whenever your shaping skill improves.) -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Well, yes. But given that it's been valuable throughout pretty much all of recorded history, we can say fairly confidently that gold will continue to be valuable in the future. Only in the event of a worldwide collapse of civilisation would gold lose its value, and if you're worried about preparing for that sort of contingency, you should be stockpiling things for their use value instead of their exchange value. For the record, I am not a survivalist. But if you want to be one, you may as well be a good one. You must admit, that does seem to be a rather limited set of future career options. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

quote:Like practically all other developed countries, the US uses fiat money. Unless you keep your savings in the form of something like gold bullion, your money only has value in the first place because the government says it does. If the US government were to collapse, your money would be just so much worthless paper. Given that the government is responsible for the fact that your money is worth anything at all, don't you think it's only fair that it has some say in how it's spent? :P [ Sunday, January 15, 2006 13:35: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! It's a utility scenario which I designed for my own use a few years ago, and which somehow made it onto the web. Come to think of it, I may as well upload it to my site. EDIT: http://thuryl.desperance.net/dmnarmor.zip Since I never intended it to be used by anyone but me, there's currently no documentation. It should be simple enough for you to figure out how to use it, though. There's also no password, so feel free to edit it for your own use as you see fit, but please don't distribute modified versions. Make the party gather evidence of the villain's actions. If they were observant during their original escape, maybe they found some then. If not, well, they have to sneak back in on their own and bring some. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Ah. Well, if this is a personal issue for you, I can understand that. I won't press the matter any further. I'm not sure how one could argue the latter isn't better, since it doesn't involve the actual abuse of a child. Considering that unlike ordinary porn, hentai doesn't involve any real sexual acts on the part of real actors, I'm going to have to disagree with you here. quote:Keeping a domain name registered really isn't all that expensive -- only about $70 a year, last I checked. Did you put the editor in the correct folder (Blades of Avernum Files)? Did you replace or delete any files during or after installing the editor? What's the exact text of the error message you were given, and at what exact point did the error occur (for example, did it occur before or after the scenario intro text, in scenarios which have intro text?) -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! By the way, the "someone" who told you about them is Sage Eichler, who lives under the town of Spire and will pay you to report their location to him so he can experiment on them. I'd have felt bad about completing that quest, but frankly, I suspect Eichler will come out of the encounter in worse shape than the spiders do.
