I see your point. The trouble with porn in particular is that apart from being an industry that you can't really move out of, it's also an industry that you can't count on staying in until the usual retirement age; once you're no longer pretty enough or no longer able to perform when you're expected to, you're going to find yourself out of a job. And once that happens, woe betide you if you've picked up expensive habits instead of saving during your career.

I've heard of this bug before. I think it only happens in one or two areas.

(By the way, investing experience in your creations to level them up isn't an optimal strategy anyway. In Geneforge 1, it's usually better to reabsorb your creations and make new ones every time you learn to make a new type of creation, or even whenever your shaping skill improves.)

Well, yes. But given that it's been valuable throughout pretty much all of recorded history, we can say fairly confidently that gold will continue to be valuable in the future. Only in the event of a worldwide collapse of civilisation would gold lose its value, and if you're worried about preparing for that sort of contingency, you should be stockpiling things for their use value instead of their exchange value.

For the record, I am not a survivalist. But if you want to be one, you may as well be a good one.

You must admit, that does seem to be a rather limited set of future career options.

I have heard that the Hawaiians have a word, "aa", for lava with a thin crust of solid rock covering it. It's two syllables -- "ah-ah". Supposedly, this is the sound one makes when walking over it.

I want my money here and not just promised from the government.
Like practically all other developed countries, the US uses fiat money. Unless you keep your savings in the form of something like gold bullion, your money only has value in the first place because the government says it does. If the US government were to collapse, your money would be just so much worthless paper. Given that the government is responsible for the fact that your money is worth anything at all, don't you think it's only fair that it has some say in how it's spent? :P

It's a utility scenario which I designed for my own use a few years ago, and which somehow made it onto the web.

Come to think of it, I may as well upload it to my site.

EDIT: http://thuryl.desperance.net/dmnarmor.zip

Since I never intended it to be used by anyone but me, there's currently no documentation. It should be simple enough for you to figure out how to use it, though. There's also no password, so feel free to edit it for your own use as you see fit, but please don't distribute modified versions.

Make the party gather evidence of the villain's actions. If they were observant during their original escape, maybe they found some then. If not, well, they have to sneak back in on their own and bring some.

While I don't have any personal experience with Linux, I can say fairly confidently from a casual reading of various Linux tech support forums that the answer to this question is "yes".

Ah. Well, if this is a personal issue for you, I can understand that. I won't press the matter any further. Apologies if I caused any offence; it's something of a personal issue for me too.

Do you have any evidence, preferably from a reputable psychological journal, to support these assertions?

This will always be a problem for MMOs. But who cares about single-player games? Woo, scary, he haxxed himself extra hitpoints!
I think the main issue is that if SW games were open source, it'd be trivial to turn an unregistered copy of a game into a registered one.

Never say this to a communist. If I had my way, there would be no money at all, no poor or rich. I realize that unfortunately living organisms are insanely greedy by nature. It's the way that they survive. Imagine if humans were one blissful collective community living in peace with everything everyone wants. In this society you can have as much fun as you want to the extent that you must keep in mind your work. Imagine everyone in the world being employed with equal hours as everyone else. Nobody would be hungry because people would eat equally (according to their physical needs). Clearly no country has anywhere near the organizational capacity to institute such a ... "utopian" system. But it's something to dream about.
As long as there are things that need to be done and people would rather not do them, I don't think it's really possible for a large society of humans to live like this. Which is all the more reason to develop artificial intelligence quickly so that the human species can go extinct, secure in the knowledge that we'll be replaced by something better than ourselves.

Either way, both forms should be eliminated (gee, thanks a lot Supreme Court, you just added to the problem).
How far do you want to take that line of argument? Should all art that depicts illegal acts be banned on the off chance that some potential criminal is inspired by it?

Seems like a pretty simplistic view of consent. Working in a lousy job because one has no better options may technically be a consensual arrangement, but it's hardly an ideal one.

Besides, are you saying that since watching porno with children is bad, that watching porno with animated children is any better?
Of course. I'm not sure how one could argue the latter isn't better, since it doesn't involve the actual abuse of a child. (Incidentally, it's also perfectly legal in the USA, thanks to a recent Supreme Court ruling.)

So to you, what's depicted is more important than what actually happened? How interesting. I guess you also think that every actor who's played a murderer in a movie should be given a long term of imprisonment, then.

Well, no. Considering that unlike ordinary porn, hentai doesn't involve any real sexual acts on the part of real actors, I'm going to have to disagree with you here.

Keeping a domain name registered really isn't all that expensive -- only about $70 a year, last I checked. He likely pays much more for bandwidth than he does for domain name registration.

Did you put the editor in the correct folder (Blades of Avernum Files)? Did you replace or delete any files during or after installing the editor? What's the exact text of the error message you were given, and at what exact point did the error occur (for example, did it occur before or after the scenario intro text, in scenarios which have intro text?)

By the way, the "someone" who told you about them is Sage Eichler, who lives under the town of Spire and will pay you to report their location to him so he can experiment on them.

I'd have felt bad about completing that quest, but frankly, I suspect Eichler will come out of the encounter in worse shape than the spiders do.
