I'd prefer a movie. After all, they made Pirates of the Carribean from a theme park ride and that Bear one too. Wait, no the Bears were awful... I'd like to see how the script gets visualized although I might be disappointed. For me, LOTR was disappointing as I had a different view of the world than what came from the books to the movie. Still... -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." "You Spiderwebbians are mad, mad, mad as March hares." On the Supersize me theme, I want to see a movie of this stuff. It could be titled, "I'm a Hungry Man and That's OK" with every meal coming from a Swansons box. The hard part might be finding an actor to do the script... or maybe getting insurance to cover that actors ills during the filming would be harder. -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." What do you think of A4 in Avernum 4 | |

As a starting point, all Avernum titles met a minimum standard (for me) of being a fun way to occupy some computer time. That being said, A4 was my least favorite but it certainly didn't arouse feelings of disgust or abhorrence. In fact, the deeper parts of the game I felt were better done than the earlier parts. BOA, well a point of BOA is not to produce a playable game but instead to release the engine to independant script writers to explore and expand the experience. So, if you are limiting yourself to Spidwebs universe you are missing out on the best aspects of the game. I am not a scriptwriter (no time, small desire) but I am thankful that the engine is provided so that others with talent and desire have an opportunity to express themselves in the Avernum world. I am also thankful that they are willing to share their talents with the greater world and provide their creations to us. One look at any of the places where scenarios are rated would quickly provide you proof that you need to explore 3rd party scenarios. Many are rated higher than those that come pre-packaged. quote:Originally written before France-Portugal semi. After the semi I was glad to see portugal lose, they didn't play like they deserved to go on - no offensive snap whatever. Going to pull for France and Zidane, he's playing at a level beyond his age and is really pulling France along - a great leader. Germany-Portugal: Portugal cannot create any offence so likely won't win. That being said, one will likely see a lot of the second stringers playing and this may result in making the match tough to call - but I think even then Germany has better depth. And those fresh legs will deal with the fatigue problem that crept into their semi. -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." Speaking in third person by Maimo.... is derivative and unintersting. This unique perspective is done earlier, done better, done longer by Diki. The hardest part of the game was surviving boredom after all the hack and slash. Germany has momentum, as does France. Italy has overcome adversity and Portugal survived despite missing some of their best talent. Should be an interesting day. Looking for Germany and Portugal - France played a lacklustre Brazilian side and hasn't shown me enough offensive snap. -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." Thrilling. If it wasn't for that collision it might be a different story (I feel for Argentina, backup, inexperienced, trying to protect a lead and all). On march the Teutonic Knights. :) Now if only Ukraine can pull the big upset  -------------------- "Dikiyoba ... is demon ... drives people mad and ... do all sorts of strange things." I am still waiting for "the best game" to arrive. Pretty good and above average with different strengths/weaknesses is how I vote. It reminds me of Superman vs. Batman for best superhero. Do you like dark, brooding or naive, innocent. I for one thought the call in Italy's game was competent. There was a foul to call, whether diving or legitimate, and from my perspective it appearged more legit then not. That being said, not every call should be made. It is said in hockey playoff's that refs should not decide a game. This is not a license to hide the whistle, but to be judicious in calling penalties. Here, where the "foul" was not grevious, blatant or uncalled for (it was a legitimate attempt at the ball) and the choice not to call a foul would not have affected the momentum or score the players should have been allowed to play through. Sadness over here for the failure of Spain, Mexico and Ghana to advance. Especially sorry that seven of the final eight are perennials. Weighing in on the final eight: Argentina has been brilliant but Germany has momentum and home field. My heart is on the teutonic knights. Portugal will create too much offense for England, who like France, struggle to score. The other two are obvious. Also, Canada cannot qualify, so I might as well pick a second run favorite. with respect to Ballack, he's currently my favorite German player so he got a special mention, although I think Klose is giving him a go in this tourney.
