Considering how Jeff has viewed custom spells, custom races, and many other requests, a chance to make a custom fighting system seems unlikely.

However, you will be able to manipulate characters' stats, include different equipment, and alter all monsters heavily to make all the combat numbers different to some extent.

—Alorael, who hopes that extent is a large one. He's like to see A1/A2-style combat come back. You can only deal 199 damage so many times before it gets old.

To be safe, I'll agree with Drakey too. The first is okay, although I don't think it's terribly good art. The second one also doesn't strike me as particularly good, and it has more potential to be offensive, especially to those aforementioned parents.

—Alorael, who thinks that more strategic cropping and well-placed twinkles could solve many of the problems, but it would reduce the artistic integrity of the images even more.

—Alorael, who actually did only get a 4. If the quiz were more board-oriented he could easily have gotten a 15 or so.

I didn't realize I represented a distinct race, or that Omlette or OM did. I guess TM can always lead his Black Mark Cabbages to victory...

—Alorael, who supposes lurkers may be a race of their own. And while he's not a board lurker, he is an upper window with good lines of sight lurker.

#3, of course.

—Alorael, who is sure there are more subtle messages that one might inscribe upon one's pants. But 3 is good anyway.

I got Azathoth, but the image got screwed up and there's no way I'm going through the effort of getting the quiz to load again.

No, it won't be possible. Special items, abilities, and SDF's cannot be transferred. Each scenario will have to be complete as far as those go, which means the best connection you can get is sequels or prequels.

—Alorael, who supposes someone may find a better way to do it once BoA is out. Judging only from BoE, that's the likely limit.

I would be banned if I didn't pay my monthly bribes promptly and courteously. Let this be a lesson to you all.

—Alorael, who also supposes that being dangerously armed at all times helps keep him alive. The right to bear arms is a wonderful thing in the virtual world.

I'm another shapeshifter. I think I'll shift into a more interesting stereotype later.

—Alorael, who is reasonably certain he got something else a while ago. Either he changed, he's mistaken, or he did shift shapes.

I don't think it's offensive, but I can see how others would be offended by it. On the other hand, it's tamer than what you can find in many fantasy games now. Unless you can find other art and you're very worried about that small group, you can leave the image in.

—Alorael, who would like everyone to take a moment to look at the boxes for EverQuest, Neverwinter Nights, and a number of other major fantasy games. See what they have in common. Then consider how well they sell and decide where the demographics are.

Jeff would probably be happier to receive the suggestion directly, not by link. Just copy what you wrote here and paste it into an email.

—Alorael, who is certain Jeff won't listen. If he rejected the suggestions before, he's even less likely to approve them now that he has started programming BoA.

Yes, there is some way to turn avatars on. We had them here on this UBB before. But Linda has passed an edict banning avatars for all time, so most likely they won't return.

—Alorael, who would like Kakashi to die for suggesting the return of his avatar. It was almost physically painful watching what it did to the dimensions of a topic.

If I can get a clear concensus I'd be happy to move it and lock it.

TM has proved that multiplying both sides of an equation by zero proves that the equation is true. The basic premise of being able to perform such a multiplication is false. Therefore, TM is false.

—Alorael, who much prefers other proofs, like the very complicated explorations of money, time, power, and knowledge.

I visit once or twice a day, but one "visit" is often very long and punctuated by many other things, especially now that Spiderweb's errors and slowdowns make it possible to write the great American novel between posts.

I really, really wish UBB could remember which topics you view instead of counting only from the last time you logged on, more or less.

—Alorael, who can't qualify "once or twice a day" with "but I only post..." either. His post count speaks for itself. It can be either a badge of honor or a badge of shame depending on how you regard it and how much you value that funny thing called a life.

OOC: Aburrido means boring in Spanish. And I would never, ever offer skribbane to anybody, even the renowned Mr. Holmes (whose drug of choice was a bit stronger than aspirin).

IC: Despite his blood skribbane content (very high) and the number of webs covering him (also very high), Alorael decided that he had better alert Logalot to the dangers of having a temporally displaced fictitious character on board. He also wanted to get away from Spider before he lost his temper and opened fire over the stolen drugs. Figuring that on the insanely designed Spiderprise any direction had to be the right one, he set off in the opposite direction that he had sent the detective.

Picking a door at random, he entered the room and found that he had stumbled into Briefing Room 11 as well. Sherlock, Sullust, and Logalot all gave him hard looks as he waved his rifle cheerily at them. "Am I interrupting something? Oh, I see that you've already met. Well, don't mind me."

—Alorael, who will (IC) proceed to seat himself and sip skribbane thoughtfully, making "hmmm" noises at appropriate times in the conversation and more or less acting as an impediment to everything.

Alorael, burst into the room. "I smell my skribbane!" he cried triumphantly. Then, seeing the ab burritos, he pulled out his pocket sniper rifle (never leave home without it), took aim, became entangled in one of Spider's webs.

Even unable to move, he took aim and blew away several of the strange aliens, splattering the walls with thick red salsa. This done, he remembered his true mission. "My skribbane!" he wailed as he thrashed helplessly in the web, having forgotten that all he had to do was wait several times to get free.

—Alorael, who awards this RP the coveted total lack of sense award. Everyone, gives yourselves a round of applause.

Sorry, I missed the great relations between humans and other races. Last time I checked they were carrying out genocidal warfare against the nephilim and had mostly demolished the one group of sliths they had encountered. The vahnatai have no such history.

—Alorael, who would also like to point out that the rogue sliths exiled as barbarians were able to give Exile real trouble. Imagine what the full army of the main habitation of the sliths could do.

Reptiles and mammals do not have compatible reproductive systems. Felines and primates could possibly work it out mechanically, but the species are too far separated to produce viable offspring. I'm not sure that the number of chromosomes matches, let alone the contents of the chromosomes.

—Alorael, who would guess that out of all the races presented in the Exile/Avernum games, only the troglos and humans are at all likely to produce living offspring, and those would probably be sterile. Giants and either one might work as well, except for the size problems.

OOC: Please, don't kill another RP this quickly.

IC: Some small, cylindrical repair robots rolled into the room, grabbed the now stunned cyborg. "Don't reformat and reset without checking all external attachments, chips, and salsas," one of the robots bleeped accusingly. Then they both rolled back out, taking Cyborve off to some repair area where he could hopefully be cleaned of virus and cheese.

—Alorael, who must apologize for grabbing Omlette's robots without permission. They were very necessary in the situation.

Alorael burst into the scene of the chaos, waving yet another firearm and screaming at the top of his lungs. In the momentary silence that followed his arrival, he bellowed, "MY SKRIBBANE IS MISSING!"

Everyone looked at everyone else, then dove for cover or took other protective measures as bullets began to rattle off of everything in the room.

Then Alorael stopped, sheepishly mumbled something, and charged off in the direction of the main computer. "If anyone can locate lost items on this ship it will be the Organized Mechanical Leader of Electronic Trained Troops and Employees (OMLETTE).

—Alorael, who is pleased to see that in just over a page total chaos has absorbed the RP. Spiderweb will be Spiderweb.

Only a gorilla can expose and explain the foibles and follies of mankind, especially when the protagonist has to go through life without a name.
