You have a point there. Though thinking about enchantment and witchcraft, let's keep the power on our side, please.

Yep, I'm mildly disappointed that blokes tend to be represented as brainless, musclebound warrior types (like Arnie in 'Conan') in fantasy contexts. This doesn't represent the reality of our manhood which, when it comes to RPGers, tends to the bespectacled and geeky, with stick-like ET limbs coming from getting no more exercise than lifting the occassional mouse. I suppose we can thank Jeff for challengiong pernicious fantasy stereotypes by having his own graphic portraying him as podgey and (I recall) mildly bearded. Still, Jeff aside, eye candy for the ladies, eh?

Um, did you just inconspiciously mention that Jeff is an unattractive Geek?

Uh-oh, better hope he doesn't read this too closely. IMAGE(Erotic or offensive art question (2)_files/tongue.gif)

Radiant - I'm not offended by that drawing at all. But then again, I am probably with Khoth on that.

I really wouldn't mind if she would be wearing more or less. Things can be adult at times but if you intend on targeting a much younger audience you might want to tone it down.

thats odd. i had a go at playing leylines.
i couldnt see any of the portraits. probably not finished.

i did however see the girl on the sidebar that was completely naked. i know what you mean.

leylines is an ok game. a bit too civilisation like for me though.

as for the naked firl on the sidebar, damn, they had to cover one nipple with a twinkly star, and her under parts with the exit sign.

Okay, thanks everybody for your reply. I don't think the game will be played
by anyone aged twelve or below because of its complexity. And most people
don't seem to mind.

Troubled queen -> There are a dozen different images you can pick for your own
wizard, and roughly half of these are male. (the reason I say roughly is
that one of them is a skeleton. How's that for nudity, bare to the bones! IMAGE(Erotic or offensive art question (2)_files/smile.gif) )

BrTarolg -> Well, Civ was a source of inspiration. However there are many new
things in Leylines such as the variety of spells and units such as the
ballistae.

Omlette & Arancaytar -> Now that you mention it the faerie from the Target
screen is naked. Actually one of the wizard pics is rather revealing too.
I'll post the links here, please tell me what you think.

The first is very cool, but it probably gets a little risque from the waist-down. The second seems unnecessary to me.

I'd say the second is better from an artistic standpoint, but I tend to agree with Drakefyre otherwise.

Ha, ha! No, I think you'd have to have been locked in a cupboard throughout your entire formative years to find anything either particularly objectionable or arousing about either of these images. And I agree that they have some artistic merit.

BTW, I was saying Jeff was our role model. None of us are Chippendales. IMAGE(Erotic or offensive art question (2)_files/smile.gif)

Personally I do not find anything offensive about these images, and they would not influence my decision about buying the game, but they might create friction with parents. just a thought

To be safe, I'll agree with Drakey too. The first is okay, although I don't think it's terribly good art. The second one also doesn't strike me as particularly good, and it has more potential to be offensive, especially to those aforementioned parents.

—Alorael, who thinks that more strategic cropping and well-placed twinkles could solve many of the problems, but it would reduce the artistic integrity of the images even more.

The first image is great. I love the outfit. LOL I wish I looked as good as her in it. The blue one while the nudity on a blue fairy/sorceress is not really and issue for me. I think the art quality in that one is not all that great.

As far as the whole graphics thing goes, lets face it sex appeal sells. The major ad companies of the world have us way to well trained for us not to respond. That and most of us enjoy the sight a scantily but clad (not obscene) man or woman.

But to be fair to us girls, better looking males wearing less would be fun. LOL when I'm losing a game at least it give me something to look at besides my own distruction. IMAGE(Erotic or offensive art question (2)_files/biggrin.gif)

I suggest many of you to explore the porn for nerds topic, currently on page 4 of general, and going deeper into hell.

I WUW the first image. Mainly because of the.. ahem, lack of outfit of the character.

Also, the secodn one is of too low quality to be disturbing.

The first is erotic art. Very beautiful. The second is dull. I'd remove it. The difference in quality is too obvious.

Once again thanks for the feedback.

I think it would be best to remove the first picture (or maybe cut off the lower
parts or something). I believe it would be best to not offend people (such as
concerned parents). I agree that (near-) nudity sells, but if I were to go
that way I'd put in a lot more and start with the title screen instead of a
hero picture that first-time players are unlikely to see.

The second one concerns less people but it is considered low-quality by
most. Which is also a reason to remove it. I'm afraid there will be some
low-quality art in the game considering I'm working on a zero budget here.
Would it be a good idea if I post some more art here and let people comment
as to its quality? If at least the worst pictures could be replaced that would
help a lot. Just don't go suggesting I hire Don Lawrence or anything IMAGE(Erotic or offensive art question (2)_files/smile.gif)

Maybe you can work on the first to make it less provocative. It would be a pity to remove it, as it is very well done.
